2 1 Overview This guide provides ph one, soft key , and features descripti ons for the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7970G/ 7971G Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP)mult i-line touch-screen phones.
3 3 Display button A wakens the touch screen from sleep mode or disables it for cleaning. No color—Ready for input Green flashing—Disabled Green steady—Sleep mode 4 Messages button Auto-dials your voice messag e service (varies by service). 5 Directories button Opens or closes the Directories m enu.
4 Connecting Your Phone This section shows how to use the connectors on your Cisco IP phone. . 1 DC adapter port (DC48V) 6 Handset port 2 AC-to-DC power supply 7 Headset port 3 AC power cord 8 Reserved for future use 4 Network port (10/100 1 SW) 1. Your phone may show 10 /100/1000.
5 Adjusting the Handset Rest When you connect your phone, you can ad just the handset rest so that the receiver will not sl ip out of the cradle. Use the following method to adjust the handset: 1. Set the handset aside and pull the squa re plastic tab from the handset rest.
6 Choosing Touch Screen Items T o choose items on your phone’ s touch screen, use one of the fol lowing methods: • By touch, press (or tap) touch-sensitive items on the touch scre en with your fingertip. Use only your fingertip to press the touch screen, as using any other objects could damage the disp lay .
7 Line and Call Icons The difference between lines and calls is as follows: • Lines—Each corresponds to a directory number that others can use to call you. Y ou r phone can support up to eig ht lines. T o see your phone lines, look at the rig ht si de of your touch screen.
8 2. Press the listing on the touch scree n. T o dial on-hook, w ithout a dial tone (p redial), enter a number , then go off-hook by lifting the handset, pressing the number on the touch screen, or pressing Dial , , or .
9 Ending a Call T o hang up while using the handset, retu rn the handset to its cradle. Or press EndCall . T o hang up while using a headset, press . Or , to keep headset mode active, press EndCall . T o hang up while usin g the speakerphone, press or EndCall .
10 Transferring Calls T o transfer a call without talking to the transfer recipient, use the following method: 1. From an active call, press Tr a n s f e r. 2. Enter the target number . 3. Press Tr a n s f e r again to complete the transfer or EndCa ll to cancel.
11 Conference Calls Y our Cisco Unified IP Phone provides th ree type s of conference calls: Standard, Meet -Me, and Ad Hoc conferenc e calls. Standard Conference Calls A standard conference call involves three parties.
12 Starting or Joining a Me et-Me Conference Call Meet-Me conferencing allow s you to start or join a conference by dialing the conference numbe r . T o start a Meet-Me conference, use the following method: 1. Obtain a Meet-Me phone number fr om your syste m administra tor .
13 Speed Dialing Speed dialing allows you to enter an index number , press a button, or select a phone sc reen item to place a call. Depending on the configuration, your phone can support the followin.
14 Using a Shared Line Y our system administrator can ask you to use a shared line if you: • Have multiple phones and want one phone number • Share call-handling tasks with coworkers • Handle calls on behalf of a manager Remote-in-Use Icon The remote-in-use icon appears when another phone that shares you r line has a connected call.
15 Using Cisco Extension Mobility Cisco Extension Mobility (Cisco EM) allows you to temporarily configure a Cisco Unified IP phone as your own. After you log in to EM, the phone adopts your user profile, includin g your phone lines, features, establishe d servi ces, and web-based setting s.
16 Using AutoAnswer When AutoAnswer is enabled, your phone answers incoming calls au tomatically after a few ring s. Y our system administrator configures AutoAnswer to use eith er the sp eakerphone or a headset. Y ou can use Auto Answer if you receive a high volume of incoming calls.
