Getting Started 6 Activating Y our Phone Reinstall the battery cover by sliding it back onto the phone until you hear it securely click. Make s ure the ba ttery is properl y installe d before switching on the phone. Charging a Batte r y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion batte ry .
7 Important!: Veri fy that the handset batte ry is installed prio r to connecting the t ravel adapter . If the battery is not installed and the tra vel adapter is conn ected the handse t continuously po wer cycles and prevents proper oper ation. 2. Getting Started 8 Switching the Phone On or Off Low B atter y Indicator When the batter y is weak and only a few mi nu tes of talk ti me remain; a warning tone sounds and the “Battery lo w” message repeats a t regular intervals on the display .

Power/Ac cessory Interface connector allows you to connect a power cable or optional accessories, such as a USB/data cable or a hands-free headset for convenient, hands-free conversations. 5. Call Functions 18 Making a Call Ending a C all 䊳 Briefly press the key when you want to end your call. Redialing the Last Number The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’ve dialed, received, or missed if the caller is identifi ed. T o recall any of these numbe rs: 1.
19 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, use the Volume keys on t he left side of the phone , to adjust the speaker volume. 䊳 Press the key to increas e the volume level a nd the key to decrease the level. In Idle mode, you ca n also adjust the ring vol ume using these keys.
Call Functions 20 Call Records The following Ca ll Record options are av ailable: All calls This menu lets you view th e 90 most recent calls you received, dialed, and missed. The name or number , if already stored in your Phonebook, displays with the numb er of occurrences for each number .
21 Incoming call s This menu lets you view the 30 most recent calls you received. The name and numbe r , if already sto red in your Phonebook, i s then displayed with the number of occurrences for each number . Outgoi ng calls This menu lets you view the 30 mo st recent calls you dialed.
Call Functions 22 Silent Mode Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making any noise, (in a theater for exampl e). In Idle mode, press a nd hold the key until the “S ilent Mode Acti vated” messa ge and the Silent Mode icon ( ) display .
23 Selecting Options T o view the various fu nctions and options available, you must select the one you want by: 1. Press the appropriate soft key . 2. T o select the function di splayed or the option highlighted, press the Select soft key or the key .
Call Functions 24 Selecting Functions and Options Putting a Call on Hol d Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want . If your netowrk supports this ser vice, you can also make another ca ll while a call is in progress. T o place a call on hold: 1.
25 Muting or Sending Key T ones These options allo w you to turn the key tones off or on. If the Keypad tone option is Off, your phone does not tran smit the DTMF (Dua l T one Multi-Frequency) tones of the keys, which then allows you to press ke ys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.
Call Functions 26 Selecting Functions and Options Call Waitin g The Call waiting option must be set to Activate before you can answer an incoming call while anothe r call is in progre ss. For more inform ation, refer to "Call waiting" on page 114.

39 Ke y s By default, the first lett er of an entry is capitalize d and all consecutive let ters are kept in lowercase (unless the key is used). After a character is entered, the cursor automatic ally advances to the ne xt space after two seconds or when you enter a charact er on a different key .

41 T ext Messages Short Messag e Service (S MS) allows you to se nd and receive short tex t messages to and from other mobile phones. In addition, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Ser vice (EMS), which e nables yo u to include simple graphics, melodies, and animated images in your messages.
Messages 42 E-mail Messages • Attach : allows you to attach a Namecard, Schedule, Anniversary item, Miscellaneous item, or T ask to your messa ge. • Save to Drafts : save the message to your Phone or SIM card. • Select language : allows you to set the langua ge to English, Français, and Español.
43 E-mail Se tup This options allows you to select t he e-mail a ccounts you want to use. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to ac ce ss the Menu mode. 2. Using the Navigation keys, scroll to the IM and E-mail icon . Press the Select soft key or the key to enter t he menu.
Messages 44 Picture Messages A Picture Messaging message is a multim edia presentation contained in a si ngle file. It is not a text fi le with attachments. Y ou must first retrieve a picture message from T-Mobile’ s vo ice mail server before you can view the message.
45 • Downloaded videos : displays a list of downloaded videos. • Videos : displays a list of previously downloaded videos. • Memory card : allows you to insert an image or video from the memory card. This option displays only if you have a memory card inserted.
Messages 46 Voice Note 21. Highlight one of the foll ow ing send options, press the Se nd soft ke y or the key: • Recent recipients : allows you to select a number or an address from the last 30 desti nations you ente red. • Phonebo ok : allows you to enter the phone number you want from your phonebook.

Messages 48 Inbox The following types of messages may displ ay in your inbox: Voic e n ot e T ext me ssages Picture messag es Push messages When you ente r the Inbox, the list of messages disp lays with the sender’ s phone numbers, or names, if available in your Ph onebook.
49 Press the Options soft key while readi ng a te xt message to display the following: • Reply via : allows you to send a reply to the sender by sending a T ext message, Picture message, or Voice note. • Call back : Places a call back to the num ber .
Messages 50 Inbox • Properties: shows you information about the me ssa ge, such as time and date the message was received, the sender ’ s e-mail address or phone number , recipient’ s e-mail address or phone num ber , Cc, message size, priority , and class.
51 •P l a y : plays back your V oice note. • Re-record : discards the previous V oice note and enables you to record a new voice note. • Set default destination : allow s you to re move or edit the default destination. •S e t a s : allows you to save the Voice note as a Ringtone, Caller ringtone, or Alarm tone.

Messages 54 Delete all - Or - 5. Select Voice server number to change the voice mail server number , if necessary . Note: V oice mail is a n etwork feature. Ple ase contact T-Mobile customer service fo r further details. Delete all This menu allows you to dele te all of the messages in each message box.
55 Picture messa ge Use the following op tions to set Send and Receiv e settings for Pi cture messages. Send Settings • Delivery report : when this option is enabled, t he network informs you whether o r not your message was delivered.
Messages 56 Broadcast Messages (SIM Card Dependent) Receiving op tions This option al lows you to determine whether to receive or reject Bro adcast messages. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Using the Na vigation keys, scroll to the Messages icon.

Understanding Y our Phonebook 66 Management Default saving The Def ault saving option al lows you to choose where your c ontacts are saved. The following opti ons are available: • Phone : new phonebook contacts are saved to your phone. Y our phone comes with the default set to Phone.

If the software does not recognize your comma nd the following message displays “Sorry , no match found, ” and voice recogni tion turns off.

At the voice prompt, press the Settings soft key and select one of the following: • Choice lists - Automatic : V oiceSignal displays a choice list on ly when it is not sure if it has correctly recognized the name or number . - Always On : VoiceSignal always displays a choi ce list, even when there is only one choice.

Organizer 90 Alarm • Auto power -up : alar m rings at the sp ecified time even if the phone is turned off. If the option is set to Off and the phone is switched off at the specified ti me, the alarm does not ring. T o set the alarm: 1. After selecti ng an alarm, highlight the Alarm option and press the key .
91 Calendar With the Calendar feature, you can: • Consult the calenda r by month, week, or day . • Set schedules and note anniversaries • Make a tasks list. • Write memos to keep tr ack of your schedule. • Set an alarm to act as a reminder , if necessary .
Organizer 92 Calendar Week view When you select this option, the calend ar displays the select ed week with today’ s date and time highlighted. The following o ptions are availa ble when you press the Options soft key: • View m od e : takes you to the Da y view or Month view of the selected day .
93 Anniv ersar y This option allows you to reco rd Anniversaries in your ca lendar . Y ou can also set an alarm to remind yo u of important anniversaries . 1. Highlight the Anniversary option and press the Select soft key or the key . 2. Press the Options soft key .
