8 9 Read these instructions and this manual in its entirety before you attempt to assemble or operate your new snow thrower .Y our new snow thrower has been assembled at the factory with the exception of those par ts left unassembled for shipping pur poses.
8 9 CONSUMER ASSEMBL Y / PRE-OPERA TION INST ALL A UGER CONTROL R OD (See Figs. 5 and 6) The auger control rod has the shor t loop on the end of the spring as shown. 1. Slide rubber slee ve up rod and hook end of spr ing into control ar m with loop opening up as shown.

12 13 T O CONTROL SNO W DISCHARGE (See Fig. 16) W ARNING : S now throwers have ex- posed r otating parts, which can cause severe injur y fr om contact, or from ma- terial thro wn from the discharge chute. Keep the area of operation clear of all persons, small c hildren and pets at all times including startup.

14 15 SCRAPER B AR The scraper bar is not adjustable, but is rev ersible. After considerab le use it ma y become wor n. When it has wor n almost to the edge of the housing, it can be rev ersed, providing additional service bef ore requiring replacement.
16 17 7. When the engine star ts, release the star ter button and slowly mo v e the choke control to the OFF position. 8. Disconnect the power cord from the receptacle rst, then from the engine. Allow the engine to warm up for a fe w minutes. Engine will not dev elop full power until it has reached nor mal operating temperature.
16 17 CONSUMER MAINTENANCE LUBRICA TION CHART GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warra nty on this snow thrower does not cover items that hav e been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. T o receive full value from the warranty , operator must maintain snow thrower as instructed in this manual.
18 19 T O CHANGE ENGINE OIL Deter mine temperature range anticipated before ne xt oil change. All oil must meet API ser vice classication SF- SJ . • Be sure snow thrower is on le vel surf ace. • Oil will drain more freely when warm. • Catch oil in a suitable container .
18 19 CONSUMER SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS W ARNING: T o a v oid serious injury , before performing any ser vice or ad- justments: 1. Be sure thr ottle is in ST OP posi- tion. 2. Remove safety ignition ke y . 3. Make sure the augers and all moving parts have completely stopped.
20 21 1. REMO VE GASOLINE FROM FUEL T ANK - Drain gaso- line from fuel tank into a suitable container , outdoors, aw ay from re or ame . Wipe up an y spilled gasoline.
