DOS and Windows 3.1x M ost portable computer s include some form of Card and Sock et Ser v ices. This software enab les the comput er’ s internal PCMCIA co ntroller to operate.

10 3 Installing the Modem 11 The M odem c omes with its o wn dedicated phone cable. This cable has a standard RJ-11 connecto r on one end for the pho ne line, and a special connector that ts into the M odem on the othe r end. Inse r t the cable into the M odem, as shown in the gure, be low .
