Chapter 2 Hardware Overview The fo llowing figure s show the ke y comp onents on the ENH200. 2.1 Bott om Vi e w The bott om pa nel of the ENH200 contain s two RJ ‐ 45 ports, a PoE int erface, and a Rese t butt on.
Chapter 3 Installation This chapter de scribes how to ins tall the ENH200. It also de scri be s the ENH200 LEDs.
6. Turn over the ENH200. Then insert the mast strap through the middle hole of the ENH200. Use a screwdriver to unlock the pole ‐ mounting ring putting it through the ENH200.
3.2 Underst anding the ENH200 LEDs The rea r of the ENH200 has tw o groups of LEDs. One gr oup, labeled INDICA T ORS , shows the status of the device.
Chapter 4 Configuring Yo ur Computer for TCP/IP To configure the ENH200, use a comput er that is config ured fo r TC P /I P .
4.1 Configuring Microsoft Wi n d o w s 7 Use the follo wing procedur e to conf igure a computer running Micr osoft W indows 7. 1. In the Start menu search box, type: ncpa.
4. In the properties dialog box, click Obtain an IP address automatically to configure your computer for DHCP.
5. Click the OK button to save your changes and close the dialog box. 6. Click the OK button again to save your changes.
6. In the Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties dialog box, click Obtain an IP address automatically to configure your computer for DHCP. 7. Click the OK button to save your changes and close the dialog box.
4.3 Configuring Microsoft Wi n d o w s XP Use the follo wing procedur e to conf igure a computer running Micr osoft W indows XP with the de fault int erface.
5. In the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, verify that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is checked. Then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
4. In the Local Area Connection Status dialog box, click the Properties button. The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears.

Chapter 6 Status The Status section on the navigation drop ‐ down menu contains the following options: - Main - Wireless Client List - System Log - Connection Status The following sections describe the se options.
6.2 Main Clicking the Main link under the Status drop-down menu or clicking Home at the top-right of the Web Configurator shows status in formation about the curr ent operating mode.
6.3 Wireless Client List Clicking the Wireless Client List link under the Status drop-down menu displays the list of clients associated to the ENH200, along with t he MAC addresses and signal strength for each client. Clicking the Refresh button updates (refreshes) the client list.
6.4 System Log The ENH200 automatically logs (records) events of possible interest in its internal memory. To view the logged information, click the System Log link under the Status drop-down menu. If there is not enough internal memory to log all ev ents, older events are de leted from the log.
6.5 Connection S tatus Clicking the Connection Status link under the Status drop-down menu displays the current status of the network. The information s hown includes network type, SSID, BSSID, connection status, wireless mode, current channel, security, data rate, noise level, and signal strength.
6.6 DHCP Client T able Clicking the DHCP Client List link under the Status drop-down menu displays the clients that are associated to the ENH200 through DHCP . The MAC addresses and signal strength for each client are also shown. Clicking the Refresh button updates (refreshes) the client list.
Chapter 7 System This chapter de scribes how to change the ENH2 00 opera ting modes. 7.1 Changing Operating Modes The ENH200 supports four operating modes: - Access Point - Client Bridge - WDS Bridge - Client Router T o select an operating mode, click System Properties under Sy stem Section .
Clicking Accept does not apply the changes. T o apply them, use S tatus > Save/Load (see section 4.1)..
Chapter 8 Wireless Configuration This chapter describes the ENH200’s wireless se ttings. Please read the information in this chapter carefully . If you configure a setting impr operly , it can impact performance and af fect the network adversely . Before you continue, be sure you selected the appropriate operating mode (see Chapter 7).
Wireless Mode Wireless mode supports 802.1 1b/g/n mixed modes. Channel HT Mode The default channel bandwidth is 40 MHz. The larger the channel, the better the tr ansmission quality and speed. Extension Channel Select upper or lower channel. Y our selection may affect the Auto channel function.
