— 11 — Equipment needed: V acuum pump , charging cylinder , manifold gauge , brazing equipment, pinch-off tool capable of making a vapor proof seal, leak detector , tubing cutter , hand tools to remov e components and ser vice valv e.
— 12 — 2 . 4.4 ELECTRICAL D AT A USE OF EXTENSION CORDS Because of potential saf ety hazards, w e strongly discourage the use of an e xtension cord. Howe ver , if you wish to use an e xtension cord, use a CSA cer tified/UL-listed 3-wire (grounding) e xtension cord, rated 15A, 125V .
— 13 — 3 .2 PIPING SYSTEM F ollowing is a brief descr iption of the impor tant components and their function in what is called the refr igeration system. Ref erence should be made to Figure 32 to follow the refrigerating cycle and the flo w of the refr igerant in the cooling cycle.
— 14 — 3 .3 T R OUBLESHO O TING GUIDE In general, possib le trouble is classified in two kinds. The one is called Starting Failure which is caused b y an electrical defect. The other is Ineffective Air Con- ditioning caused by a def ect in the refrigeration circuit and improper application.
— 15 — Fails to Start Improper ther mostat setting Loose terminal connection Improper wiring Che c k voltage power source. Drop of power v oltage. Capacitor check. Replacement. Che c k control s witch setting. Compressor f ails to star t. De f ect of compressor or capacitor .
COMPLAINT CA USE REMED Y F an motor will not run. No power Check v oltage at outlet. Correct if none. P o w er supply cord Che c k v oltage to electronic control board. If non e , check p o w er supply cord. Replace cord if circuit is open. Wire disconnected or Connect wire.
— 17 — COMPLAINT CA USE REMED Y F an motor noise. F an blade If crac ked, out of balance , or par tially missing, replace it. Bl o w er wheel If c r a c k ed, out of balanc e , or pa r tially missing, replace it. Loose set screw Tighten it. W o r n bea r ings If kno c king sounds cont i n ue when r unning replace the moto r .
— 18 — COMPLAINT CA USE REMED Y Compressor cycles on F an motor If not r unning, deter mine the cause. Replace if ov er load. required. Condenser air flow Remov e the cabinet, inspect the inter ior surf ace restriction of the condenser . If restricted, clean carefully with a vacuum cleaner (do not damage fins) or brush.
