5 Before Use Remove all packaging and securing tapes. Wash inside the appliance with luk ewar m wat er and bicarbonate of soda (5ml to 0.5 litre of wat er). Do not use soap or detergent as the smell may linger . Dr y thoroughly . Star ting the Appliance Inser t the plug into the wall sock et.
6 F reezing Fr esh Food It is impor tant that fresh food placed in the freezer is froz en quickly and that the food already in the freezer is heat ed as little as possible. If more than 3-4kg of f ood is to be frozen: 1 . T urn the ther mostat control knob to the highest setting ("Fast freez e").
7 Baskets The baskets are designed for the st orage of food which has already been frozen. The handles can be placed in two positions, as shown. The baskets can either be placed inside the freez er or hung on the edge of the casing. Spare baskets can be obtained from y our local Ser vice Force Centre.
8 Normal Operating Sounds Y ou may hear faint gurgling or bubbling sounds when the refrigerant is pumped through the coils or tubing. When the compressor is on, the refrigerant is being pumped round and you will hear a whirring sound or pulsating noise from the compressor .
9 Defrosting The fr eezer compartment will become progr essively cov ered with fr ost. This should be r emov ed with the special plastic scraper pr ovided, (Models E C2609S & E C3309S only), whenev er the thickness of frost e xceeds ¼ ". During this operation it is not necessar y to switch off the power supply or to remove the foodstuffs.
10 Before any maint enance or cleaning is carried out you must DISCONNE CT the appliance from the electricity supply Internal Cleaning Clean the inside and accessories with warm water and bicarbonate of soda (5ml to 0.5 litre of water). Rinse and dr y thoroughly .

16 Positioning Place the freezer horizontally on a firm sur face, resting on all four wheels. Use a wooden block or similar object to compensate f or any bumps/holes in the floor's sur face.