Profile Isolation Restricted Client to communicate with dif ferent VID by Selecting the radio button. Accept / Cancel Click Accept to confirm the changes or Cancel to cancel and return previous settings. Clicking Accept does not apply the changes. T o apply them, use S tatus > Save/Load (see section 4.
SSID S pecify the SSID for the current profile. VLAN ID S pecify the VLAN t ag for the current profile. Suppressed SSID Check this option to hide the SSID from clients. If checked, the SSID will not appear in the site survey . St ation Sep aration Click the appropriate radio button to allow or prevent communication between client devices.
8.1.2 Client Bridge Mode Client Bridge Mode lets you connect two LAN segm ent s via a wireless link as though they are on the same physical network. Since the com puters are on the same subnet, broadcasts will reach all machines.
Wireless Mode Wireless mode supports 802.1 1b/g/n mixed modes. SSID S pecify the SSID if known. This fi eld is completed automatically if you select an Access Point in the Site Survey . Site Survey Scans nearby locations for Access Point s. Y ou can select a discovered Access Point to est ablish a connection.
Profile If you used the Site Survey , t he W eb Configurator shows nearby Access Points. T o connect to an Access Point, click the Access Point’s BSSID.
8.1.3 WDS Bridge Mode Unlike traditional bridging. WDS Bridge Mode allo ws you to create large wireless networks by linking several wireless access points with WDS links. WDS is normally used in large, open areas, where pulling wires is cost prohibiti ve, restricted or physically impossible.

MAC Address Enter the MAC address of the Acce ss Point to which you want to extend wireless connectivity . Mode Select Disable or Enable to disable or enable WDS. Accept / Cancel Click Accept to confirm the changes or Cancel to cancel and return previous settings.
8.1.4 Client Router Mode In Client Router Mode, you can access the Inter net wirelessly with the support of a WISP . In AP Router Mode, the E NH200 can access the Internet via a cable or DSL modem.

8.2 Wireless Security Settings The Wireless Security Settings section lets y ou configure the EOH200’s security modes: WEP , WP A-PSK, WP A2-PSK, WP A-PSK Mixed, WP A, WP A2, and WP A Mixed. We strongly recommend you use WP A2-PSK. 8.2.1 WEP Security Mode Select WEP from the drop-down list to begin the configuration.
802.1 1n does not allow WEP/WP A-PSK/WP A- PSK TKIP security mode. The connection mode will drop from 802.1 1n to 802.1 1g. 8.2.2 WP A-PSK Security Mode Select WP A-PSK from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type.
8.2.3 WP A2-PSK Security Mode Select WP A2-PSK from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type. • Both = uses TKIP and AES. • TKIP = automatic encryption with WP A-PSK; requires passphrase.
8.2.4 WP A-PSK Mixed Security Mode Select WP A-PSK Mixed from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type. • Both = uses TKIP and AES. • TKIP = automatic encryption with WP A-PSK; requires passphrase.
8.2.5 WP A Security Mode Select WP A from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type. • Both = uses TKIP and AES. • TKIP = automatic encryption with WP A-PSK. • AES = automatic encryption with WP A2-PSK.
8.2.6 WP A2 Security Mode Select WP A2 from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type. • Both = uses TKIP and AES. • TKIP = automatic encryption with WP A-PSK. • AES = automatic encryption with WP A2-PSK.
8.2.7 WP A Mixed Security Mode Select WP A Mixed from the drop-down list to begin the configuration. Encryption Select Both , TKIP , or AES as the encryption type. • Both = uses TKIP and AES. • TKIP = automatic encryption with WP A-PSK. • AES = automatic encryption with WP A2-PSK.
8.4 Wireless Advanced Settings Dat a Rate Select a data rate from the drop- down list. The data rate af fects throughput. If you select a low data rate value, for example, the throughput is reduced but the tr ansmission distance increases. T ransmit Pow er Lets you increase or decrease tr ansmit power .

