NEVER . . . NEVER leav e children unsuper vised where the cooker is installed as all sur faces will get hot during and after use. NEVER allow an yone to sit or stand on any part of the cooker . NEVER store items tha t children may attempt to r each above the c ooker .
The hotplate lid is fitt ed with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotpla te burners.
7 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FR YING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one thir d full with oil or fat . 2. Never lea ve oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooli ng period . 3. Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan. 4. Alway s dr y food thoroughly befor e fr ying, and low er it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
8 T O USE THE GRILL 1. Open the top ov en/grill door and remove the grill pan. 2. Remove the hea t shield from the rear of the shelf for maximum grilling area. 3. Place shelf in chosen position. Ref er to grilling char t. 4. Pr ess the ignition button and then push in and turn the contr ol knob clock wise to the large flame symbol.
The f ollowing chart is a guide. Grilling can be star ted from co ld but f or best results preheat f or approximately two minut es. Most cook ing is done wit h the heat on full, but it may be desir able to reduce it for thicker pieces of meat or f or keeping food warm.
The ov en has different heat z ones – the ther mostat settings ref er to the temperature on the middle shelf position; abov e this shelf it is hotter and below it is cooler . T wo shelves pro vide five possible cooking levels enabling full use of the differen t temperatures inside the ov en.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything r equir ing long slow cooking such as casseroles and ric h fruit cakes can be put into a cold o ven. Satisfactor y results can also be obtained with creamed mixture, rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but f or per fection we rec ommend preheating the oven for about 15 minutes a t the gas mar k you r equire for cooking.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alt er the setting to give a result more to y our satisfac tion. When a differ ent setting to that shown below is given in a r ecipe, the recipe instructions should be followed .

The ‘Slow C ook ’ setting on the main oven thermostat is used f or slow cook ing , keeping food warm and warming plat es for shor t periods. USING THE ‘SL OW C OOK’ SET TING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘Slow C ook ’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
The top o ven can be used to cook small quantities of f ood or us ed in conjunc tion with the main ov en to provide additional cooking space. The shelf in the top o ven has a heat shield fitted at the rear . The shield can be remo ved for cleaning and grilling , but must be replaced when using the ov en.

Clean the cook er regularly and wipe up spills soon af ter they occur t o preven t them from becoming burn t on. Never use biological washing pow der , caustic cleaners, harsh abr asives , scouring pads, steam cleaners , aeros ol cleaners or ov en chemical cleaners of any kind .
19 CARE AND CLEANING C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts, hotplate front trim, burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compar tment, inside of doors. Cloth wrung out in warm soapy wat er .
CARE AND CLEANING Take particular care not to damage the inner sur face of the door inner glass that is coat ed with a heat reflective la yer . Do not use scouring pad s, or abr asive powder , which will scratch the glass . Ensure that the glass panel is not subjected to an y sharp mechanical blows.
21 SOMETHING WRONG WITH Y OUR C OOKER Before calling a Service Engineer , please check through the follo wing lists. THERE MA Y BE NOTHING WRONG. Problem Check Slight odour or small amount of smoke when grill / ov en used first time This is normal and should cease after a short per iod .
Prior to installa tion, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment c onditions are compatible. The adjustmen t conditions for this applianc e are stated on the data badge which is fitted on the back panel.

SP A CE FOR FIXING The cooker can be close fitted below hotpla te level. This requires a minimum distance of 600mm between cupboard units of hotpla te height. When installing next to a tall cupboard , par tition or wall, for a minimum distance of 400mm abov e hotplate level, allow a side clearanc e of at least 65mm.

C ONNECTING T O GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to mat ch the depth of standard 600mm wor ktops. An adaptor backplate should, ther efore , be fitted within the shaded area shown to allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669.
INST ALLA TION AND OPERA TIONAL CHECKS After installation, check for gas soundness . The supply pressur e can be checked at the grill injector . Acc ess to the injec tor is by first r emoving the baffle at the front of the grill fastened by two scr ews.
