4 P R E P A R A T I O N F O R U S E Unpacking And Set Up • Carefully remove the main unit, speakers, and remote control from the carton, and remove all packing materials from the components. • Remove any descriptive labels or stickers from the front panel of the main unit.
5 Positioning The Main Unit And Speakers The main unit and the speakers are designed to be used on a shelf, desk, table or stand. The main unit is shipped with two plastic legs installed for added stability when the system is used on a flat surface.
6 Speaker Connections Connect the speakers to the Red (+) and Black ( –) terminals on right side panel of the unit as shown below. Press the Red (+) or Black ( –) terminal tab, insert wire, release tab to hold wire in place. The speakers may be placed close to the main unit or as far apart as the cables will allow.
7 Connecting To External Audio Sources This system is equipped with Auxiliary Input ( AUX IN ) and Line Output ( LINE OUT ) jacks. The Auxiliary Input Jacks allow you to listen to the sound from an external audio source through the speakers of this system.

9 AC Plug AC Outlet Power Source This system is designed to operate on 120V AC 60Hz power supply onl y . Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system and such damage is not covered by your warranty. Make sure that you connect this system to an AC outlet that is always “ live ” .

1 3 O P E R A T I N G I N S T RUC T I O N S Turning The System ‘ On’ Connect the unit into the 120V 60Hz AC outlet. At the front of the unit, the light within the POWER/S TANDBY button will light ‘ Red ’ to indicate that the unit is in standby (Standby means plugged-in but not switched on).
1 4 General Controls Most of the main functions of this system can be operated by the controls on the front panel of the main unit, or by the buttons on the remote control handset. If a specific function can only be operated by the remote handset, or by the front panel controls, this will be clearly indicated in the instructions.
1 5 MUTE Button (On Remote Control Only) Press the MUTE button on the remotrol control to shut off the speakers temporaril y, for example, to answer the telephone. The sound stops and the “ MUTE ” indicator appears in the display. Press the MUTE button again to cancel the mute function and restore the sound.
1 6 S e t t i n g Th e C l o c k Note : The clock can be set at AUX mode, when power is ‘ Off ’ , or at CD , TUNER modes by pressing the MODE/REMAIN button to display the Time mode. 1.) Depress and hold the MEMORY button on the front panel or remote control .
1 7 Listening To The Radio 1.) Press the POWER/S TANDBY button on the main unit or the remote control. The main display turns ‘ On ’. 2.) If necessary, press the TUNER button on the front panel of main unit or the CD/TUNER button on remote control to select the Tuner function.
1 8 Hints For Better Reception FM : The FM lead wire antenna on the back panel should be extended to its full length. You may also have to vary the direction of this antenna until you find the position that provides the best reception. AM : The AM bar antenna is inside the cabinet of the main unit.
1 9 Pre-setting Stations In The Tuner Memory This system includes a 20 station preset memor y . You can store up to 10 FM stations and 10 AM stations in the tuner memory for immediate recall. The procedure for storing stations in memory is as follows: 1.
2 0 Recalling Preset Stations 1.) Turn the unit ‘ On ’ , press the STOP/BAND button to select the desired band. 2.) Press the REPE AT/M-UP button on the front panel or the remote control repeatedly to scroll through the preset memories until the display shows the desired station.
2 1 Playing Compact Discs Important: This CD player can play normal CDs plus CD Recordable (CD-R) and CD ReWritable (CD-RW) discs. However the playability of CD-R/RW discs may be affected by the type of software that was used in ‘ ripping ’ the tracks from the original discs and ‘ burning ’ the tracks onto the blank media.
2 2 Normal Playback 1.) Press the POWER/S TANDBY button to turn the system ‘ On ’. 2.) Press the CD button on front panel or CD/TUNER button on remote control to select CD function. 3.) Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on front panel to open the CD door.
2 3 9.) To stop playback at any time, press the STOP/BAND button. 10.) If you are finished listening, press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD door, remove your disc from the player, re-close the door and press the POWER/S TANDBY button to return the system to the Standby (Off) mode.
2 4 Repeat Playback Y ou can program the player to continuously repeat a single track or the entire disc. The Repeat function can be activated while a disc is playing or while the disc is stopped. One Track Repeat Press the or button until the desired track number appears in the display, then press the REPE AT/M-UP button once .
2 5 Random Playback This feature allows you to play all the tracks on a disc in random order. Load the disc as usual and wait until the display shows the total playing time and number of tracks. Press the RANDOM button. The RANDOM indicator appears in the display.
2 6 Programmed Playback You can program up to 20 tracks on a disc to playback in any desired orde r . You may also program a specific track to play several times within the same program.
2 7 7.) To begin programmed playback press the PL A Y/ PA USE button. The display will show the first programmed track and playback will begin on that track. The MEMORY Indicator stops flashing and remains in the displa y. After the last programmed track has played the player stops but the programmed tracks remain in the memory.
2 8 Timer Function This system includes a programmable Timer function that will turn the system ‘ On ’ , play for one hou r, and then shut the system ‘ Off ’ automaticall y . You can use the timer to wake you up to the Radio or to your favorite CD.
2 9 6.) At the selected ‘ On ’ time the system will turn ‘ On ’ automatically to the last function selected, either Tuner or CD. The TIMER indicator flashes. It will play for one hour and then shut ‘ Off ’ automaticall y. Note: If the system turns on to CD function it will only play until the end of the disc and then stop.
3 0 Sleep Timer This system includes a programmable Sleep Timer that allows you to fall asleep to between 90 and 10 minutes of music and then shuts the power ‘ Off ’ automaticall y. To Operate The Sleep Timer: 1.) Turn the system ‘ On ’ and operate either the Tuner or CD function as usual.
3 1 MODE/REMAIN Button Normally the display shows the correct time in the Aux mode, Standby (Power Off) mode, the radio frequency in the Tuner mode, and the CD track and time information in the CD mode.

3 3 Resetting The System Computer This system is equipped with a special circuit designed to protect the internal computer from permanent damage due to unexpected power surges.
