1 W elcome to AquaSmart™ Thank you for buying a Fisher & Pa ykel AquaSmar t™ clothes washer . W e are very proud of this washer and trust it will ser ve you well for many years. At Fisher & P aykel we aim to provide innovativ e products that are simple to use, ergonomic and kind to the environment.

3 Installation instruc tions W ater supply This clothes washer should be plumbed into both a hot and cold water supply other wise some cycles may not function correctly . F or best operating conditions your hot water should be appro ximately 65˚C. Y our hot water should not exceed 75˚C or your cold water exc eed 35˚C.
4 Installation instruc tions Clothes washer safety This clothes washer is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without super vision. Y our AquaSmart™ can only be opened during the initial fill stage. Once the fill is complete, the lid will be locked for safety reasons.
5 Befor e you do y our rst wash Y ou owe it to yourself and your AquaSmart™ to hav e it installed correctly by an authorised ser vice agent. Before you star t, it is a good idea to go through the.
6 Getting star ted quick ly It is impor tant to sor t your clothes, par ticularly by colour , as well as separating out sheets and washing them on the SHEETS cycle. Jeans also need to be washed separat ely on the JEANS cycle (ref er to page 10 for more details on sorting and loading).

8 A quaSmar t™ contr ols Easy touch controls These smooth, easy clean buttons require only a gentle touch to ac tivate . T o scroll you need to remov e your finger to break contact and touch it again. Once you become accustomed to the soft touch technology you will find it effortless to operate.
9 The unique A quaSmar t™ wash The AquaSmart™ washer has t wo modes of washing, High Efficiency and C onv entional . Bo th modes start the same way , with a D etergen t Activating wash. Detergent Activating wash AquaSmart™ fills the bowl at the selec ted water temperatur e, with just enough water so the clothes are saturated.
10 F ully automatic wa ter level Y ou ma y not ic e that yo ur Aq uaSm ar t ™ clot hes wa sher beh av es di ffe ren tly fr om yo ur pr eviou s wash er . Y our AquaSmart™, like all High Efficiency washers, has a fully automatic water level. This means that, like Fr ont Loaders, the selection of the water level is left entirely up to the washer .
11 Deter gent Choosing the right detergent Y our AquaSmart™ is a High Efficiency clothes washer and needs Low Sudsing Detergent to preven t oversudsing problems. This is the same t ype of detergent Fr ont Loaders use and are labelled, “Lows Suds” , “Matic” or “H igh Efficienc y ” .
12 F abric sof tener Choosing the right c ycle If you wish to use fabric sof tener you will need to select the F ABRIC SOFTENER option which will give you a deep rinse. I f fabr ic sof tener is not selected, the sof tener will not be dispensed. 1 Select your wash c ycle.
13 Choosing y our wash c ycle When you turn your AquaSmart™ washer on, the main wash cycles will be displayed. Regular CHOOSE WASH T o view all 10 wash c ycles , the Lifestyle cycles and menu options, use the arrow buttons to scroll to t he ri ght.

15 Changing the w ash c y cle options T emperature AquaSmart™ offers five wash temperatures . Cold T ap Cold W arm/Cold W arm W arm/Hot Hot In com ing wate r from tap 20°C 35°C 40°C 50°C 60°C U.
16 Drip Dr y Selecting Drip Dr y will pause the washer at the end of the rinse, allowing you to remov e drip -dr y garments before the washer goes into final spin. Y our AquaSmar t™ will beep and display a message to remind you to remov e items. Once the items have been remo ved press ST ART/P AUSE to begin the spin.
17 W ash c ycles explained Regular Regular – H igh Efficienc y Mode F or normally soiled everyday cotton loads, eg. towels , t-shir ts, shorts, shir ts. Regular – H igh Efficienc y Mode Off F or ever yda y loads where ex tra water is an advantage.

