7 INTRODUCTION Thank you f or choosing this automatic espresso and cappuc cino machine. W e hope you enjoy using y our new appliance. T ake a few minutes to r ead this Instruction for Use. This will av oid all risks and damage to the appliance. Symbols used in these instructions Important warnings are identied by these symbols .
8 This is a household appliance only . It is not intended t o be used in: • sta kitchen ar eas in shops, oc es and other working en vironmen ts; • farm houses; • by clients in hotels , motels and other re- sidential type environmen ts; • bed and breakfast type environmen ts.
9 Installing the appliance Important! When you install the appliance , you should r espect the fol- lowing safety warnings: • The appliance giv es o heat.
10 Danger of burns! During rinsing, a little hot wa ter ows from the c oee spouts. Av oid contact with splashes of water . • T o turn the appliance o , press the button (g . 8). • The message “ T urning o, Please w ait” is displayed: if fea- tured, the applianc e completes a rinse cycle and then goes o (standby).
11 Proceed as f ollows: 1. Press the MENU/ESC button to en ter the menu; 2. Press < or > (g . 9) until “Cup w armer” is displayed; 3. Press the OK button: “Enable?” or “Disable?” will be displayed 4.
12 MAKING COFFEE Selec ting the coee taste The appliance is set by default t o make coee with a standar d taste. Y ou can also choose one of these tastes: Extra-mild taste Mild taste Standard taste Strong taste Extra-strong taste T o change the taste, press the button (g .
13 Please note! • Various alarm messages could be displa yed while using the machine (FILL T ANK , EMPTY GROUNDS CONT AINER, etc.). Their meaning is explained in the section “Displayed messages” (page 22). • For hotter c oee, see the section “Tips for a hotter coee” (page 12).
14 6. A ttach the milk container to the connection nozzle and push as far as it will go (g. 23). The machine emits a beep (if the beep function is enabled). 7. Place a suciently lar ge cup under the coee and frothed milk spouts. Adjust the length of the milk spout .
15 Programming the quantity of coee and milk in the cup for the CAPPUCCINO , FLA T WHITE and LA T TE buttons The appliance is set by default t o automatically deliver standar d quantities. T o change these quantities, proceed as follo ws: 1. Plac e a cup under the coee spouts and milk spout.
16 Tips for using steam to froth milk • When choosing the size of the container , bear in mind that the liquid doubles or triples in volume. • For a richer denser fr oth, use fresh skimmed or partially skimmed milk at refriger ator temper ature (about 5°C).
17 Cleaning the inside of the coee machine Danger of electric shock! Before cleaning internal parts, the machine must be turned o (see “T urning o ”) and unplugged from the mains power sup- ply . Never immerse the coee machine in water .
