Preface 4 Preface DuoScan f40 c an scan ref lective and trans parent originals, eac h on an independent scan bed. T he scanner us es the T winplate scanning technology, allowing y ou to prepare transparent originals while scanning ref lective originals and vice versa.

Chapter 3: Pl acing Your Orig inals 23 Placing Transparent Originals W hen you scan transparent originals , y ou use the univers al transparenc y plate or the batch slide holder fr ame, which you put into the transparency tray of the sc anner.
Chapter 3: Pl acing Your Orig inals 24 Using the Universal Transparency Plate Caution : W hen you use the universal transparenc y plate, you alw ay s have to attach your transparent or iginals with the single slide holders or with adhesive tape. Otherwise you might loose them in the s canner.
Chapter 3: Pl acing Your Orig inals 25 Using the Single Slide Holders You put y our or iginals in a single s lide holder to m ake s ure that the original lies flat on the glass plate and to avoid overexposur e near the edges. T here are three s izes of single slide holder s: 35 mm , 6 x 6 cm , and 4 x 5 inch.
Chapter 3: Pl acing Your Orig inals 26 Using the Batch Sli de Holders Batch slide holders are used in order to increase the pr oductivity of the scanner. T he concept of the batch slide holders is developed so that a var iety of c ombinations are poss ible.
