12 Adjusting the Ima g e Quality Adjusting Computer Images and RGB Video Images Automatic setup detects analogue RGB signals coming from a connected computer , and automatically adjusts these signals so that the optimum images can be obtained.
13 Adjusting the Image Quality B Adjust the tracking until th e ver tical st ripes disappear fr om the image . The tracking v alue increases or decreases each time a button is pressed.
14 Adjusting the Image Quality B Adjust the synchr onization until the horizontal noise disappears fr om the image. The sync v alue increases or decreases each time a button is pressed.
15 Adjusting the Image Quality PROCEDURE Each time you press the button, the colour modes change in the follo wing order . The current setting appears in the t op-right corner of the screen each time the colour mode is changed.
16 Adjusting the Pr ojection P osition (Ima g e Shift) When you cannot setup this projector di rectly in front of the screen, the projection position can be f inely tuned without moving this projector . PROCEDURE A Using the button on the projector , perform zoom adjustment or keystone correction .
17 Adjusting the V olume The v olume of the projector's built-in speak er can be adjusted as follows. PROCEDURE When the button is pressed to the [ ] side, the v olume increases, and when it is pressed to the [ ] side, the v olume decreases. The vo lume gauge appears on the screen when the volume is being adjusted.
18 Changing the Pr ojected Image (Sour ce Sear c h) A utomaticall y Detect Incoming Signals and Change the Pr ojected Image (Sour ce Searc h) The picture signal input from the connected equipment is automatically detected and projected. PROCEDURE A P erf orm the Source Sear ch.

20 Functions f or Enhancing Pr ojection P ausing the Image an d Sound (A/V Mute) For e xample, this can be used if you want to pause the projection for a moment and focus the audience’ s atte ntion on what you are saying. Or if you are making a computer presenta tion and you do not want to sho w details, such as selecting dif ferent f iles.
21 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection Changing the Aspect Ratio (Resizing) This function changes the aspect ratio g of images from 4:3 to 16:9 when component video g , S-V i deo g , or composite video g images are being projected. Images which hav e been recorded in digital video or onto D VDs can be vie wed in 16:9 wide-screen format.
22 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection B Move the pointer icon. Enlar ging P ar t of the Image (E-Zoom) This is useful when you want to see images in greater detail, such as graphs and details in a table.
23 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection B Move the cr oss to th e area of the image that is to be enlarged or reduced. C Enlarge. Y ou can reduce the enlar ged image by pressing the [-] button.
24 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection Once the connection has been made, th e mouse pointer can be operated as follo ws. • The USB cable can only be connected to computers with a standard USB interface.
25 Functions for Enhanci ng Projection • If the mouse button settings are set to reverse on the computer , the operation of the remote control buttons will also be reversed. • The wireless mouse function cannot be used while the follo wing functions are being used.
26 Security functions Preventing theft (P assw ord Pr otect) When the Password Pro tect function is activ ated, people who do not kno w the password will not be able to use the pr ojector to project images, if the po wer has been disconnected since the pass word was last entered correctly .
27 Security functions When "P assw ord Timer" is se t to "ON" and "Timer" is used The password entry screen will not be displayed at all when the po wer is turned on until the length of time that has been set has elapsed.
28 Security functions C T u rn "P assw or d Timer" on. If you don't use this sett ing, proceed to step 4. (1) Select "Password T imer", and then press the [Enter] b utton. (2) Select "ON", and then press the [Enter] button.
29 Security functions Operation Button Lock Function This function locks the buttons on the projector's control panel. This function is useful at times such as during sho w ev ents so that only projection is carried out deacti v ating all buttons operation, or in places such as schools to limit the rang e of b uttons that can be operated.
30 Security functions C When the confirmation message is displaye d, select "Y es". The control panel buttons will be lock ed in accordance w ith the selected setting.

