CARTRIDGE IX240 Cartridge Film Visual Exposure Indicator • Only cartridges with the (unexposed) visual exposure ind ica tor can be used with this camera. • When a cartridge with other than t h e visual exposure indicator is loaded, t he c amera will rewind the film an d s e t the cartridge to (exposed).

CHECKING THE BATTERY Turn th e lens barrier sw itch to turn on the camera. Display: lights. Meaning: Battery is OK. You can shoot. Display : lights. Meanin g: Battery power i s low and should be replaced with a ne w battery. Display: blinks. Meaning: Battery power i s dead and should be replaced with a ne w battery.
Battery Handling • Observe the precautionary remarks written on t he batteries. • When the camera is not used fo r an extended period of time, remove the battery. • Keep spare batteries on hand when going on a long trip o r to a cold area. • Sweat, oil, and so on ca n prevent a battery's terminals from making electrical contact.
LOADING TH E CARTRIDGE FILM Use unexposed negative-color IX240 cartridge film (ISO 100~400). 1 . Make sure that is displayed on the camera's exposure counter.
1 . Turn th e lens barrier switch tt o turn o n the camera. 2. Look through the viewfinder and position the autofocus frame on your subject. 3. Press the shutter release button halfway to make sure the flash green lamp lights. (The focus an d exposure are locked on t he subject.
UNLOADING T H E CARTRIDGE FILM 1 . The film will be rewound automatically when the en d of t he roll is reached 2. Wait until th e motor stops and " E" an d the cartridge m ark start blink ing in the exposure counter. Th en open the cartridge cover 3.

USING THE FLASH Press the flash mode button to select the appropriate mode f o r t he shooting conditions o r your require- ments. 1 . AUTO Auto Flash: This mode is used normally. T he flash fires auto- mati cally in da rk places. 2. AUTO Red-Eye Reduction: Mini- miz es the effect which causes eyes t o appear red in pictures.
• In the Flash O f f an d Night Scene Flash modes, us e a tripod to prevent camera-shake. • When the flash mark i s displayed on the LCD panel and the green lam p blinks, the flash i s being re- charged and the shutter does not release.
SELFTIMER Attach the camera to a tripod or s im ilar support. 1 . Press the selftimer burton to display 2. Ai m at your subject, a nd press the shutter release button . The self t- imer signal will light, and the shutter will be released about 12 seconds later.
1. Do not leave the camera in an y place exposed to excessive heat, humidity, o r d i rect sunlight — fo r example, in a car or on t he beach. 2 . D o no t expose the camera to for ma li n or naphthalene. 3. I f the camera gets wet , wipe i t w ith a d ry towel.
5. Do not leave the camera on or near a television, refrigerator, or other appliance w it h a magnetic field. 6. Do not expose the camera to dust or sand as this could cause serious damage. 7 . D o no t shake or shock t h e camera. • Keep the camera i n a well-ventilated place.
• When transporting the camera from a cold plac e to a warm place or in the event o f a sudden temperature change, put the camera into a p last ic bag. This a ll ow s th e camera's temperature to change slowly. Once the camera has adj uste d t o the new temperature, you c an remove it from the bag and use it.
• Avoid l eaving th e camera unused fo r long periods of tim e. This can cause mold to grow on th e camera a s well as other problems. Try to press the shutter release button and check the operation of the camera before use. • Some air por t X-ray m ac hin es can damage the f i lm in your camera.