8.5 Wireless MAC Filter Wireless MAC Filters are used to allow or deny network access to wireless clients according to their MAC addresses. You can manually add a MAC address to restri ct the permission to access ENH200. The default setting is Disable Wireless MAC Filters.
8.6 WDS Link Settings Using WDS Link Settings, you can create a wir eless backbone link between multiple access points that are p art of the same wireless net work. This allows a wireless network to be expanded using multiple Access Point s without the need for a wired backbone to link them, as is traditionally required.
Chapter 9 LAN Setup This chapter describes the ENH200 Local Area Network (LAN) settings. 9.1 IP Settings This section is only available for Non-Router Mode .
9.2 S panning T ree Settings Sp anning T ree St atus Enable or disable the E NH200 S p anning T ree function. Bridge Hello T ime S pecify Bridge Hello T ime, in seconds.
Chapter 10 Router Settings This section is only available for AP Router Mode and Client Router Mode . 10.1 W AN Settings This chapter describes the ENH200 W AN settings . There are four types of W AN connections: - S t atic IP - DHCP - PPPoE - PPTP Please contact your ISP to find out which settings you should choose.
Internet Connection Ty p e Select S t atic IP to begin configuration of the S tatic IP connection. Account Name Enter the account name provided by your ISP . Domain Name Enter the domain name provided by your ISP . MTU S pecify the Maximum T ransmit Unit size.
10.1.2 DHCP (Dynamic IP) Select DHCP as your WAN connection type to obt ain an IP address automatically . Y ou will need to enter account name as your hos tname and, optionally , DNS information. Internet Connection Ty p e Select DHCP to begin configuration of the DHCP connection.
Get Automatically From ISP Click this radio button to obtain the DNS automatically from the DHCP server . Use These DNS Servers Click the radio button to set up the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS servers manually .
10.1.3 PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) Select Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) if your ISP uses a PPPoE connection. Y our ISP will provide you with a username and p assw ord. This selection is typically used for DSL services.

10.1.4 PPTP (Point-to-Poi nt T unneling Protocol) Select PPTP as your W AN connection type if your ISP uses a Point-to-Point-T unneling Protocol (PPTP) connection. Y ou will need to provide the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway (optional), DNS (optional), server IP , username, and password provided by your ISP .
MTU S pecify the Maximum T ransmit Unit size. It is recommended you accept the default setting of Auto . Otherwise, packet s will be fragmented downstream if the MTU is set too high or too low , which impacts network performanc e. In extreme cases, an MTU setting that is too low can prev ent the ENH200 from establishing some connections.
10.2 LAN Settings (Router Mode) IP Address Enter the LAN port IP address. IP Subnet Mask Enter the LAN IP subnet mask. WINS Server IP Enter the WINS Server IP .
10.3 VPN Pass Through VPN Passthrough allows a secure virtual priv ate network (VPN) connection between two computers. Enabling the options on this page opens a VPN port and enables connections to pass through the ENH200 without interrupti on. PPTP Pass Through Check this option to enable PPTP p ass-through mode.
10.4 Port Forwarding Port forwarding can be used to open a port or range of ports to a dev ice on your network Using port forwarding, you can set up public se rvices on your network . When users from the Internet make certain request s on your netwo rk, the ENH200 can forward those requests to computers equipped to handle the requests.
Service Name Enter a name for the port forwarding rule. Protocol Select a protocol for t he application: Choices are Both , TCP , and UDP . St arting Port Enter a starting port number .
10.5 DMZ If you have a computer that cannot run Internet applications properly from behind the ENH200, you can allow the com puter to have unrestricted Inte rnet access. Enter the IP address of that computer as a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) hos t with unrestricted Internet access.
Chapter 11 Management Settings The Management section lets you configure administration, management VLAN, SNMP settings, backup/restore settings, firmware upgr ade, time settings, and log settings.

1 1.2 Management VLAN Click the Management VLAN link under the Management menu to assign a VLAN tag to the packets. A VLAN is a group of computers on a network whose softw are has been configured so that they behave as if they were on a s eparate Local Area Network (LAN).
