5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using for the first time • Follow the ”Instructions for install atio n and connectio n” . • If the appliance is deliver ed in th e winter months when there ar e mi- nus temper atures: Stor e the washin g machine at r oom temperatur e for 24 hour s before using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repair s to the washing machine must only be carried out by qualified service engineer s. • Never use the washing machine if th e mains cable is damaged; or if the contr ol panel, work top or plin th ar ea is damaged such that the inside of the appliance is fr eely accessible.

10 Prior to using for the first time Switching on the appliance fo r the first time - setting the language The display is set to English as standa r d in the factor y . 3 Important: If the display does not show the menu for setting the lan- guage when the appliance is swit ched on, the appliance has been switched on before.
11 Setting the time So that the time and the end of the p r ogram ar e corr ectly displayed, please check the display and set the curr ent time if necessary .
12 Running a washing cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. T o open the door: pull the door by the handle. 2. Unfold washing and load it loosely into the machine. Mix large and small items. Important: Do not get any washing caught between the door and the rubber seal.
13 Adding deter gent / additives Important: Use only detergents and additives that ar e suitable for use in domestic washing machines. 1 For USA and Canada only! Important! Only LO W-SUDSING deter gent suitable for a fron t-loading washing machine can be used in this machine.
14 W ashing powder/tablets for the main wash If you ar e using water softener and need the right-hand compartment for the pre-wash deter gent, add the water softener to the main wash detergent in the left-hand compartment. Softeners , wash-care pr oducts to pr eserve the shape of garments , star ch Do not fill the compartment beyond the MAX mark.
15 Changing the temper atur e Pr ess the TEMP . key r e p e a t e d - ly until the desir ed temperatur e is displayed. Changing spin speed/selecting rinse hold Pr ess the RPM key repeated- ly , until the desired spin speed or RINSE HOLD is displayed.
16 3 Only the options that can be combined with the cycle that has alr eady been set ar e shown in the display . Pr ewash, Sensitive, Stain, Night Cycle 1. Pr ess the OPTIONS key re- peatedly until the desir ed symbol flashes, e. g., PREW ASH (With each pr ess of the key , the next symbol flashes, from left to right.
17 3. Pr ess the O PTIONS key r e- peatedly , until your progr am set appear s again. The dis- play shows the symbol for the selected option. Setting times Shortened cycles and the delay of th e start time can be set for a wash cycle that has alr eady been selected.
18 4. T o change from SHORT to VERY SHORT, pr ess the TIME key again. 3 Y ou can change between NORMAL, SHORT, and VERY SHORT using the TIME key . 5. Pr ess the OK key to confirm the selection. The display changes to the symbol for DELA Y ST ART, i.e.
19 Starting a pr ogr am 1. Check that the water tap is o pen. 2. Pr ess the START/P AUSE key . The pr ogram is started or it starts after the time delay set has elapsed. 3 If after pr essing the START/P AUSE key the display shows “Door not Closed”, the door has not been shut properly .
20 W ashing cycle complete / Removing the washing At the end of the cycle a long acoust ic sig nal sounds 3 times (when the SOUND setting is NORMAL or LOW) and the messages “Cycle ended” and “Door openable” appear alternately in the display . 1.
21 Setting the Memory Example: Pr ogram position MEMORY 1 is to be given the following pr ogram combina- tion: LINEN/EASY - CARES 40 °C, 800 rpm, with PREW ASH. 1. T urn the progr am knob to LI- NEN/EASY -CARES. 2. Pr ess the TEMP . key r epeatedly , until 40 °C appears in the display .
22 Vo l u m e The volume of the acoustic signal can be selected. 1. T urn the progr am knob to any progr am and p r ess the OPTIONS key re- peatedly until the SETUP symbol flashes. 2. Pr ess the OK key . 3. Pr ess the O PTIONS key r epeatedly , until VOLUME is shown in the dis- play .
23 Language 1. T urn the progr am knob to any progr am and p r ess the OPTIONS key r epeatedly until the SETUP symbol flashes. 2. Pr ess the OK key . 3. Pr ess the O PTIONS key r epeatedly , until the display sho ws LANGUAGE. 4. Pr ess the OK key . 5.
24 Contr ast and brightness 1. T urn the progr am knob to any progr am and p r ess the OPTIONS key re- peatedly until the SETUP symbol flashes. 2. Pr ess the OK key . 3. Pr ess the OPTIONS key repeatedly , until the display shows CONTRAST or or BRIGHTNESS.
25 1 Wa r n i n g ! The knob must not be sunk-in after being set, otherwise the child safety device is not active. The knob must stand out as shown in the illustr ation. Releasing the child safety device: T urn the knob anti-clockwise as far as it will go.
26 W ashing drum Rust deposits in the drum may occu r due to rusting foreign bodies in the washing or tap water containing ir on. Important! Do not cl ean the drum with a cidic descaling agents, scour- ing agents containing chlorine or iron or steel wool.
27 Problem P ossible cause Remedy Washing machine does not work. Mains plug n ot plugged in or fuse not wo rking. Plug in mains pl ug. Check fuse. Door not closed properly . Close door - th er e should be an audibl e click. START/P AUSE key wa s not pressed for long enough.
28 Display shows: “Excess De- tergent” Probably too much de- tergent has been used. Dose detergent exactly as in- structed by manufacturer . Display shows: – “No drain - check/drain hose/filter” or – “Pump Bloc ked” Kink in drain hose.
29 If the wash r esults ar e not satisfactory W ashing is grey and scale is being deposited in the drum • T oo little detergent is being used. • The right deter gent was not used. • Special soiling was not pr e-trea ted. • Pr ogramme or temper ature was not corr ectly set.
30 Carrying out an emer gency dr ain 1 Wa r n i n g ! Before emer gency draining, switch off the washing machine and r emove the mains plug from the socket. Wa r n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emergency dr ain hose may be hot. Ther e is a risk of scalding.
31 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e. g. if th e pump wheel is blocked. Please make sure befor e loading th e washing that ther e ar e no foreign bodies in the pockets or caught between the washing.
32 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials ar e environmentally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components ar e id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at the community waste disposal facilities.

34 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information for the installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted. Do not under any circumstanc- es connect an appliance that is damaged.
35 • Do not lay the appliance on its fr on t nor on its right side (as seen fr om the front). Electrical components may get wet. • Never tr ansport the appliance withou t its tr ansport lock. Only r emove the tr ansport lock when the appliance is in its place of installation.
36 3. With a suitable spanner unscrew and re mo v e th e c e n t ra l re a r b o l t A . Slide out the r elevant plastic spacer . 4. Un s c re w a n d re m o v e t h e t w o l a rg e r ear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C . 5. Remove the br acket D.
37 7. Open the porthole and remove the polystyr ene block fitted with the ad- hesive tape on the door seal. 8. Fill the smaller upper hole and the two lar ge ones with the correspond- ing plastic plug caps supplied in the bag containing the instruction booklet.
38 Making the appliance level 3 Automatic foot: The r ear foot on the left-h and side of your washing machine is built as a shock absorbin g foot, which is why the appliance gives in the back left-hand corner if put under load. The automatic foot guar antees that the appliance does no t move even at high spin speeds.
39 W ater inlet Attention! • An inlet hose is supplied and ca n been found inside the machine drum. • Do not use the hose fr om your pr evious machine to connect to the water supply . • This appliance must not be connected to the hot water system.
40 W ater drainage The maximum permitted differ ence be tween the height of the surface on which the appliance is installe d and the water outlet is 1 metr e. Only original hoses may be used to extend hoses. (A maximum of 3 m laid on the floor and then 80 cm ve rtically).
