12 User’s Guide Bef ore Using the Remote Contr ol Inser ting the Batteries The batteries are not already inse rted into the remote control at the time the projector is purchased. Y ou will need to insert the batteries that are provided with the projector before the remote control can be used.

15 User’s Guide Installation Setting Up the Projector The projector supports the follo wing four different projection methods, allo wing you to choose the best method for displaying your images. * A special method of installation is required for suspending the projector from the ceiling.
16 Installation User’s Guide Screen Size and Projection Distance The distance between the projector's lens and the screen determines the actual image size. While referring to the follo wing table, position the projector so that the images are projected onto th e screen at the optimum size.
17 User’s Guide Inser ting and Remo ving Car ds (EMP-765/755 only) Y ou can use PC cards such as wireless LAN cards and memory cards with the EMP-765/755. Inserting and removing PC car ds will be e xplained using the included wireless LAN card provided as an e xample.
18 Inserting and Removing Cards (EMP-765/755 only) User’s Guide Remo val PR OCEDURE Press the eject bu tton to th e left of the card slot. The eject bu tton will pop out. Press the eject button a gain. Enough of the PC card will be ej ected so that you can grasp the edge of the card and pull it straight out of the slot.
19 Inserting and Removing Cards (EMP-765/755 only) User’s Guide Access Lamp Status When a memory card has been inserted into the projector's card slot, you can check the access status of the memory card by noting whether the access lamp is lit and wh at colour it is, as described belo w .

Furthermore, the user's logo that is displayed on the background of the screen cannot be changed.
32 Preventing theft (P assword Protect) User’s Guide The password entry screen will not be displayed at all when the po wer is turned on until the length of time that has been set has elapsed. When the set length of time has elapsed, the passw ord entry screen will be displayed each time the po wer is turn ed on.

Adjusting Computer Images and RGB Video Images Automatic setup detects analogue RGB signals coming from a connected computer , and automatically adjusts these signals so that the optimum images can be obtained.
45 Adjusting the Image Quality User’s Guide If vertical stripes a ppear in the projected computer or RGB video images, and this cannot be f ixed using automatic setup, you will need to adjust the T racking g manually using the follo wing procedure.

50 User’s Guide Functions f or Enhancing Pr ojection This section describes the v arious useful functions that can be used to enhance presentations. A/V Mute This function momentarily pauses the image and sound.
51 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection User’s Guide Freeze This function pauses only the project ed images. The sound ke eps playing without pausing. The image source will still be pl aying back the images e ven while projection is paused, and so it will no t be possible to resume projection from the point where it was paused.
52 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection User’s Guide E-Zoom This function lets you enlarge and reduc e a part of projected images such as graphs and tables. PROCEDURE Press the [E-Zoom ] b utton. A cursor (cross) indicating the centre point for the area to be enlarged will appear on the screen.
53 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection User’s Guide P ointer function This function lets you use the remote control to move a pointer icon around on the images being projected. This function can be used to emphasise parts of an image that you want to draw attention to.

73 User’s Guide Using the Help If a problem occurs with the proj ector , the Help function uses on-screen displays to assist you in solving the pr oblem. It uses a series of menus in a question and answer format. PROCEDURE Press the [Help] button. The help menu will be displayed.
74 Using the Help User’s Guide Repeat the operations in steps 2 and 3 to proceed thr ough the menu to more detailed items. The help menu is cleared when the [Help] bu tton is pressed. 4 TIP If the Help function does not provide a solution to the problem, ref er to "Problem Solving" s p.

76 Problems Solving User’s Guide Internal temperature error (ov erheating) The lamp will turn of f automatically and projection will stop. W ait fo r about 5 minutes. After about 5 minutes the projector will switch to standby mode, so check the follo wing two points.

99 User’s Guide Maintenance This section describes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and replacing consumable parts. Cleaning Y ou should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of projected images starts to deteriorate.
100 Maintenance User’s Guide Replacing Consumables This section describes ho w to replace the lamp and the air filters. It is time to replace the lamp when: • The message "Replace the Lam p ." appears on the screen when projection star ts.
101 Maintenance User’s Guide PROCEDURE T urn off the pr ojector's powe r , wait until the "pip-pip" confirmation buzzer sounds , and then disconnect the power cab le . W ait until the lamp has cooled down, then remo ve the lamp cover fr om the base of the pr ojector .
102 Maintenance User’s Guide T ake out the lamp. Hold the lamp as sho wn in the illustration below and lift it up and out of the projector . If the lamp is broken replace it with a ne w lamp, or contact your local dealer for further advice. If replacing the lamp yourself, be careful to av oid pieces of broken glass.
103 Maintenance User’s Guide The projector has a built-in counter which k eeps track of the lamp operating time. When the cumulati ve operating time reaches a certain point, it causes the replacement w arning message to be displayed. Therefore, the counter needs to be re set after the lamp has been replaced with a ne w one.
104 Maintenance User’s Guide If the air filters are brok en or if th e warning message reappears after the y hav e been cleaned, th ey should be replaced.
105 User’s Guide Sa ving a User's Logo Y ou can record the image that is curre ntly being projected as a user's logo. PROCEDURE Project the ima ge that you w ould like to use as a user's logo, and then press the [Menu] b utton.
