W ARRANTY INFORMA TION PRINTERS - BOCA warr ants each printer to be free of defects f or a per iod of one year from the date of shipment when subject to nor mal use and ser vice. This w arranty cov ers all par ts and labor e xcept f or the print head which is warranted f or 90 days .
1.0 Introduction The BOCA Adjustable MC Ghost is a direct thermal tick et pr inter especially designed f or airline boarding pass and bagtag applications. The printer will automatically deter mine if a boarding pass or tag is loaded. T wo printers can be daisy chained together in order to print both passes and bag tags from a single host computer .
2.0 Unpacking the Printer The printer is shipped in a r uggedized container . Please sav e packing material for future use. Remov e the pr inter ( see figure 1 ) and accessories from the box and inspect f or obvious damage . If damage is noticed please repor t it immediately to BOCA.

4.0 Installation The Adjustable MC Ghost tic ket printer is designed to be mounted on a desktop or on a shelf . Pr ior to the site preparation and installation, the printer should be posered up and run in the self test mode. La y the printer flat on a counter as shown in figure 3 .
5.0 Configuration The Adjustable MC Ghost is f actor y configured f or a variety of customer requirements. 1. The printer has a resolution of 200dpi. 2.

7.0 Thermal Paper - Theory & Specification The print head’ s lif e expectancy is composed of both a mechanical and an electrical component. Both of these f actors are strongly influenced by the quality of the thermal paper used. MECHANICAL The print head has a theoretical rating of 60 kilometers.
8.0 Maintenance and Adjustments Y our tic k et pr inter is solidly constructed and has been designed for high v olume use. It requires minimal care to provide maxim um ser vice. This section provides an o v er view of printer maintenance, including par ts alignments, adjustment and replacement.
The position of the tear can be controlled by changing the cut count setting in the OPERA T OR MENU (see Appendix A ). If you are not ab le get the desired tear position, then make sure y our tick et stock w as manuf actured to proper specifications. Once a month the opto ey e should be blown off with air to remo ve any accum ulated paper dust.
8.1.6 THERMAL PRINT HEAD The print head should be cleaned monthly , initially , to prev ent debr is from building up on the print element. The required cleaning inter val v aries greatly depending on the quality of the tick et stock and the amount of dust entering the pr int area.

8.1.7 Rubber Drive Roller (Platen) The rubber drive roller should be cleaned once a y ear to pre vent paper dust from building up on the roller . Clean drive roller with a paper to wel and alcohol. 1. Lift up the cam lock assemb ly (located abov e the head mounting bloc k) to remove pressure from the ther mal head.

10.0 T roubleshooting Guide This is a simplified troubleshooting guide listing some of the typical prob lems. It is not intended to provide technical details or repair methods , but can serve as a guide to f ault isolation in the field. Appendix A - Operator Menu Options This printer allows the user to adjust v arious pr inter options through the control panel. T o access and use the OPERA T OR MENU , f ollow these steps: 1. Tic ket stoc k should be loaded into the printer . 2. Press both MENU and TEST switches sim ultaneously f or about three seconds.
The char t below lists the present menu topics . These topics are subject to change. OPERA T OR MENU! B A UD RA TE? MINI/MICRO? PRINT SPEED? DIA GNOSTIC MODE? TICKET TYPE? ST A TUS ENABLED? TRANSP ARE.
MINI/MICR O? Defines the type of printer . MINI Is f or a printer with a Silent Cutter Assembly (SC2) ( Mini, Mini Plus, Mini MB , Dual Mini) MICR O Is f or a printer without a SC2 (Micro , Micro Ghost, Micro MB, Dual Micro) (factory default) PRINT SPEED? Controls the speed the tick et trav els at.
P APER MODE? Is generally used only f or test pur poses. It may also be used on roll stoc k with no blac k mar ks on the tick et. Y our choices are YES (Enabled) or NO (Disab led). NO is factory default. INC BPP CUT COUNT? Enables the oper ator to mov e Boarding P ass tear position to the left (tow ards the tick et e xit area).
JUST EXIT? Will e xit the menu options without sa ving any changes . If you with to e xit without saving the ne w value then press TEST , if not press MENU . T o access and use the SPECIAL MENU , f ollow steps 1 - 6 under the OPERA T OR MENU e xcept press both the TEST and Choice s witch simultaneously f or three seconds.
