Setting up your T V 7 Setting up your T V Installing remote contr ol batt eries T o install remote contr ol batteries: 1 Open the batter y compar tment. 2 Inser t t wo AAA b atteries i nto the batter y comp ar tment. Make sure that the + and – sy mbols on the b atteries match the + and – sym bols in the batter y co mpar tm ent.

The r ange of th e remote c ontrol may be diminished if direct sunlight o r other str ong light is shining at the r emote co ntrol sensor .
Setting up your T V 9 Connec ting a comp onent vid eo device T o connect a component video device: 1 Connect a component video cable to the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT ( Y , P b , and Pr) jacks on the component d evice , then connec t the other end of the cable to the COMP O NE NT I N jacks on the back of your T V .
10 Using your T V Connec ting a compu ter The TV can operate as the computer monitor . T o connec t a computer: 1 Connect one end of a VGA cable to the VGA jack on the computer , then connect the other end of the cable to the VGA IN jack on the back of your T V .
Using your T V 11 number , channel label (if preset), V- chip rating , signal ty pe, sleep timer , p icture si ze , audi o information (stereo or SAP), and resolution. Press DIS PL AY again to clear the display , or wait a few seconds and the TV returns to normal operation automatically .
12 Using your T V 6 Press or to selec t Auto Ch M emor y , then press or ENTER . The Auto Ch Mem or y me nu opens. 7 Press or to highlight Automat ic Se arch , then press or ENTER . The TV beg ins memorizing all of the channe ls available in your area.
Changing th e TV set tings 13 4 Press or to highlight Add/Delete , th en press or ENTER . The Add/Delete menu opens. 5 Press or to select the c hannel you want to delete, then pr ess o r to se lect Delete . 6 Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to sele ct ot her channels you want to delete.
14 Changin g the TV settings T o delete a channel label: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU . T h e initial on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to selec t Channel , then press or ENTER . 3 Press or to selec t Ch Lab el , then pr ess or ENTER . The Ch Labe l menu opens.
Changing th e TV set tings 15 Setti ng paren tal con tro ls (V-chip ) Y ou can set an age li mitation on your TV to restrict children from viewing or he aring violent s cenes or p ictures that you ch oose to ex clude. T he restriction applies t o “T V Rating ” and “Movie Rating , ” if this data is transm itted.

Changing th e TV set tings 17 5 Press or to selec t Analog Caption or Digi tal Captio n . • Analog Caption op tions include C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 , T1 , T2 , T3 , and T4 . • Digital Caption options includ e CS1 , CS2 , CS3 , CS4 , CS5 , and CS6 . 6 Press or to select the c losed capt ion mode you want for both ana log an d digi tal capt ions.

20 Changin g the TV settings • Full pic ture size (for 16:9 source programs)—Disp lays the pictur e at the max imum siz e. 5 After cho osi ng th e pic t ure size you want, press EXIT to retu rn to normal viewing . Notes: Selectable picture sizes may vary , depending on the input sour ce or bro adcast s ignal .
Changing th e TV set tings 21 T o set the DNR: 1 Press SETUP/T V MENU . The initial on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to selec t Pict ure , then pr ess or ENTER . The Pic ture menu opens. 3 Press or to selec t DNR , th en press or to sele c t On or Off .

Using th e DVD playe r 23 T o set the auto shut off: 1 Press SETUP/T V MENU . The initial on-screen menu opens. 2 Pres s or to s el e c t Se tup , then pr ess or ENTER . The Setup menu o pens. 3 Press or to selec t Auto S hut O ff , then press or to selec t On (or Of f if you want to turn it off ).
24 Using th e DVD playe r Playing D VDs To p l a y a D V D : 1 Press TV /DV D t o chang e to DVD m ode (eac h time you tu rn the T V on, it star ts in the T V mode) . The DVD s tar tup screen ap pears. 2 If you are using an amplifier , turn it on. 3 Place the dis c in the disc slot with the l abel side f acing for ward.
Using th e DVD playe r 25 T o replay marked sc enes: 1 Press MARKER d uring playback or s top mode. The Marker dia log box opens. 2 Press or to selec t Mark er 1 -3 , then pr ess ENTER . Playba ck star ts from the marked scene. T o c ancel the mark: 1 Press MARKER d uring playback or s top mode.
26 Using th e DVD playe r Sele ct ing th e title Some DVDs are recorded with two or m ore tit les. If a title menu i s recorded on the disc, you can selec t th e title you want. T o selec t a title: 1 Press DVD TITLE d uring pl ayba ck. The Tit l e menu ope ns.
Using th e DVD playe r 27 Setti ng the on-scr een displ ay The on-screen disp lay can b e turned on or off when you p ress any buttons. T o set the on- screen display : 1 Press SETUP/T V MENU in stop mode or with no disc i nser ted. The DVD menu opens.
28 Using th e DVD playe r T o set the digital sound output: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no dis c inser ted. The DVD menu opens. 2 Pres s o r to s el e c t t he Audio icon , then press or or ENTER . The Audi o menu opens. 3 Press or to highlight Digital Out , then press or ENTER .
Using th e DVD playe r 29 4 Enter your password using the numb er buttons ( 0-9 ), then press ENTER . The Ent er New Passw or d scr een o pens . If yo u ent er a wrong number , press EXIT and try again. 5 Enter your new password using the nu mber buttons ( 0-9 ), then press ENTER .
30 Using th e DVD playe r When you pr ess PL AY after disp laying the file browser , playba ck begins automatically starting from the first file. If there is no file in the r oot dir ectory , play back doe s not begi n automa tically . 3 Press ENTER .
Appe ndi x 31 5 T o zoom in on an image, pr ess ZOOM . 6 Press ST OP to end playback. If you want to view another pic ture, repeat Steps 2 and 3. T o display selected file types: 1 W ith the JPEG browser open, press or to highlight Se lect Files in the ri ght col umn, the n press ENTER .
32 Maintaining Y our player requ ires discs and rec ordings to meet certain technical standar ds in order t o achieve optimal playback qu ality . Pre-r ecor ded DVDs are automatically set to these standards.
