1 Section 1 Getting to Know Your Digital Camera O v e r v i e w Your new digital cam era delivers high quality images at up to 2976x2232 resoluti on as well as short movie clips using a 3.2-Megapixel CMOS sen sor. With the optical viewfinder and built-in 1.
2 R ear V i e w Ö The mode button ( ) is used to switch between the two main operation mod es. Turn to section 3, Camera Mod e , and section 4, Playback Mode , for full details Ö The direction button ( ) is used in Camera Mode for general setti ng, and in the Playback Mode to navigate through me nus.
3 Ö For information on fitting batteries, turn to Loading the Battery in section 2. Ö To learn how to install a memory card, turn to Inserting an Optional SD Card in section 2.
4 Section 2 Getting Up and Running Lo a ding the B a tterie s You must load 2 AA size alkaline batteries before the camera can be use d: 1. Press down and hold the release button, and slide the battery/SD Card cover in the direction of the arrow to release the cover.
5 Note A memory card that has previou sly been used in another device m ay have to be formatted before it can be used. Turn to Formatting a Memory Card in section 3 for details. Note When a memory card is fitted, im ages and movie clips are saved on the card rather than on the built-in memory .
6 T u r n i ng t h e C a me r a O n a n d G e t t i n g S t a r t e d To turn on once the batteries are loaded: 1. Open the lens cover first, and then press down and hold the power button for ONE second. 2. When the camera is turned on, the GREEN LED underne ath the direction button will light up.
7 Section 3 Camera Mode Di r ect i o n B u tt o n Function s The Camera Mode is for taking p hotos and short movies. In this mode, the directi on button has the following functions: Right button : LCD.
8 T aki n g Photo s Once your camera is turne d on, you can comp ose pictures u sing the viewfinder or the LCD monitor. Using the viewfinder will save battery power. You may find it easier to compose your pictures with the LCD monitor however. Close-up shots in particular will be more accurate if composed through the LCD monitor.
9 T aki n g M o vie s Taking short movies is sim ple with your camera . Simply set your camera to Movie Mode, frame your picture using the viewfinder or LCD monitor and press the shutter button to start recording.
10 Us i ng t h e Self-Ti m e r The self-timer allows you to take photos with a 10-secon d time delay so that you can join the scene in the photo. Note Before taking a self-timer photo, en sure the camera is placed securely such a s on a level surface or a tripod.

13 T aki n g Photos Co n t inu o us l y With the camera set to Multisnap Mode, you can take up to FIVE photos. To enter Multisnap Mode, use the direction b utton to select the multisnap icon ( ) and press the enter button. C h ang i n g R esol u t i on Your camera gives you the optio n of taking photos at differe nt resolutions.
14 Us i ng t h e F la s h Your camera has two flash settings: Ö Auto-flash : the flash fires automatically according to lighting conditions. Use this mode for general photogra phy Ö Flash Off : the flash won’t fire under any circumsta nces.
15 Ad v anc e d Setting s The Advanced Settings submenu contains options for configuring your camera set up and more advanced options to improve the quality of your photos. You can set the following options by press the direction but ton and the n enter button.
16 Format Card ● Y es ● No (default) Language ● English (default) ● German ● French ● Italian ● Span is h ● Portuguese Exit Select to exit Advanced Settings and Camera Mode Options menus. Adjusting Exposure Your camera adjusts image exposure automatically depending on lighting co nditions.
17 Adjusting White Balance Your camera adjusts the color balan ce of images automatically depending on lighting conditions. You can override the automatic setting if you wish. Four white balance settings are available: Ö Automatic: The camera automatically adjust s w hi te balance.
18 Quick Review Settings Quick Review allows you to have a look at your photos after you have taken them. With Quick Review on, images are displayed for TWO seconds on th e LCD monitor immediately after they are taken.
19 Sound Settings You can enable sound effects to signal power on and off, and taking of photos and movie clips. Ö ON : Enable audio effects Ö OFF : Disable audio effects Formatting a Memory Card This camera only supports memory card s with the FAT16 format.
20 Selecting Interface Language You can change the interface language. The following languages are available: Ö English Ö German Ö French Ö It alian Ö Span ish Ö Portuguese.

Displaying Single Images The default setting for viewing stored image s is as single images ( ).
23 1. When in Playback Mode, press the Enter button to open the Options Menu ap pears. The Display Mode submenu is the first item. 2. Use the Up or Down direction key to hig hlight the Slideshow icon ( ). 3. Press the Enter button again to launch the slideshow.
24 1. In Playback Mode, locate the image or movie clip you want to delete. 2. When the image (or first frame of movie clip) is displayed, press Enter. 3. Open the Deletion Menu ( ). 4. Select either Single Image Deletion ( ) or All Image Deletion ( ).
25 Us i ng DPOF S e tt i ng s DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) makes prin ting your photos extremely simple. You only have to select which phot os you want to have printed using the DPOF submenu and then insert your card into a compatible print er (or give the card to a printing servi ce) to print the selected images out.
26 Section 5 Viewing Photos and Movie Clips on a TV C o nne c ting t h e C a me r a to a T el e vis i o n You can view stored images and movie clips on a television. To connect to a television: 1. Connect one end of the movie cable to your camera’s TV Out port.
27 Section 6 Transferring Data to a Computer You can transfer image s and movie clips stored on your camera to a computer and send th em in emails to friends or post them on websites. To do this you should: 1. Install the digital camera driver on your computer 2.
28 C o nne c ting Y o u r Came r a to a C o mp u t e r Your camera connects to a compute r through a USB cable such as that provided in the camera package. 1. Connect the computer and camera with the suppli ed USB cable. 2. Press the PC Mode/Movie button to switch between Mass S torage Mode and PC Camera Mode.
29 Installing Bundled Soft w a r e The CD-ROM supplied with your cam era contains three pieces of software. Ö ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3 is a user-fri endly applicat ion that helps you retouch, edit and organize images. Ö ArcSoft VideoImpression 2. 0 allows you to edit movie clips and is equally easy to use.
30 Section 7 Troubleshooting Can’t turn the camera on The batteries may not be installed or may be incorre ctly installed: Check the batteries and en sure they are oriented correctly. The Battery / SD Card Cover may be open: Close the cover. The batteries may be out of power: Replace the b atteries.
