Log in to Network Discov ery | 71 Setup Guide Note: Account names are all lowercase. Passwords are case-sensitive. “PASSWORD” and “pas sword” are two different passwords. Once the account name and pass word are accepted, the Network Discovery Home page and Toolbar appear.

The Toolbar | 75 Setup Guide The T oolbar The Toolbar provides a way to naviga te through Network Discovery. The Toolbar has three main parts: banner or title bar buttons status window There are three groups of Toolbar button s. Some buttons may be unavailable, depending on your license.
76 | Appliance Management Network Discovery Assign a syst em name, contact, and location “System name” is the name of the network or part of the network that Network Discovery is currently managing . The system name is displayed in the Toolbar banner.

About disabling warnings | 89 Setup Guide About disabling w arnings The use of a UPS (Uninterruptible Po wer Supply), an internal mode m and regular backups of Netwo rk Discovery data are all highl y recommended.

How it w orks To see what licenses are cu rrently installed on your Peregrine appliance, see Status > Current Settings > Installed Licenses .
92 | Licenses Network Discovery You can use Network Discovery with this default license temporarily, or you can go ahead and request the license that will give you the full functionali ty you purchased, as well as the most up-to-date softwa re components.

Set up the IPv4 range(s) to discover | 99 Setup Guide Groups/Sets in the CSV file, and you do not select a default, the IP range will not be imported. 5 Click Import . Once you import the CSV file, you will see a report explaining whether or not the import was successful.

If the range has subranges, Network Discovery gives you a ch oice of deleting only the range or of deleting the range plus all of its subranges.

102 | Set up Network Discover y Network Discovery Add ranges for DHCP ser v ers and unmanaged routers If you have one or more DHCP servers or you have unmanaged routers, add their IPv4 addresses and apply the appropriate Property Group so that Network Discovery will monitor th e ranges differently.
Add community strings—the quick way | 1 03 Setup Guide Here’s how it works. You give commun ity strings to a Community Proper ty Group and the n appl y the Community Pr operty Group to an IPv4 range. For now, just add all your co mmunity strings to on e Property Group, the “glo bal” Community Property Group.
104 | Set up Network Discover y Network Discovery Activa te your pr oposed changes The Activate Changes page allows you to revi ew all the changes you have proposed for Netwo rk Discovery network configuration before actually making those change s take effect.
Check that it’s working | 105 Setup Guide Peregrine Systems recommends waitin g at least 48 ho urs while Network Discovery is first discovering your network. If you have concerns after th at, call customer support. Are de vices appearing on the Net w ork Map? Within the next few minutes, you can chec k that network discovery is occurri ng.
