You can connect it to one or tw o computer sour ces and up to three v ideo so urces and easily switch b etween the m. You ca n also include sound f or up to three of the sourc es.

10 Setting Up the Projector Positioning th e Projector Before con necting the pr ojector, y ou need to decide w here to plac e it. The loca tion you choose d epends on the si ze of t he room a nd what you are projecti ng. ■ Place the projector on a sturdy, level surface, approximately 2.

14 Setting Up the Projector Amplifying Computer Audi o Your lapt op probabl y has its own sound system; howe ver, it may not be adequate for your pres entation. If you nee d more volume or better sound quality, you can connect a s tereo, mini-jack audio cable (not inclu ded).
Setting Up the Projector 15 Connecting to Video Sources You ca n con nect a DVD pla yer, V CR, camc ord er, la ser di sc pla yer, digital came ra, or a ny other c ompa tible vi deo s ource to your projecto r. The projector supports HDTV, NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, and automatically de tects the vide o format.
16 Setting Up the Projector Connecting the RCA A/V Cable Before starting, make sure the projector and your DVD player or other vid eo sour ce are turn ed off . 1. Connect the yellow plug on one end of the A/V cable to the projecto r ’ s yello w Video jack.
Setting Up the Projector 17 Connecting an S-Video C able If your video source ha s an S-Video jack, you can use it to project a higher qu alit y vide o im age. Ho wever , you ’ ll need an S-Video cable, which may be incl uded with your video s ource, or can be purc hased separa tely .
18 Setting Up the Projector Connecting a Component Video Cable If your video sourc e has compo nent (blue, green , and red) connecto rs, you can use them to p roject a higher qual ity video image. How ever, you ’ ll need a VGA-to -component video cable, which is available from EPSON ; see page 8.
2 Using the Projector 19 Using the Projector O nce you ’ ve connected the proje ctor to your co mputer or other equipm ent (a s desc ribed in Chap ter 1 or Ap pendix A), y ou ’ re rea dy to turn on the proje ctor, adjust th e image, and give your pre sentatio n.
20 Using the Projector Turning On Your Equipment Make sure your p rojector and other equipment ar e set up and connected correc tly, as desc ribed in Chapter 1 or Appendix A. Then turn on your projector, as described below, fol lowed by any equipment you ’ ve connecte d to it.
Using the Projector 21 5. Press the red Power button on top of the proj ector. The power ligh t flashes gre en as the projec tor warm s up, and the projecti on lamp c omes o n in abou t 30 seco nds. The p ower l ight stays g reen, a nd you may see a blue sc reen wi th the No Signal message di splayed.
22 Using the Projector What To Do If You See a Blank Screen If you see a blank scree n or a b lue screen w ith the No Signal message after turning on yo ur computer or vid eo source, try the following: ■ Make sure the c ables are conne cted correc tly, as descr ibed on page 12 ( for lapt ops) or in App end ix A ( for ot her sys tems ).

24 Using the Projector Adjusting the Im age Once you see your image, you ’ ll need to make certain adjustments: ■ To focus or zoom your image, s ee below. ■ If the image is too high or too low, you can reposition it. See page 25. ■ If the image isn ’ t square, see page 26.

3 Using the Remote Control 31 Using the Remote Control T he remote co ntrol lets you access your projector ’ s feat ures from anywhere in the room — up to 30 feet away. You can use it to turn the projector on and off, zoom in on a portion of your image, and highlight your p resentation.
32 Using the Remote Control Turning On and Using the Remote Control Before using the remote c ontrol, you need to install i ts batt eries and turn it on as describ ed below. Installing Batteries Follow these steps to instal l or replac e the batter ies: 1.
Using the Remote Control 33 Using the Remote Contr ol When using th e remote control, s tand withi n 30 feet of the pro jector. Point the rem ote co ntrol eithe r at the front o r back of the projector or at the screen (the pr ojector ’ s front sensor can detect signals bounc ed off th e screen ).
34 Using the Remote Control Adjusting the Volume If you ’ ve connected an audio source to the projector , you can adjust the sound that ’ s output through the projector ’ s speaker s. ■ To increase the volume, pres s on the right sid e of the Volume button.
Using the Remote Control 35 Zooming Your Im age You can zoom in on a portion of the image usin g the E-Zoom bu t ton on the remote contr ol. 1. Press the E-Zoo m button. A crosshair indicating the center of the zoom-in area appears on the screen. 2. Use the button to move the cross hair where you w ant it.
36 Using the Remote Control Displaying Picture-in-Pict ure Video You can open a small v ideo window on your computer image, and view a video at the same time as your computer presentati on. If you ’ re using component vi deo, you can di splay a second video (f rom a compos ite or S-vi deo so urce) i n the window .
Using the Remote Control 37 Highlighting Your Presen tation You can highlight areas on the scr een using the numbered buttons on the remote contro l. You can use these “ special effect s ” features t o annotate your present ation slid es or call attention to yo ur most important points .
38 Using the Remote Control Spotlighting Your Image With the Spotlight too l, you can highlight part of the s creen. 1. To activate the spotlight tool , press button 2 on the re mote control. A square spo tlight app ears on the image. You can continue pressing button 3 to switch betw een three spotli gh t sizes.
Using the Remote Control 39 Using the Remote C ontrol as a Wireless Mouse When you use the remote contro l as a wireless mouse, you can control your compute r or clic k thro ugh slid eshow-s tyle presentati ons (such as PowerPo i nt) from up to 30 feet away.

5 Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 59 Maintaining and Transporting the Projector Y our projector needs little maintenance. All you need to do on a regular basis is keep the lens clean. Any di rt or smears on the lens may show up on your projec ted im age.
60 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector Cleaning the Lens Clean the le nses whenev er you notice dirt or dus t on the surfac e. ■ Use a canist er of comp ressed air to remove dust. ■ To remove dirt or smears on the le nses, use le ns-cle aning paper.
Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 61 Cleaning and Re placing the A ir Filter Clean the air fi lter on the botto m of the proje ctor after every 100 hours of use. If it is not cleaned periodically, it can become clogge d with dust, preventing proper ventilation.
62 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector 4. If you need to r eplace the filter , press the ar row tab and li ft up the filter to remove it. 5. To install a new filter, first insert the tabs, then press down until it clicks in p lace. Replacing the Lamp The projecti on lamp typically lasts fo r about 1500 hours of use.
Maintaining and Transporting the Projector 63 Follow these ste ps to replace the lamp: 1. Turn off the projec tor, wait for it to cool do wn (when th e light stops fl ashing ), then unplu g the power cord . 2. Allow the projector to c ool for at least half an hour (if it has bee n on).
64 Maintaining and Transporting the Pr ojector 5. Grasp the lamp as shown and pull i t straight out. 6. Ge ntl y inse rt th e ne w la mp. 7. Once the la mp is ful ly in serte d, tigh ten it s scr ews. 8. To replace the lamp cover, i nsert th e tabs and then snap the c over into place.

If you need to transpor t it, fol l ow these p acking guid e lines to prevent damage to the projec tor: ■ When shi pping the pro jector for repairs, use the original packaging material if possible.