1 1.3 SNMP Settings Click the SNMP Settings link under the Management menu to monitor network-att ached devices using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP allows messages (called “protocol data unit’ s) to be sent to vari ous p arts of a network.
1 1.4 Backup/Restore Settings Click the Backup/Restore Setting link under the Management menu to save the ENH200’s current settings in a file on your local disk or load settings onto the device from a local disk.
1 1.5 Firmware Upgrade Click the Firmware Upgrade link under the Management menu to upgrade the firmware of the device. To perform this procedure, dow nloaded the appropriate firmware from your vendor. The firmwar e upgrade pr ocedure can tak e fe w minutes.
1 1.6 Time Settings Click the Time Settings link under the Management menu to configure the ENH200 system time. You can enter the time ma nually or, to ensure accuracy, synchronize the ENH200 with Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. Manually Set Date and Ti me Manually specify the date and time.
1 1.7 Log Click the Log link under the Management menu to display a list of events that are triggered on the ENH200 Ethernet and wireless interfaces. Y ou can consult this log if an unknown error occurs on the system or when a report needs to be sent to the technical support department for debugging purposes.
1 1.8 Diagnostics Click the Diagnostics link under the Management menu to ascertain connection quality and trace the routing t able to the target. T arget IP Enter the IP address you would like to search. Ping Packet Size Enter the packet size of each ping.
Chapter 12 Network Configuration Examples This chapter provides step-by-step descriptions for using the ENH200’s operating modes. The Access Point Mode’ s default configuration allows the ENH200 to act as a central unit of a WLAN or as a root device of a wired env ironment.
Wireless Client S tep1 Select the wireless mode with which you want to associate. S tep2 Use site survey to scan nearby Access Point and either select the Access Point to which you want to connect, or enter the SSID manually . S tep3 Configure the VLAN ID in y our wireless device if available.
S tep5 Select the Access Point with which you want to associate. S tep6 Set up the authentication settings that match the Access Point’ s settings. S tep7 Click Apply to save all changes. The Client Bridge IP settings must match the Access Point’ s subnet.
12.3 WDS Bridge Mode Use this feature to link multiple A ccess Points in a network. All clients associated with any Access Points can communicate with each other in an ad-hoc manner . WDS Bridge S tep1 Log in to the Web Configurat or with the default IP address 192.
12.4 Client Router In Client Router Mode, the ENH200’ s internal DHCP server allows LANs to automatically generate an IP address to share the same Internet. Connect an Access Point/WISP wirelessly and connect to LANs using a wired connection. Refer to Chapter 13 to check the Access Point’s configuration.
Chapter 13 Building a Wireless Network With its ability to operate in various operating modes, your ENH200 is the ideal device around which you can build your WLAN. This appendix describes how to build a WLAN around your ENH200 using he device’s operating modes.
13.2 Access Point Mode with WDS Function The ENH200 Access Point Mode also support s WDS functionality . This operating mode allows wireless connections to the ENH200 usi ng WDS technology . In this mode, configure the MAC addresses in both Access Point s to enlarge the wireless area by enabling WDS Link settings.
13.3 Client Bridge Mode In Client Bridge Mode, the ENH200 behaves like a wireless client that connects to an Access Point wirelessly and allows users to surf the Internet whenever they want. In this mode, use the ENH200 Site Survey to scan for Access Points within range.
13.4 WDS Bridge Mode In WDS Bridge Mode, the ENH200 can wirelessly connect different LANs by configuring the MAC address and security settings of each ENH200 device. Use this mode when two wired LANs located a small distance apart want to co mmunicate with each other .
13.5 Client Router Mode In Client Router Mode, the E NH200’ s internal DHCP server allows a number of LANs to automatically generate IP addresses to share t he same Internet. In this mode, connect an AP/WISP wirelessly and connect to LANs via a wired connection.
