C HAPTER 1: Q UICK S TA R T This Instal lation Gu ide helps y ou to set up t he V712 2 gateway for the first time. Prior knowledg e of IP networ ks is preferred. The follow ing st eps provide a q uick set up flow. For detailed infor mation about how t o fully configur e the gat eway, see the V7122 Di gital Gat eway User Gu ide .

C HAPTER 2: I NST ALLING THE V7122 G AT E W AY Figur e 1 show s the front view of the V71 22 media g atew ay. For infor matio n about t he V7122 gateway LEDs, see Monitoring t he V7122 L EDs .
WARNIN G: Elect ric al S hock The equipm ent must only be inst alled or ser viced by qualifie d service p ersonn el. To instal l the V712 2 gate way, follow thes e 4 steps: 1 Unpac k the V7122 gat eway (see Unpac king ). 2 Check the pa ckage conte nts (see Pa ckage C ontent s ).

To attach the t wo front sid e brackets, f ollow thes e 3 steps: 1 Remove t he two screw s nearest the front panel on e ither side of the dev ice. 2 Align a brac ket over tw o holes on on e side (so that the bracket s larger holes f ace front) and with the tw o supplied repla cem ent screws, screw in the brac ket.
To attach the d evice to a 19-inch rack, fol low these 2 st eps: 1 Position t he device in your 19-inch rack and align t he left-hand and right-han d bracket holes to the requ ired holes in the vert ical tracks of t he 19-inch rack. 2 Use standar d 19-inch rack bolts (not provide d) to fasten t he device to the fra me of the rack.

For the dual A C power supply n ote the following: • The LE D on the left side of the chassis is on ly conn ected wh en the dual AC is used. It is not relevant to t he single AC power co nnection.
To connect DC power using a DC t erminal b lock crimp conn ector, follow thes e 3 steps: 1 Remov e the DC ada ptor (screw connection ty pe) that is attached t o the V7122 gat eway rear panel. 2 Connect the t wo insulated w i res to the correct D C power supply .

C HAPTER 3: C ONFIGURING THE V7122 G AT E W AY The V7122 gat eway is supplied w ith application so ftware already reside nt in its flash memory (with factory default para m eter s). Section Assigning the V71 22 Gateway IP Addres s describes how to assign IP addres ses to the V7122.
Assi gning an IP A ddress Usi ng HTTP To assign an I P address using HTTP, follow t hese 9 steps: 1 Disconnect the V7122 gatew ay from the networ k and reconn ect it to your PC usin g one of the follow ing two methods: Use a standar d Ethernet cable to conn ect the network interface o n your PC to a port on a networ k hub / swit ch.
Assi gning an IP A ddress Usi ng BootP BootP proce dure can also be perform ed using any standard com patible BootP server. You can also us e BootP to load t he auxiliary files to the V7122 gateway (s ee the V7122 Dig ital Gatew ay User Guide ).
Figure 11 Client Configuration Screen with Blank Param eters Assi gning an IP A ddress Usi ng the CLI To assign an I P address using t he CLI, follow these 7 steps: 1 Enable t he Embedded T elnet Server: a) Access the V 7122 gatewa y Embedded W eb Server (see Access ing the Embe dded W eb Serve r ).
6 Change th e network settin gs by typing: SCP IP [ip_address] [subnet_mask] [default_gateway] (for example, SCP IP 1 0.13.77.7 255.25 5.0.0 10.13.0. 1); the new settings ta ke effect on-t he-fly. Con nectivity is activ e at the new I P address. This comm and requires you to enter all t hree network param eters (each separated by a sp ace).
Accessin g the Embedded Web Server To access the Embedded Web Server, follow these 4 st eps: 1 Open a stan dard Web-bro wsing app lication su ch as Micros oft™ Internet Explo rer™ (Version 6.0 a nd higher) or Net scape™ Navigator™ (Version 7.2 and higher).
The follow ing configuring Sect ions from here up to and including Configur ing Basic SIP Par amet ers apply in dividually to H. 323 or SI P. H.323 conf iguring co ntinues with Co nfiguring Basi c H.323 Param eters . SIP conf iguring continue s with Configur ing Basic SIP Paramet ers .
Enable t he DMZ con figurat ion on the resid ential rout er f or the LAN p ort where the V7122 gatew ay is conne cted. This enables un known packets to be route d to the DMZ port.
H.323 users sh ould continue w ith Section Co nfiguring the Trunk Settings . Confi guring Basic SIP Par ameters After acces sing the E mbedded W eb Server (see Ac cessing the Embe dded Web Server ) the SIP Quic k Setup scre en is display ed.
2 Under SIP Param eters , enter the V7122 gat eway d omain name in the Gateway Name field. If the f ield is not specified, the V7122 gatew ay IP address is used instead (def ault).
V7122 gateway completes the rest art, Ready and LAN LEDs on t he front panel are l i t green. 10 After the g ateway is reset, config ure the V7122 gate way trunk parameters. For informati on about configur ing the trunk para meters, see Con figuring the Trun k Settings .

C HAPTER 4: C HANGING THE V7122 G AT E W AY U SERNAME A ND P ASSWORD To prevent una uthorized access to the E mbed ded W eb Server, tw o user accounts are availabl e, a primary and secondary . For detailed in formatio n on the user acco unt mechanis m , see t he V7122 Digita l Gateway User Guid e .
2 To change th e username of an account , enter the n ew username in the User Name field, and then clic k Change Us er Nam e ; the new username is applied immediately and the Enter Netw ork Password screen appears (shown in Figure 12 ). Enter t he updated username in the Enter Netw ork Password scr een.
C HAPTER 5: R EST ORIN G AND B ACKING U P THE V7122 G AT E W AY C ONFIGURA TION The Conf iguration File scr een enables you t o restore (load a new ini file to the gat eway) or to back up (sav e a copy of the VoI P gatew ay ini file and store it in a directory on your PC) the current gateway configuration.
4 Clic k Sav e ; the VoIP gate way copies the ini file into t he folder you se lected. To restore the ini file, fol low these 4 steps: 1 Clic k Br owse . 2 Navigat e to the folder t hat cont ains the in i file you want to load. 3 Select t he file and the n click Open ; the name and pat h of the file ap pear in the field beside the Br owse button.
C HAPTER 6: M ONIT ORING THE V7122 G AT E W AY The V7122 gat eway provides sev eral ways for monitoring the st atus of the gat eway: Monitoring t he V7122 gat eway LEDs (see Monit oring the V7122 L EDs ).

C HAPTER 7: U PGRADI NG THE V7122 G AT E W AY The Softw are Update menu enab les users to upgrade t he V7122 gateway software by loadin g a new cm p file along with the in i and a suite of auxiliary fi les, or to upd ate the existing auxiliary fi les.
To use the So f tware Upgr ade Wizard, follow t hese 9 steps: 1 Stop all t raffic on the V7122 gateway (see t he note above). 2 Open the Softw are Upgr ade W izard (click Software U pdate menu > Softwar e Upgrade Wizard ); t he Start Software Upgrade s creen appear s.
4 Clic k Br owse , navigat e to the cmp fil e and clic k the butt on Send File; the cmp f ile is loaded to t he V7122 gat eway and y ou are notified a s to a successf ul loading.

Updatin g the A uxiliary File s The auxili ary files are configurat ion da t files that are loa ded to the gateway (in addit ion to the ini file) to en able enhance d gateway provisionin g. Table 13 presents a brief descri ption of the ini file and the auxi liar y files that are av ai lable: CA S, Voice Pro mpts, and Call Progress Tones (CPT).
