In Active/A ctive F ailover, each controller in the redundant pair has one active SC SI host port and one pas - sive SCSI host port .
RAID Array 3000 Controller Shel f 2–4 EK–SMCPQ–UG. C01 From the storage s helf’s pers pective, the controller receives the I/O requests from the host and directs them to the devices.

Chapter 2. RAID A rray Controller EK–SMCPQ–U G . C01 2–11 2.6. 2 RAID 1 RAID 1 (als o known as mirroring or s hadowing) takes data sent by the host and duplicates it on all th e drives in an ar ray. The r esult is a high degree o f data availability, since you can lose all but one drive in the array and still have full access to your data.

RAID Array 3000 Controller Shel f 2–14 EK–SMCPQ–U G . C01 In th e event of a sin gle driv e failur e, a RAI D 4 array w ill contin ue to o perate in degraded mode. If the failed drive is a data drive, writes will continue as normal, except no data will b e written to the failed drive.

Chapter 2. RAID A rray Controller EK–SMCPQ–U G . C01 2–17 When one controller fails, the survivor w ill process all I/O requests until the failed controller is repaired and powered on. The s ubsystem w ill then return to its prev ious state ( i.
