3 Using Y our Projector T urning Y our Projector On NOTE: T urn on the projector before you turn on the source (computer , DVD player , etc.). The Powe r button light blinks blue until pressed. 1 Remove the lens cap. 2 Connect the power cord and a ppropriat e signal cables.

Adjusting the Projector Zoom and Focus CAUTION: T o avoid damaging the projector , ensure that the zoom lens and elevator foot are fully retracted before moving the projector or placing the projector in its carrying case. 1 Rotate the zoom tab to zoom in and out.

7 Video mode The projector has pr eset configurations that ar e optimized for displaying data (presentation slides) or video (movies, games, etc.). P ress the V ideo Mode button to toggle between P resentation mode , Bright mode , Movie mode , sRGB , or Custom mode .

Installing the Remote Control Batteries NOTE: Remove the batteries from the remote control when not in use. 1 P ress the tab to lift the battery compartment cover . 1 2 Check the polarity (+/-) marking on the batteri es. 3 Insert the batteries and alig n their polarity correctly accor ding to th e marking in the batter y compartm ent.

Using the On-Screen Display • The projecto r has a multi-langu age On-Scr een Disp lay (OSD) Me nu that can be displayed w ith or witho ut an inp ut source . • T o navigate through t he tabs in the Mai n Menu, press the or buttons on your projecto r ’s contro l panel or remote control.
INPUT SELECT The Input Select menu allows you to select your projector ’s input source. A UTO S OURCE — Select Off (the default) to lock the current input signal. If you press the Source button when the Aut o Source mode is set to Off , you can manually select the input signal.
VGA-B— Use and to enable or disable VGA-B input. S-V IDEO — Use and to enable or disable S- Video input. C OMPOSITE V IDEO — Use and to enable or disable Composite Video input. HDMI— Use and to enable or disable HDMI input. NOTE: Y ou cannot disable your current input source.
PICTURE (in V ideo Mode) Using the Pi c tu r e menu, you can adjust the display settings of your projector . The Pictur e menu provides the following opt ions: V IDEO MODE — Allows you to optimize the display image: P resentation , Bright , Movie , sRGB (provides more accurate color r epresentation), and Custom (set your preferr ed settings).
PICTURE ADV ANCED Using the Pictur e Advanced menu, you can adjust the display settings of your projector . The Pictur e Advanced menu provides the following options: W HITE I NTENSITY — Use and to adjust the display white intensity . C OLOR T EMP — Allows you to adjust the color temperature.
• Original — Select Orig inal to mainta in the aspect rati o of image project ed according to input s ource. • 4:3 — The input sou rce scales to fit the scr een and projects a 4:3 image. • W i de — The input source scales to fi t the width of the screen to project a wide scr een imag e.
DISPLA Y (in Vide o Mode) Using the Dis play menu, you can adjust the display settings of your projector . The Pictur e menu provides the following opt ions: A SPECT R ATIO — Allows you to select the aspect ratio to adjust how the image appears.
LAMP Using the Lamp menu, you can adjust the display settings of your projector . The Lamp menu provides the following options: L AMP M ODE — Allows you to select between Normal and ECO mode.
L ANGUAGE — Allows you to set the language for the O SD. P ress on the control panel or press Enter button on the re mote control to activate the Language menu. P ROJECTOR M ODE — Allows you to select the projector mode, dependin g upon how the projector is mounted.
3D D ISPLAY — Select On to start the 3D display function. Default is Off. NOTE: T o activate 3D Display function, ensure that 3D goggles, 3D video contents and 60Hz/120Hz signal output graphic card supported on PC/NB are ready .
IP A DDRESS — Automatically or manually assigns the IP addr ess to the projector connected to the network. S UBNET M ASK — Configur e the Subnet Mask of the network connection . G ATEWAY — Check the Gateway addr ess with your network/system administrator if you configure it manually .
M ENU S ETTINGS — Select and press on the control panel or press Enter button on the r emote control to activate menu settings. The menu settings consists of the following options: M ENU P OSITION — Allows you to change the position of the OSD menu on the screen.
S CREEN — Select Dell to use the Dell logo as wall paper . Select Captured to set the captured image as wallpaper . R ESET — Select and press on the control panel or press Ente r button on the remote control to delete the captur ed pictur e and set back to the default setting.
If an input signal is not detected during the delay period, the projector turns off the lamp and goes into power saving mode. If an input signal is detected within the delay peri od, the projector automatically turns on.
a Go to Others menu, press on the control panel or press Enter button on the remote control and then select Pa s s w o r d to Enable the password setting. b Enabling the P assword function will pop up a character screen, key in a 4-digit number from the screen and press on the control panel or press Enter button on the remote control.
