20 Before Using Your Machine ENGLISH Problem Document s z T o prevent document jams in the ADF , do not attempt to load the following types of documents into the fax: z Remove all staples, paper clips, etc. before loading the document into the ADF .
21 Before Using Your Machine ENGLISH Loading Document s and Paper 1 Open the Document Cover (1) and exten d the Paper Support (2) to support the paper . 2 Squeeze, then slide th e Paper Guide to the left . 3 Insert the stack face up in to the Rear Tray (1), and align the right edge of the stack with the right side of the Rear T ray .
22 Copying ENGLISH Copying Making Copies One of the convenient features of the fax is its ability to make high quality copies. Y ou can make up to 99 copies of one document at a time. If you make copies of multiple documents at a time, t he number of pages the fax can scan into memory is as follows: 1 Load the document face up into the ADF .
23 Sending Faxes ENGLISH Sending Faxes Sending Document s Before you send a document, see “Document R equirements” on p age 19, and “Loading Documents and Paper” on page 21. Direct Sending 1 Load the document face up into the ADF . See “Loading Documents and Paper” on page 21.
24 Sending Faxes ENGLISH 3 If a person answers, converse normally , then ask them to press the start button on their fax. Press [S tart/Copy] and hang up. If you hear a high pitch tone, press [St art/Copy] and hang up. Canceling Sending 1 Press [S top/Reset].

26 Sending Faxes ENGLISH Sending a Document Using Direct ory Dialing This feature is convenient when yo u know the ot her party’s name but cannot recall the one-touch speed dialing button or the code for coded speed dialing where t he number is registered.
27 Sending Faxes ENGLISH S pecial Dialing Sending a Documen t Using Caller History If the <CALLER ID> setting is set to <ON>, the ca ller ’s name and phone/fax number appear on the LCD when you receive a call (see page 60). The fax keeps up to 20 latest caller IDs in memory .
28 Sending Faxes ENGLISH Redialing When the Line is Busy There are two methods of redialing: manual rediali ng and automa tic redialing. This section explains these two methods. Manual Redialing Press [Redial] to dial the last number you dialed wi th the numeric buttons*.

32 Receiving Faxes ENGLISH Receiving Faxes Different ways to receive a document Y our fax provides you with several modes for receiving documents. T o determine which mode best suits your requirements, see the t able below . * This setting is only avai lable for some countries.
33 Receiving Faxes ENGLISH Setting the Receive Mode Once you have decided which mode is suitable fo r your needs, set the mode by pressing [Receive Mode/Resolution]. 1 Press [Receive Mode/Resolution]. Every time you press [Receive Mode/Re solution], the mode changes cyclically .
34 Receiving Faxes ENGLISH 8 Use [ { ] or [ } ] to select <RECEIVE> or <DISCO NNECT>, then press [St art/Copy]. This setting tells the fax what to do if the H andset is not picked up wi thin the specified ring time set in step 6. 9 Press [S top/Reset].

38 Receiving Faxes ENGLISH Polling to Receive Documents The polling feature allows you to request a doc ument to be faxed t o you from another fax machine. The sending party only needs to make sure the document is on a fax machine and ready to be sent.

Y ou can select from the followin gs: z <ANONYMOUS>: The fax rejects calls from any callers who have blocked their phone/fax number from the caller ID service.
40 Receiving Faxes ENGLISH Documents S tor ed in Memory Printing the MEMOR Y LIST Y our fax can print a list of documents stored in memory , along with the t ransaction number (<TX/ RX NO.>) of each document. On ce you know t he transaction nu mber of a document in memory , you can print it or delete it.

43 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH 7 Hang up the Ha ndset and press [S top/Reset]. The fax returns to standby mode. Setting T AM Mode Setting T AM mode allows you to receive telephone me ssages (ICM) and f ax tr ansmissions while the fax is unattended.
44 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH Setting the Recording T ime for a T elephone Message 1 Press [Menu]. 2 Use [ { ] or [ } ] to select <DA T A REGSTRA TION> , then press [St art/Copy]. 45 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH Setting <TOLL SA VER> Setting <TOLL SA VER> allows you to check wheth er you have any new messages when you call from a remote location. When <TOLL SA VER> is set to <ON> and there are new messages, the fax will answer after the second rin g.
46 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH 7 Hang up the Ha ndset and press [S top/Reset]. The fax returns to standby mode. * The recording time for a voice memo can be set to the same settings as the recording time for a telephone message.
47 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH Follow the procedures below to delete all messages. 1 Press [Delete] . The LCD displays <YE S=( ) NO=(#)>. 2 Press [ ] to delete all mess ages. z A voice memo is not deleted (see page 46). z If you decide not to delete all messages, press [#].
48 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH Using Remote Control 1 Call home. 2 The outgoi ng message wi ll be played. 3 Press [#] while the outgoing message is playing. Enter your password when you hear the beeps indicatin g that you should enter your password.

When T AM mode has not been set, entering this command activates T AM mode and IC M forwarding mode simultaneously .
50 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only) ENGLISH Forwarding T elephone Messages This feature allows you to automatically forw ard telephone messages, recorded when the fax is set to T AM mode, to a registered forwarding number. Y ou can use remote control to access the forwarding number and listen to your telephone messages.

Dirt and dust particles that collect on the underside of the Cover affect the quality of the documents you copy or send.
70 Routine Maintenance ENGLISH Cleaning the Roller Clean the paper feed roller if paper is not fed pr operly . Cleaning the paper feed roller will wear the roller , so per form this only when necessary . 1 Ensure that the machine is turned o n and there is no paper loaded in the Rear Tray .