41 Using the Help If a problem occurs with the proj ector , the Help function uses on-screen displays to assist you in solving the pr oblem. It uses a series of menus in a question and answer format. PROCEDURE A Display the Help men u. B Select a menu item.
42 Using the Help D Repeat the operations in steps 2 and 3 to proceed thr ough the menu to more detailed items. E Press the [Help] button to e xit the help menu. If the Help function does not provide a solution to the problem, refer to "Problem Solving" s p.
43 Pr ob lems Solving If you are ha ving a problem with the project or , first check the projector's indicators and refer to "Reading the Indicators" be lo w . If the indicators do not sho w clearly what the problem might be, refer to "When the Indicators Provide No Help".
44 Problems Solving Internal temperature error (ov erheating) The lamp will turn of f automatically and projection will stop. W ait fo r about 5 minutes. After about 5 minutes the projector will switch to standby mode, so check the follo wing two points.
45 Problems Solving Lamp replacement notif ication Replace the lamp with a ne w one. s p.58 If you continue to use the lamp after it has pass ed the replacement period, the possibility that the lamp may break will increase. Replace the lamp with a ne w one as soon as possible.
46 Problems Solving When the Indicator s Pro vide No Help If any of the follo wing problems occur a nd the indicators do not of fer a solution, re fer to the pages gi ven for each problem. 55 Installation Setting Up the Projector The projector supports the follo wing four different projection methods, allo wing you to choose the best method for displaying your images. * A special method of installation is required for suspending the projector from a ceiling.
56 Maintenance This section describes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and replacing consumable parts. Cleaning Y ou should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of projected images starts to deteriorate. Clean the projector's surface by wi ping it gently with a soft cloth.
57 Maintenance Replacing Consumables This section explains ho w to replace the remote control batteries, the lamp, and the air f ilters. If delays in the responsi veness of the remote control occur or if it does not operate after it has been used for so me time, it probably means that the batteries are becoming flat.
58 Maintenance It is time to replace the lamp when: • The message "Replace the Lam p ." appears on the screen when projection star ts . • When the Lamp indicator is flashing orange • The projected image gets darker or star ts to deteriorate Lamp Replacement P eriod A message will be displayed.
59 Maintenance PROCEDURE A After y ou turn off the pr ojector’ s power , and the confirmation buzzer beep s twice, disconnect the power cab le . B W ait until the lamp has cooled down, then remove the lamp co ver from the base of the pr ojector .
60 Maintenance E Install the new lamp. Insert the ne w lamp so that the lamp fits in place correctly and once it is fully inserted, tighten the two scre ws. F Install the lamp cover . Slide the lamp cov er and tighten the cov er fixing scre w s. • Install the lamp securely.
61 Maintenance The projector has a built-in counter which k eeps track of the lamp operating time. When the cumulati ve operating time reaches a certain point, it causes the replacement w arning message to be displayed. Therefore, the counter needs to be re set after the lamp has been replaced with a ne w one.
62 Maintenance If the air filters are brok en or if th e warning message reappears after the y hav e been cleaned, th ey should be replaced. The air f ilter can be replaced e ven if the projector is installed on a ceiling.
63 Sa ving a User's Logo Y ou can record the image that is curre ntly being projected as a user's logo. PROCEDURE A Pr oject the image you w ould like to use as the user’ s logo, and then displa y the configuration menu. B Select "Extended" fr om the configuration menu, and then select "User’ s Log o".
64 Saving a User's Logo C When "Choose this image as the User's Logo?" appears, select "Y es". D The image to be recorded and a selection mar quee bo x will be display ed. Move the mar quee bo x to select the par t of the image to use.
65 Chec king Projected Ima ges on an Ex ternal Monitor (Monitor Output) While performing presentations and so on, you can check analogue RGB images and RGB video images from a computer being input to the "Computer/ Component V i deo" terminal by connecting an external monitor to this projector .

68 Glossary Squeeze mode In this mode, wide-scree n images in 16:9 mode are compr essed in the horizontal direction so that they are stored on the recording medium as 4:3 images. When these images are played back by the projector in squeeze mode, they are restored to their original 16:9 fo rmat.
69 List of ESC/VP21 Commands Command List When a po wer on command is sent to th e projector , the power will turn on and the projector will change to warm-up mode.
70 List of ESC/VP21 Commands USB Connection Setup In order to control the projector using ESC/VP21 commands via a USB connection, the follo wing prepar ations must be carried out. PROCEDURE A Download the USB driver (USB-COM Driver) fr om the EPSON website to y our computer .
