3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES DANGER: This machine was built to be operated according to the rules for safe operation in this manual. As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or er ror on the part of the operator can result in serious injury.

5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER Unpacking Fr om Carton • Cut along c orners of the car ton and lay it do wn flat. Remove pac king mater ial. • Remove an y loose par ts included with unit (i.e ., operator ’ s manual, etc.) . • Roll unit out of carton.

Refer to p age 9 o f this manual for instructio ns. Assembling Disc harge Ch ute • Turn the ch ute crank until the chut e faces straight to the front.
7 Discharge Chute The angle of the discha rge chute c ontrols the distanc e that the sn ow is thrown. Tilt the dischar ge chute up fo r greater distance; tilt down for less distance. Lo osen the hand kn ob on the side of the discharge chute to adjus t.
8 • If you have a grounded three-prong r eceptacle, proceed as follo ws. • Rotate c hoke l ever to F ULL pos ition. • Connect power cord to switch box o n das h panel . Plug the other end of power cord into a three -prong 120-volt, gr ounded, AC r eceptacle.
9 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS Shave Plate • To check the adjustment of the shave plate, pl ace the un it on a leve l surfac e. See Figu re 8. The wheels, sh ave plate an d augers s hould all conta ct leve l surfac e. Note that if the sh ave plat e is adjusted too high, snow may bl ow under the housing.
10 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR SNOW THROWER Replacing Belt • Remove the belt cover by removing fiv e hex screws. Se e Figure 12. Fig ure 1 2 • Pull up on the idler pul ley and sl ip the bel t off the engine p ulley. • Push down on the idler pull ey and slip the be lt off the a uger pu lley.
11 SECTION 7: OFF-SEASON STORAGE • Clean sno w thrower thoro ughly. • Lubric ate as instru cted abo ve w ith a l ight oil . • Follow “ Stor age ” inst ructions in the En gine Ma nual. • Store in a clean, dry area. B lock the snow th rower up so it is not resting on the ru bber auger bl ades.