4 T o delete the password , select Delete. C HANGE P ASSWORD — K ey in the original passwor d, then enter the new password and confirm the new passwor d again. C LOSED C APTION — Select On to enable close caption and activate the closed caption menu.
NOTE: Closed caption option is available for NTSC only . T EST P ATTERN — T est P attern is used to test focus and resolution. Y ou can enable or disable the Te s t Pa t t e r n by selecting Off, 1 or 2 . Y ou can also invoke the Te s t P a t t e r n 1 by pressing and holding down and buttons on the control panel simultaneously for 2 seconds.
Managing the Projector From W eb Management Configuring the Network Setting If the projector is co nnected to a network, you can access the projector using a web browser by configuring the network sett ing (TCP/IP). When using the network function, the IP addre ss should be uniqu e.
Managing Properti es Home • Access the W e b Management Home page by entering the projector’s IP address a t the web browser . See "Network" on page 40.
Network Settings See OSD section on page 40. •S e t u p t h e Model Name , Pr o j e c t o r Na me , Locat i on and Contact information (up to 21 characters for each field). Press Save to stor e the settings. • Choose DHCP to assign an IP address to the projector from a DHCP server automatically , or Manual to assign an IP addr ess manually .
Projector Status and Con trol Page • Pr o j ec t o r S t a t u s : There are 5 status: Lamp On, Standby , P ower Saving, Cooling and W arming up. Click the Re fr e sh button to refresh t he status and control settings. • Po w e r S a v i n g : P ower Saving can be set to Off, 30, 60, 90, or 120 minute s.
- Bright: Maximum bright ness and contrast . - Movie: F or viewing movi e & photo . - sRGB : P rovide a mor e accurate color r epr esentation. - Custom: User prefer red settings . • Blank Scr een : Y ou can select On or Off. • Aspect Ratio : Allows yo u to select the aspect ratio to adjust how the image appears.
E-mail Alert • E-ma il Alert: Y ou can set whether to be notified by email (Enable) or not (Disable). • T o/CC/F rom: Y ou can enter email address of sender (F rom) and recipients (T o/Cc) to receive notification when an abnormality or warning occurs.
Password Setting Use P assword Setting to set up an administrator password to access the We b Management . When enabling password for the first time, set the passwor d befor e enabling it. When the passwor d function is enabled, the administrator password will be r equired for acce ssing the W eb Management .
Login Page • Administrator P assword : Enter the Administrator P assword and click Login. Using Y our Projector 55.
Firmware Update Use the F irmware Update page to update your projector’s firmware. P ress Update to start. • Please w ait till the count r eaches 0.
• W ait for 3 seconds and it will proceed to the ne xt step automatically. • Select the fi le to upgrade and click t he Upgrade button. When upgrading is in progr ess, the Cancel button is disabled.
• Please w ait till the count r eaches 0. • When upgrade i s complete, please click the ReL o gin button to go back to the W eb Management Home P age.
TIPS: I would like r emote access the projector via Internet. What is the better setting for the browser? T o have a better setting for the browser , please follow the steps below: 1 Open Control P anel Internet Options General tab Te m p o r a r y I n t e r n e t F i l e s Settings Select Every visit to the pages .
Why am I unable to access the SMTP server? 1 Check with yo ur MIS or netw ork administrator wh ether the SMTP serv er function is open for th e projector and th e IP assigned to the projecto r is allowed to access the SMTP server . The projector ’s SMTP socke t port number is 25, this cannot be changed.
4 T roubleshooting Y our Projector If you experience problems with your pr ojector , see the following troubleshooting tips. If the problem persists, contact Dell™. See Contacting Dell™ on page 74. Changing the Lamp CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedure s in this section, follow the Safety Instructions as describ ed on page 7. Replace the lamp when the message " Lamp is approaching the end of i ts useful life in the operation. Rep lacement sug gested! www.
9 Reset the lamp us age time by selecting "Y es" for Lamp Reset in the OS D Lamp tab (see Lamp menu on page 38 ). When a new lamp module has been chan ged, the projector will automatically de tect and reset the lamp hours.

Appendix: Glossary ANSI L UMENS — A standard for measuring the brightne ss. It is calculated by dividing a square meter image into nine equal r ectangles, measuring the lux (or brightness) reading at the center of ea ch r ectangle, and averaging these nine points.
dB — decibel — A unit used to express r elative difference in powe r or intensity , usually between two acoustic or electric signals, equal to ten times the common logarithm of the ratio of the two levels. Diagonal Screen — A method of measuring the size of a screen or a projected image.
NTSC — National T elevision Standar ds Committee. North American standard for video and broadcasting, with a video format of 525 lines at 30 frames per second. PA L — Phase Alternating Line. A European broadcast standard for video and broadcasting, with a video format of 625 lines at 25 frames per second.
