1 I MPORT ANT S AFETY I NSTRUCTIONS SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS This manual contains importa nt instructions that should be followed during ins tallation and ope ration of the 2U Hardwire POD™. This product is designed for commercial / industrial use only, with Liebert UPS systems.
2 ! CAUTION This device receives power fr om multiple sources. Before servicing this device, remove all connections and cut power from the utility branch input. Bef ore servicing the UPS, follow “Mainte nance of UPS” instructions in the u ser manual for your UP S.

4 I NTRODUCTION AND S YSTEM D ESCRIPTION Congratulations on your choice of the Liebert 2U Hardwire POD™ . The 2U Hardwire POD provides maintenance bypass capab ility as well as power output distribution . The Liebert 2U Hardwire POD can be used on UPS in the rack mount or tower configuration.
5 R ACK M OUNT I NST ALLATION 1. Rack mount installation of the 2U POD is poss ible with the use of the rack mounting brackets (shipped with the POD). See Figure 3 .
6 I NST ALLATION ON GXT 2U UPS 1. Unpack the 2U POD careful ly, no ting the packing method. Retain the box and packing mat erial for possible future sh ipments. 2. Visually inspect the 2U POD for freight damage. Report damag e to the carrier and your local de aler or Liebert representative.
7 H ARDWIRE C ONNECTIONS Electrical Inst allati on Considerations The front and bottom of the POD provide alternate conduit entry points for both the UTILITY and LOAD connections. Figure 5 Conduit entry ! CAUTION This UPS must be installed by compet ent electrical personnel and wired in accordance with local/national electrical codes.
8 Wiring access doors on each end of the POD allow access to the wiring compartments by opening the top an d rear of the POD. Each access door is retained using two Phillips head screws.
9 Wiring Instructions 1. Remove the wiring access doors by removing the two Phillips head screws that secure them. 2. Determine which of the two avail able conduit entry points are to be used. Knock out the conduit entr y hole for the loca tion and size of conduit to be used.
10 A PPLY F EED P OWER 1. Next attach the POD to the secu ring brackets (see Fig ure 7). The POD can be installed to face one of three different directions utiliz- ing the same mounting procedures . Select the direction of mount- ing to accommodate the co nduit entry connections.
11 S TA RT E QUIPMENT 1. Turn on all loads hardwired to the output of the POD. The 2U POD now powers your eq uipm ent in the UTILITY mode. 2. Turn ON the loads and ensure al l are up and operating properly. 3. Start the UPS according to its specific user manual.
12 I NDICATOR L AMPS Utility This amber lamp i s illuminated when utility power is present. It sig- nals that you may tr ansfer the lo ads to maintenance bypass (UTILITY mode) operation via the rotary switch.
13 O PERATION T ransfer to Maintenance Bypass To transfer to maintenance bypass (UTILITY) from UPS, follow the following s teps: 1. Ensure the Utility lamp (amber la mp) is illuminated. If the lamp is not illumina ted, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
14 T ROUBLESHOOTING Problem Cause Solution UTILITY lamp (amber) not illuminated. UTILITY not present. Call qualified service personnel to restore power . Utility Branch Circuit Breaker may be open. V erify that the branch circuit breaker is closed. 2U Hardwire POD input power not connected to UTILITY .
15 S PECIFICATIONS This POD is intended for use with a UPS meeting all of the following requirements: • UPS input cord is compatible with the rating and ty pe of receptacle on the POD labeled “CONNECT UPS LINE CORD HERE.” • UPS output receptacle is compat ible with the POD input power con- nector labeled “UPS.
