Preparations 20 Access ories Fasten the grip belt. • Adjust the grip belt so that you can re ach the zoo m lever wi th your inde x finger , and the button with your thumb. • Y ou c an remove t he grip belt and replace it w ith the supplied wrist strap.
21 Y ou can also remo ve the grip belt and attach the shoulder strap directly to the re ar bracke t on the camcor der . 1 Pass the end of the strap throu gh the rear bracket on the camcorder . 2 Thread the strap through th e padded han dgrip and th en pass it through the front bra cket on the camcor der .
Preparations 22 LCD Backligh t Y ou can set the brightness of the scre en to dim, normal or bright. T o set the screen to dim, tur n on [LCD DIMMER] ( s 85). T o toggle be tween normal and bright or to turn off [LCD DIMMER], perform the following pr ocedure.
23 Opera ting Mo des The camcor der's oper ating mode is determined by the button and the po sition of the camera mode dial. In this manual, indicate s that a function is available in the operat ing mode shown and indicates that the function is not a vailable.
Preparations 24 Y ou can acce ss the menus and change settings t o your pr eference. Even in flex ible re cording mo de, the camcor der can help you with the settings. For example, you can use th e Special Scene r ecor ding programs ( 41) to set at once all the optimal settings to matc h spec ial recordi ng con ditions .
25 In eith er mode, if you wait a few seconds, the joystick guide will minimize again but the sel ected function can s till be operated. Y ou can also push the joystick ( ) to hide the joystick guide. Usi ng the Menus Many of the camcor der’ s functions can be adjus ted fr o m t he menus that open after pressi ng the F UNC.

Preparations 28 Memory Cards Compatible for Use with the Camcorder Y ou can use commer cially available SDHC (SD high capacity) me mory cards and SD memo ry cards with this camc order to recor d movi es and photos. However , depending on the memory card, you may n ot be able t o record m ovies on it.
