It is easy to set up and has many features that will help you get the most out of your ADSL line.

Setup: Ov er view P age 8 Over vie w This chapter explains ho w to connect the Div a 2430 to a single computer or to a local area network. Connecting to Both P or ts Once you connect a computer to either the USB or Ethernet port, you can connect a second computer to the unused port without reconfiguring the de vice.

Setup: Ethernet Setup P age 15 Ethernet Setup The procedure in the follo wing section describes ho w to set up the Di v a 2430 using any system equipped with an Ethernet card and capable of communicating via the TCP/IP protocol. This includes W indows, Macintosh, and Linux.

T o help you successfully integrate the Di va 2430 into your setup, this section provides important points to keep in mind when setting up on a LAN.

Setup: TCP/IP Setup P age 26 TCP/IP Setup T o be able to communicate with the Div a 2430 via Ethernet, your computer must hav e TCP/IP installed and configured to act as a DHCP client. This allo ws your computer to acquire its IP address and other settings from your provider ’ s DHCP server dynamically .
Setup: TCP/IP Setup P age 27 Windows 95/98 The follo wing procedure describes how to v erify and install TCP/IP on Windo ws 95 or W indows 98. If TCP/IP is already installed on your system, go to Conf iguring TCP/IP (belo w).

If TCP/IP is already installed on your system, see Configuring TCP/IP (belo w). Advanced T opics: Security P age 49 A utomatic Log Out The Di v a 2430 applies an automatic time-out to configuration sessions. When a configuration session is idle for more than the time-out v alue, the Div a 2430 automatically logs the user out.
Advanced T opics: Security P age 50 System passw ord The Di v a 2430 provides a system password that restricts access to the web-based configuration and command line interf aces. This ensures that conf iguration changes can only be made by authorized personnel.
Advanced T opics: Security P age 51 Disable Inbound Server Requests This option drops all incoming server requests from the ADSL line addressed to a well-known port (less than 1024). This ef fectiv ely blocks requests for the most common servers (such as HTTP , FTP , T elnet, etc.
