4 Safety Please read this instruction book before using the appliance and retain for future refer ence. These warnings ar e provided in the interests of your safe- ty , ensure you understand them fully before using the appliance. Intended use • The appliance is intended for use in the home.
5 Daily Operation • Containers with flammable gases or liquids can leak at low temperatures. There is a risk of an explosion! Do not store any containers with flamma- ble materials such as, spray cans, fire extinguisher refill cartridges etc in the refriger ator/freezer .
6 Remove transport packaging The appliance and the interior fittings are protected for tr ansport. • Remove all adhesive tape and packing pieces fr om the interior of the appliance. D isposal of old Appliances For environmental reasons, refriger ation appliances must be disposed of properly .
7 Starting up and temper ature r egulation Wash the inside of the appliance with lukewarm water with a little bicar- bonate of soda added (5ml to 0,5 litre of water). Do not use soap or deter- gent as the smell may linger . Dry the appliance thoroughly .
8 Low Room Temper ature Switch When the r oom temperature is + 16° C or less, the Low Room Temper ature Switch, located next to the thermostat control knob , must be switched on to maintain the correct temperatur es inside the fridge and freezer compart- ments.
9 Fr esh food refriger ation To obtain the best performance: • do not store warm food or evaporating liquid in the refrigeator • do cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong flavour . • P osition food so that air can circuiate freely round it.
10 Fr eezing and storing frozen food Y ou can use your fr eezer for freezing fresh food your self. Important! • The temperatur e in the fr eezer compartment must be –18 °C or colder before freezing food. • Please observe the freezing capacity given on the rating plate.
11 Ice pa ck There is an ice pack in one drawer of the freezer . In the event of a power failure or malfunction, the ice pack will lengthen the amount of time it takes for the frozen food to become too warm by several hours.
12 Defr osting R ef ri ge r a t or Frost is automatically removed from the evaporator of the r efrigerator com- partment every time the motor compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost water drains out through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, located over the motor compressor , where it evapo- rates.
13 Switching off the appliance To switch off the appliance, turn the temperatur e regulator to position "0" or disconnect fr om the electricity supply . If the appliance is not going to be used for an extended period: 1. Remove all r efrigerated and deep-fr ozen packages as well as ice trays.
