The “Open Ratio” v alue displayed on the screen is the ratio of R1/(R2+R1) times 100. This value is used by some companies as part of the K-T est measurement.
K-T est Re sults The 965DSP will display the following screen if there are no problems with the “Close Far-End” portion of the test: The 965DSP disp lays the Resistanc e to Strap (R TS), Resis tance to Faults (R TF) and th e Res istance Strap to Faul ts (R STF).
K-T est Su mmary If you press the [Enter] key in the previous screen, the 965DSP will display the following summary of up to fi ve K-T est results: The 965DSP disp lays the Resistanc e to Fa ults (R TF), Resistanc e Str ap to F aults (RSTF), and the Resist ance to St rap (R TS) for up to fi ve measu rements.
K-T est Er ror: Flip red and gr een The 965DSP will f irst make a measurement to verify that the heavier f ault is connected to red and the lighter fault is connected to green.
K-T est Er ror: R1<2 *R2 The 965DSP checks to see that the fault on the green lead is at least twice the value of the f ault on the red lead. This screen indicates that the ratio of the f aults is too low . Press [Ent er] to ret urn to the init ial “K-T est Ho okup: Open Fa r-En d” sc reen.
K-T est Er ror: Rloop > 7k Ω The 965DSP checks to see if the resistance of the loop is less than 7k Ω . If the resistance is greater than 7k Ω , then the distance to strap may be too long, the strap is not connected, or the far -end switch did not switch properly .
K-T est Er ror: R1+R2<10 0*Rloop T he 96 5D SP c he ck s t o s e e t ha t t he s um of th e f au lt s i s m or e t ha n 1 0 0 t im es th e lo op re si s ta nc e. 68 2) The temper atur e is unknow n. In this case the scree n wil l sho w the ente red Distance to Strap (or the sum of all se ctions) in the main result box, and will sho w the calculate d tem perature at the bottom. The screen also sho ws the numb er of the fau lted secti on at the lo wer right side of the screen.
RFL Errors One of sev eral errors may occur during an RFL multi-section measurement. If the RFL measurement terminates due to a time- out, a “Y ield Sign” will be displayed ne xt to the DSTF or RSTF result, as shown. This indicates that the results may not be accurate.
If the temperat ure is kno wn an d the tota l of the speci fied sect ion lengths is greater than the measur ed dista nce to str ap, then the ca lculated unkn own secti on le ngth would be neg ati ve.
