Disturbanc e Cause Troubleshooting Rem edy Defective thermostat. 1.Turn thermostat knob to zero. 2.Compressor continues to run. 3.Dismount brown wire. 4.Compressor continues to run. 5.Compressor stops. 4.Check internal wiring for short circuit (fast- freeze switch).
Ditrubanc e Cause Trouble-shooting R eme dy No-Frost Check if blade is locked mechanically. Fittings for fa n or air guiding duct are adjusted or replaced. Check if bl ade is fix ed correctly on shaft. Blade must turn so that air flow only can be sucked in and blown out in the right places.
Disturbanc e Cause Trouble-shooting Rem edy Ic e blockage in capillary tube. Heat injection area on evaporator with cloth with hot water. I f refrigerant now can be h e a r dt of l o wm o r e quickly through t he sy stem, ice blockage in capillary tube is indicated.

1.2. T rou ble-S ho oting in th e E lectric Circu it. Befor e sy stematic tr ouble- shooting is c omm enced, chec k to ensure that: - The fu ses are intact. - The corr ect volt age has be en used (vo!t rnete r). - The electrical equ ipm ent used is su itable for the cam - pressOr.
1.3. Check ing for Leak age to Frame For checking w hether there is leakag e between th e live parts and the fram e, the insulation resistan ce can be tested usin g an ohmm eter , megg er or high-v oltage testing device. An ohm meter can be used for a rough check.
Starting device with HST Connect a voltm eter b etween terminals 10 and 13 on the start- ing device. If no voltage can be meas ured, either the m ains cable or the socket is defective.
1.6. The PTC Starting Device It should be noted that starting d evice 1 03N001 2, which is used for the f reezing com pressor of refrig erator/freezer uprigh ts, is installed differently than is starting device 1 03N001 1, which is used for the refrigeratin g compres sor.
1 .7. Using a Manometer in Trouble-Shooting The pressure in a refrigerating system is directly dependent on the tem perature. For this reason, the manom eter can indicate both tem perature in degrees C elsiu s and pressure in bar. By m ounting a m anometer on the suction s ide of the compres- sor ~process ppe~.
Exam ples of troubl e-sh ooting u sing a m anom eter on the suc - tion side (process pip e) and a service valve: 1 . The system is blocked. The suc tion pr essure i s very low. Pressure equalizing takes place very slow ly or not at all. Cause: Ice blockage in the capillary tube at the filter or blockag e in th e sy stem for other reas ons.
2. MAKING REPAIRS TO THE REFRIGERATING SYSTEM 2.1. Opening the Refrigerating System with Refrige- rant R600a (Isob utane) for Repai rs The Possibility of Fire/Explo sion exists Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the following points before commencin g repairs o f the refrigerating sy stem : 1.
Actual Evacu ation After m ounting of the filling hose, the sy stem is ready f or the actual evacuation. Ev acuate until a s table vacuum of 1 mbar has been reached. Check for stability of the vacuum by closing the valve for t he vacuum pump (12 ). I f the vacuum gauge need le fall s appreciably, possible leakage in the sy stem is indicated.
First Evacuation of Ap pliances with R600a in the System 1. Drilling and tapping of filter dr ier, after thorough cleaning where the gasket o f the tongs must be tight. 2. Mount the hos e - open th e valv e. The sy stem can then be blown through w ith nitrogen (see section: T he Blowing Pro cess).
The Blow ing Proc ess of the System. the Filling Sta - tion and the Vacuum Pumo and Opening of the Sys- tem 7. Dr illing and tapping of the pro cess pipe. 8. Connec t dry nitro gen and eq ualiz e the pr essure in the sy stem. 9. Open the valv e on th e tongs at the filter dri er and the spherical valve (18).
Actual Evacuation and Filling of R600a 1. Mounting of the filling hose w ith spherical valve - see fig. 7. Thereafter, ev acuate. 2. T esting of the m icroscales with a weight. 3. Connect the refrigerant tank to the filling hose (16), and open the valve (9).
2.1.1. Opening the Re frigerating System for Repairs with Recovery of Refrigerant. If a hermetic refrigerating sy stem is to function correctly and have a reasonably long life, it is essen tial that the amoun t of impurities pre-sent in the system , i.
Pinc h the cha rging p ipe with p lier s. Remove t he ser vice va lve and so lder t he hole to gethe r. Brush of f all solderin gs in th e sys tem an d check for possibl e leakage w ith an electronic leak detector. Check the pressu re side when the compressor is in op eration and the suction side w hen the system is pressure equalized.
Evacuation with Recovery of Refrigerant 1. Drillin g an d tapping of filt er drier aft er thorou gh clea ning where the gasket of the to ngs must be tight. 2. Mount the refrig erant bag - open the valve. 3. Close the valve aft er pr essure e qual izing-d ismount the refrigerant bag .
Opening the System 7. Drilling and tap ping of process p ipe. 8. Connect dry nitrog en and equal ize the pres sure. 9. Open the system w ith cap illary tube scissors and remove the drilling and tapping valv e.
2.1.2. Em ptying used Refrigerant to Press ure Vessel from Refrigerant Bag Connect the suction valve on the emptying un it with hose to the outle t valve o n the empt ying rack fo r re frige rant b ags. O pen t he main v alve and the valve f or the bags to be emptied.
2.1.3. Openin g the Refrigeratin g System with Refrigerant R134a for Repai rs As R134a has oth er properties than the R12 used till now , it is important to note the follow ing before opening the herm etic refrigerating sy stem: 1.
2.2. Replacing the Filt er Drier Some m oisture and impurities w ill alway s b e accumulated in the filter drier, both fro m residue left in t he system a fter installation and from contamin ation given off by the compres- sor, pipe sy stem and refrigerant.
Capillary tube broken off without the use of special-purp ose pliers. Capillary tube bro ken off using special-purpose pliers or capillary tube scissors. In order to ensure an efficient utilization of the filter drier, it should be positioned w ith an inclination of at least 15° and w ith the capillary tube lowered.
2.3. Replacin g the Com pressor If trouble-shooting in the electric cir cuit or volumetric meas uremen ts indicate that th e compress or is defective, a new compressor must be installed. The follow ing procedure is to be used: Ensure that the n ew com pressor is ready for installation.
2.4. Replacin g the Evaporator The pipe system s of all Vestfrost heat exch angers are m ounted in plastic tubing with a diameter of 18/14.6 mm. It is therefore necessary to str aighten out the suction pip e and capillary tub e w hen an evaporator is to be replaced.
2.5. Replacin g the Therm ostat Uprights Dismoun t the phial tube and straighten out the phial. Draw off the insul ation, if any , around the phial. The phial can now be drawn out o f the lead-in pip e from th e back of the unit. After th e plug h as been rem oved from the socket, rem ove the cover for th e top panel and th e panel box.
Position ing of the Th erm ostat Phial in NFG 307 from Serial No. 501----- In ord er to e nsure the p rop er funct ioning o f the thermosta t 90 mm of the free end of the capillary tube is to serve as th ermostat phial.
