7 Introduction Congratulations on purchasing this Wireless Broadband R outer. This Wireless Broadband Router is a cost-e ffectiv e IP Sharing Router that enables multiple users to share the Internet through an ADSL or cable modem.
8 Note The WAN “idle timeout” auto-disconn ect function may not w ork due to abnormal activities of some network ap plica tion software, computer v irus or hacker attac ks from the Internet . For example, some so ftw are sends network packets to the Internet in the background, ev en when you are not using the Internet.
9 Front Panel On the router’s fron t panel there are LED lights that infor m you of the router’s current sta tus. Below is an ex planation of each LED and its description.
10 Setup Diagram Figure 1.2 below sh ows a typical setup for a Local Area Network (LAN) . Figure 1.2 Getting started This is a step-by-step in struction on how to start u sing the router and get connected to the Interne t. 1) Setup your network as shown in the se tup diagram above (fig 1.

Quick Setup Wizard (Chapter 1) Select your Internet con nection ty pe an d then input the co nfigurations needed to connect to y our Internet Service Provider (ISP).
17 7) Click on Quick Setup Wizard (see chapter 1) to start configuring settings required by your ISP so that y ou can start acce ssing the Internet. The other section s (General Setup, Sta tus Information and Tools) do not need to b e configured unless y ou wish to implement/monitor more adv ance features/informatio n.
18 Parameter Description Set Time Zone Select the time zon e of the country you are currently in. The router will set its time based on your sele ction. Time Server Address You can manually assign time server address if the default time server dose not work .

20 1.1 Cable Modem Choose Cable Modem if your ISP will aut omatically give you an IP address. Some ISP’s may also require that you f ill in additional info rmation such a s Host Name and MAC address (see scr een below).

23 Connection Type If you select “Conti nuous”, the router will always connect to the ISP. If th e WAN line breaks down and links again, the router w ill auto-reconnect to the IS P.
24 Parameter Description Obtain an IP add ress The ISP require s you to obtain an IP address by DHCP automatically before connecting to the P PTP server. Use the follow ing The ISP give y ou a static IP to b e used to conne ct IP address to the PPTP server.

60 2.6.2 Virtual Server You can have differ ent services (e .g. email, FTP, Web etc.) going to di fferent service servers/clients in your LAN . The Virtual Server allows y ou to re-direct a particu lar service port number (from the Internet/WAN Port) to a par ticular LAN IP addre ss and its service port number.
