2 Thank you for purchasing this Em er so n portable audio system. This uniquely designed product has a built-in CD player with programmable memory and repeat playback. It also features a digital tuning AM/FM stereo radio and a stereo cassette player/recorder that will allow you to make direct recordings from either the radio or the CD player.
3 PREP ARA TION FOR USE Unpacking and Setup • Carefully remove the unit from the display carton and remove all packing material from the unit itself. • Remove any descriptive labels that may be found on either the front or top cabinet of the unit.
Battery Operation The battery compartment is located on the rear of the unit. • Remove the battery compartment door by pressing down on the two arrow marks and sliding the door in the direction of the arrows. • Insert eight (8) ‘C’ size batteries into the battery compartment as shown below.

6 SETTING THE CLOCK With the power off, press and release the PROGRAM/ MEMORY/CLOCK SET button; “24H” or “12H” will blink in the display. 1 Press the CD Skip/Search ( ) ❶ or ( ) ❷ button to set the current minute.
7 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Set the VOLUME control ❶ to a low setting. Press the POWER button ❷ to turn the unit on. 1 2 1 Press the Tuning/CD Skip/Search ❶ or ❷ button to select a station (see Tuning note below). NOTE: If the FM band is selected and you have tuned to an FM Stereo station, the FM Stereo indicator will light in the display.
8 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) Set the VOLUME control ❶ to a low setting. Press the POWER button ❷ to turn the unit on. 1 2 1 Press the PROGRAM/MEMORY/ CLOCK SET button ❶ . Within 9 seconds, press the MODE/ MEMORY UP button ❷ until the desired memory number appears on the display.
9 Set the VOLUME control ❶ to a low setting. Press the POWER button ❷ to turn the unit on. 1 2 1 The CD player will read the table of contents on the disc and the total number of tracks on the disc will appear in the display. 4 Press the CD Door OPEN/CLOSE area to open the CD compartment door.
10 After you insert the disc into the CD player and the total number of tracks appear on the display, you may press eithe r the C D Skip/Search ( ) ❶ or () ❷ button to select a specific track for playback. 1 2 1 When the desired track number appears in the display, press the CD PLAY/PAUSE ( ¨ ) button.
11 To repeat a single track, press the MODE/MEMORY UP button ❶ once; the Repeat indicator will blink in the display. Press the CD Skip/Search ( ) ❷ or ( ) button ❸ to select the specific track that you wish to repeat. When the desired track number appears in the display, press the CD PLAY/PAUSE ( ¨ ) button ❹ to begin playback.
12 Press the CD Skip/Search ( ) ❶ or ( ) button ❷ to select the first track that you wish to program. When the desired track number appears in the display, press the PROGRAM/MEMORY/CLOCK SET button ❸ again. 1 3 2 4 Press either the CD Skip/Search () ❶ or ( ) button ❷ to select the next track you wish to program.
13 Press the POWER button ❶ to turn the unit on. Set the VOLUME control ❷ to a low setting. 1 2 1 Insert a pre-recorded cassette into the slots in the Cassette Door with the open end facing up and the full reel on the right side. Close the cassette door.
14 Open the Cassette Door and insert a good quality blank cassette tape into the slots on the door, with the open end facing up and the full reel on the right-hand side. Close the cassette door. SAFEGUARD AGAINST ACCIDENT AL ERASURE When a new recording is made, any program material previously recorded is automatically erased and only the new recording remains. To safeguard valuable recordings from being erased accidentally, the cassette and the deck are equipped with a special device.
Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the compact disc carefully. Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the co mpa ct disc label.