19 Changing the w ash c y cle options W ash c ycles explained Whi tes Whites – High Efficiency Mode A higher temperature wash to keep white garments look ing white. Whites – High Efficiency Mode Off When you want to use more water when washing white garments.
20 Changing the w ash c y cle options Bulky wash options Duvet/Doona Blanket Throw Jacket Sleeping bag Rinse and Spin Rinse and Spin – High Efficienc y M ode This c ycle allows you to select a wat er efficient R inse and Spin only .
21 Lifestyle cycles No experienc e necessar y Y our AquaSmart™ washer offers you a range of special Lifestyle cycles, to make washing even easier . These c ycles have been specifically designed by our washing exper ts, with you in mind. W e have incorporated 70 years of washing knowledge into 19 easy to use, prepr ogrammed wash cycles.
22 Lifestyle cycles The Lifestyle c ycles are presented in five distinc t categories, to help you to access them quickly and easily . The following pages explain the unique cycles that are located within these categories, and how they might be of help.
23 Lifestyle cycles Stains W e recommend that you treat a stain as soon as you can. There are a number of stains that need special treatmen t due to their unique composition. Some water temperatur es can actually set stains rather than remov e them. This is why we have carefully designed our preprogr ammed ST AINS c ycles for you.
24 Lifestyle cycles F amily Some common household washing situations may requir e extra washing k nowledge. W e have created five unique F AMIL Y c ycles to help you with those trick y situations . Duvet/Doona Duvets and doonas can be difficult items to wash as they are bulky and often float out of the water .
25 Lifestyle cycles Spor ts Outdoor ac tivities can create some unique washing challenges. W e hav e created four helpful wash c ycles to quick ly deal with these situations, with no think ing requir ed.
26 Settings menu After using your AquaSmart™ washer you may wish to fine -tune some of the options to suit your individual needs. Any options changed in this menu is a permanent change, unless ‘Reset Defaults’ is selected (ref er to page 29). T o access the Settings Menu: 1 T u rn your AquaSmart™ washer on.
27 Settings menu Balance Recovery When your washer is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out of balance. It will stop and tr y to spin up to three times. If the machine still senses an unbalanced load, there are t wo options the machine can take: 1.
28 Settings menu Key Lock mode Key lock automatically locks the buttons on your AquaSmart™ when not in use. This will avoid accidental button pushes from items left on the lid of the washer and also from any little fingers. T o turn Key Lock Mode ON or OFF: Acc ess the Settings Menu (refer page 26).
29 Settings menu T rouble Shooting F or help with some of the more common issues you may encounter . Acc ess the Settings Menu (refer page 26). Scroll to the TROUBLE SHOOTING option, and press SELEC T . Use the SCROLL buttons to scroll through the information provided .
30 When you hav e finished the c ycle T ur n off the taps to prevent the chance of flooding should a hose burst. Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Cleaning y our AquaSmart™ Before you star t cleaning your AquaSmart™ washer , ensure that it is turned off at the wall or that the Key Lock mode has been activated (refer to page 28).
31 Caring f or your A quaSmar t™ washer Cleaning your low profile agitator If your low profile agitator becomes stained we recommend you use household bleach to clean it. Ensure you wear glov es, tip a small amount of household bleach onto a sof t cloth and apply to the stain.
32 ABC washing guide Unsure about what the best way is to wash your garment? T r y these handy tips for some of those tricky washing challenges: A Allergy If you or someone in your household has allergies we would suggest using the ALLERGY cycle to wash bedding and clothing to remov e dust mites and their wastes as well as any residual detergent .
33 ABC washing guide D Damp Items The SPIN ONL Y cycle is handy for spinning out damp items before dr ying. Choose SPIN ONL Y . Delicates F or clothing that requires a more gentle approach selec t the DELICA TE CYCLE , and for extra special items tr y HANDW ASH.
34 ABC washing guide J Jackets T o care for bulk y jackets choose BULKY , then JACKET . Jeans Choose LIFEST YLE, SPECIAL CARE, then JEANS. L Lingerie T o take special care of your lingerie, do up any hooks and eyes and place small delicate items in a lingerie wash bag.
35 ABC washing guide T T ablecloths W e recommend using the SHE ETS cycle to properly care for large flat items such as table cloths. Choose SHEETS. T e a T owels T o ensure that bac teria is remov ed from items such as tea tow els we recommend that you wash these items on the HY GIENE c ycl e.
36 Lid lock Y our AquaSmart™ washer is able to lock its lid during hazardous par ts of the wash c ycle , to provide extra safety for you and your family while it is operating. The Lid Lock symbol (padlock) appears in the top right hand corner of the screen, letting you know at a glance if you can open the lid or not.
37 Befor e you call f or ser vice Please read the following pages before you call for ser vice. Y ou can correct many of your machine ’ s problems yourself , using the checklists on the follo wing pages.
38 Befor e you call f or ser vice “I am not getting any COLD W A TER” . Check that the cold water supply has been turned on. Y our cold water temperatur e may ex ceed the recommended limits (ref er to Installation instructions pages 2 – 4). Check that the inlet hose filter is not blocked.
39 Solving operating pr oblems Pr essing POWER does not turn on machine. Is the power switched on at the wall? Unplug from wall. Wait 60 seconds, plug back in, turn on and try again. Could household power supply be at fault? T r y plugging in another appliance.
40 Solving operating pr oblems W ash CY CLE TIME longer than usual. If water pressure is low , cycle time will increase due to longer fill times. Ensure that inlet hose filters are not blocked. Y our machine may have initiated W ash Recovery Mode where it has sensed your load is washi ng unevenly .
41 CREASING. W as the washer or dr yer overloaded? Selecting the EASY IRON cycle will minimise creasing. T r y not to leave wet clothes sitting in the washer or laundr y basket. LINTING. W as the washer overloaded? W ash lint giv ers, eg. towels, separately from lint receivers , eg.
42 Manufac turer ’ s warr anty When you purchase any new Fisher & P aykel whiteware Pr oduct you automatically receiv e a two year Manufac turer ’ s warranty cov ering par ts and labour for ser vicing .
43 F irst, check for the things you can do yourself . Refer to your User Guide and check : 1 Y our appliance is correctly installed. 2 Y ou are familiar with its normal operation.
