8 1.3. Introduc tion ENGENIUS GOLD is a palm size 11N WIRELESS ROUTER. It allows users to create a wireless network and share the Internet among multipl e users. The ENGENIUS GOLD can be connected to the Inter net through a DSL/Cable modem at an y avail able location.

10 1.5. Before y ou Begin This section will guide you through the install ation proc ess. Placement of the ENGENIUS G OLD is very important to avoid poor signal reception and performance. Avoid p lacing the d evice in enclosed spaces such as a clo set, cabinet or wardrob e.
11 2. Config ure PC/Laptop N etwork Interface 2.1. Windows XP/ Vista Click Start button and open Control Panel. Windows X P Windows Vista.

48 6. Internet The Internet section allows you to manually set the WAN type connection and its related settings. 6.1. Status This page shows th e c urrent status of the de vice’s WAN connection.

75 8.4. Denial of Servic e (DoS) Denial of Service (Deni al of Service) is a type o f Internet attack that sends a hig h amount of data to you wi th the i ntent to overload your Internet connection. Enable the DoS firewall feature to automaticall y detect and block th e se DoS attacks.

Network A ddress Transla tion (NAT) This page allo ws you to Enable / Disable th e Network Address Translation (NAT) feature. The NAT is required to share one Internet account with multiple LAN users.
80 9.2. Port Ma pping Port Mapping allo ws you to redirect a particular rang e of ports to a computer on your LAN network. This helps you host servers behind th e NAT and Firewall . In the example below, there is a Mail Server th at requires ports 22 to 23.

82 9.4. Port Trigg er If you use Internet applications wh ich use non-standard connections or port numbers, you may find that they do n ot function correctly because they are blocked b y the Wireless Router's firewall. Port Trigger will be required for these applicatio ns to work.
