2 PREINST ALLA TIO N Every installer should perform site evaluation prior to installing the transceivers. In order to perform this evaluation the following minimum equipment must be purchased from Carrier . The two modem starter kit (33CNWI RMOD) is re- quired to begin performing a site eval uation.
3 Table 1 — H ardwar e Specif ication s Serial Comm unications — In order to configure any transceiver , a 9-pin RS-232 cable must be used. This is neces- sary because Pin 4 is used to transmit the configuration data into EEPROM and other pins are use d during the configuration process as well (see T able 2).
4 Table 2 — Stand-Alone Transceiver Pin Out Anten na I ns talla tion — A ntennas must be connected to each transceiver for proper operation. W ithout an antenna, two units will not communicate. The higher the gain of the an- tenna, the longer t he range of the t ransceiver signal .

6 W ireless links can only be used t o extend a CCN primary bus (bus D). Do not use bri dges when using a wireless link. Utilizing this primary bus wireless connection to acce s s CCN devices through a bri dge will cause communication messages to be generated on the primary bus.
