W A RNING 8 Nev er dismount mower w ithout apply ing parking brake or stopping engine. Protect your eyes. Alw ays wear safety goggles or safety glass es with side shields when operating mower . Data indicates that operators, age 60 years and above, are involved in a large percentage of riding mower- rel ated inj urie s.
W A RNING 9 SL OPE OP ER A TI ON : Slopes are a major factor related to loss-of-c ontrol and tip-ove r acciden ts, which can result in severe injury or death. All slopes require extra caution. If you feel uneasy on a slope, do not mow it! DO Mow across the slope with your Dixon® ZTR® -- never up or down.
W A RNING 10 Keep all movement on the slopes slow and gradual. Do not make sudden changes in speed or direction. Us e extre me caution w hen opera ting the mowe r w ith attac hments to preve nt tip -ov er or r oll -over . If front w heels li ft off the ground , pull le vers back to sta bili ze the mower .

W A RNING 12 FIRE HA ZA RDS: Us e extra care when handl ing gasolin e and other fuel s. They are flammabl e and va pors are explos iv e. Store all fuel in approved contai ners specifically desi gned for that purpose. Allo w engi ne to cool before refueling .
W A RNING 13 FIRE HA ZA RDS (continued): T o prevent fire or explosion, keep sparks and open flames away from battery . Keep electrical connections clean and tight. Inspect them often. Loose connections and corrosion i ncrease fire risk. Before disconnecting the negative ground cable, make sure all sw itches are off.
W A RNING 14 CHI LDRE N: Tragi c accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are attracted to lawn mowers and the mo wing act ivit y . NEVER assume children will stay where they were last seen. Be alert to avoid accid ents.
W A RNING 15 S ER VI CE : Never run a mower inside a closed area or without proper ven tila tion . Keep nuts and bolts tight, especia lly blade attachment bolts, and keep equipment in good condition. Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper ope ratio n regularly .

18 SEA T A DJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1 . Raise seat assembly . 2 . Loosen four bolts under seat plate, and slide seat to desired position. 3 . T ighten seat bolts. DO NOT operate mower w ith out sea t bol ts proper ly tig htened. 4 . Low er seat assembly .
CON TRO LS 19 CONT ROL LEVE RS Note: For access to the seat, move control levers to neutral positi on and swing them outward. TO GO FOR WARD •F rom neut ral pos iti on, gent ly pus h contr ol lev ers for- w ard. •T o increas e speed, mov e levers furthe r forw ard.
CON TRO LS 20 P A RKING BRA KE: The parking brake is designed to hold the mower from moving and is not intended for use in stoppin g the mower while it is in motion. The engine will stop if the parking brake is engag ed whi le the control lev ers are in the drive position.
CON TRO LS 21 BLADE DRIVE : •Located on the control panel, on operator ’ s rig ht. •T o engage the mower blade , pull up on the switch . •T o diseng age mower blade, push down. CIRCUIT BREA KER: •Protection of the electrical system is by (1) 15 amp circ uit breaker .
CON TRO LS 22 MOWER DECK CUT HEIGHT LIFT LEVER: •Use right foot to operate deck foot pedal at rig ht front foot area. •T o raise mower deck, push forwar d with right foot on top portion of foot pedal.
OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 23 The safe and succes sful operatio n of the S peedZTR™ will depend upon the operator having the corr ect knowledg e of all controls used on the mowe r and makin g good judge ments about the terrain to be mowed.

OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 25 T OWING TRA ILERS A ND OTHER A T T AC H M E N T S : T owi ng a trailer or other attachmen t that is too heav y could damage the drive or cause the mower to become unstable. Limit loads to 250 pounds or less with this mo wer .

OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 28 MOWING WITH A MULCHING A TT A CHMENT : Mulchin g or recycling the grass clippings requi res a tot all y differe nt mowing appro ach than woul d be normal when side discharging or bagging the grass. There may be instances or conditions where it is not possible to hide all the recycled or mulched clippings .
OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 29 MOWING WITH A MULCHING A TT ACHMENT (c on ti nu ed ): 7 . Keep the underside of the mower deck clean. Remov e all grass and dirt buil d-up from the under side of the pan, the baffles and deflec tors after each use.

OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 31 MOWING WITH A GRASS CA TCHER A T T AC H M E N T (c on ti nu ed ): 7 . Maintain sharp blades throughou t the cutting season. Some grass catching attachments require a “hig h-lift” blade. See you r dealer for adv ice on the typ e of blade(s) needed for your mower .

OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS 33 GRA SS HEIGHT & CUTTING SUGGESTIONS: Do not attempt to cut grass when it is wet. If the grass is tall, place the mow er deck cut heigh t lev er in the top or second notc h. “Init ially ” overl ap cutt ing swaths inst ead of a full swath with each pass.

CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 35 CUTTE R BLADE M A INT ENANCE: C A U TI O N S top engine and remove ignition key for safet y . Wear heav y , thick glov es when holdin g onto cutter blade, avoid the sharp edge of the blade. Blades should be discarded when worn excessively .

CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 37 T I R E S : Correct tire pressure is essential for efficient operation of the mower . Check tire pressure periodically . Inflate tires to the pressure listed bel ow . Front tires 1 1 x 4.00 - 5 16-21 lbs. Rear tires 36” & 38” 18 x7.
CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 38 B E LT S : Chec k belts every 50 hours. Replace any belts found to be in poor condition. BE L T TE NS ION : Engine to Mower Deck Belt: 36” - P/N 10669 38” - P/N 14136 42” - P/N 61515 44” - P/N 1 1305 T o adjus t tension of the mower deck drive belt, turn adjuster nut on threaded ey ebolt.

CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 40 CAUTI ON HOT oil may cause burns . Allow engine to cool befo re draining oil. CHA NGING THE ENGINE OIL: 1 . The “Dapco” oil drain valv e is located on the left side of the eng ine cr ankcase. 2 . Plac e a suit able conta iner under the drain valv e ho se.

CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 44 MOWER DECK LEVELING PROCEDURE : 1. Set the tire pressure on all four tires. 2. Mov e the mower to a hard, level surface and rotate front casters in the direction of forward travel. 3. Put the mow er deck i n the mid-range cut height position.
CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 45 DE CK RE M OV AL: 1 . Remove mower deck drive belt. 2. Release spring from trailing rod (2 places). R e mo v e h ai rp in co tt er fr o m th e oth er end o f tr ai li ng ro ds (2 places) and detach rods from deck. 3. Remove hairpin cotter from top of front L-Rods (2 places) and detach L-Rods from lift arms.
CA RE A ND MA INTENA NCE 46 E LE C TR I CAL S YST E M S : Keep all connection s clean and tig ht. CLEA NING THE MOWER: Wash mower periodically . Clean above and below deck. High pressure washing and alkaline based soaps can cause damage to bearings and other parts of the mower .
