2 Intr oduction Thank you for purchasing our fi -6670(A)/fi-6770(A)/fi -6750S series Color Image Scanner. Scanner Models This manual covers the followi ng five scanne r models, each featur- ing as: Manu als The following manuals are prepared for the scanner.
3 Conventions Canadian DOC Regulations This digital apparatus does not exce ed the Class B limit for radio noise emissions from digital apparatus set out in the Radio interfer- ence Regulations of the Canadian Department of Communications. This Class B digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003.

5 Safety Information Safe ty Inf ormation W arning Indications Used In This Manual The following indications are used in this manual to obviate any change of accident or damage to you and/or the equipment. The following are important warn ings described in this manual.
6 The follo wing are impor tant caut ions described in this manual Unplug the scanner whe n a tr ouble occurs. Immediately unplug the scanner when a trouble occurs. Never cut the ground connec tion until the scanner is unplugged from the Power outlet.
7 Safety Information Disconnect the po wer plug fr om the P ower outlet when the scanne r is not in use f or a long period of time. When the scanner is not going to be used for a long period of time, be sure to disconnect the power plug from the Power outlet.
8 1 Preparation Contents of the Scanner P acka ge When you open the scanner pac kage , handle the main unit and its attachments carefully . Make sure the scanner pac kage contains all the par ts listed in the pac kage contents list that is included in the package bo x.

10 ■ Model-Common P ar ts Functions of the Operator P anel The Operator P anel is compr ised of a Function Number Displa y , button s, and LEDs , which are used to operate the scanner and to chec k the scanner status.

12 2 Installing the Scanner The f ollowing describes ho w to install the scanner . 1 Place the scanner at its installation s ite. The outer dimensions and the spaces required f o r installing the respectiv e scanner types are as f ollows: 2 Unlock the T ransport Lock (Flatbed type onl y).
2 Installing the Scanner 13 3) Gently close the Document Cov er . 4) Change the position of the ADF . The ADF can be set to any of the f ollo wing three positions: After repositioning the ADF , be sure that the ADF is firmly locked to the ne w position.
14 3 Connecting the Cables The f ollowing describes ho w to connect the cables betw een the scanner and y our computer . The type of the connector for the cable depends on t he scanner model y ou use. Confirm the scanner model and use the correct cable .
3 Connecting th e Cables 15 1 Make sure that the computer is turned OFF . 2 Open the Cable Co ver (ADF type onl y). 3 Connect the scanner to y our computer either with a USB or SCSI cable. The f ollowing describes the requirements f or connecting with the respectiv e cables .
16 4 Installing the Scanner Software Brief Inf ormation on the Bundled Software T o scan documents with this scanner , y ou must install a scanner driv er f or operating the scanner as w ell as scanning software (hereinafter called the "application") f or launching the dr iver an d perf orming a scan.
4 Installing the Scanner Software 17 ■ Adobe Acrobat 8.1 Standard A de-f acto standard application used f or creating, editing, managing, and making use of digitaliz ed documents in PDF format. *1: The product ID used f or its installation diff ers from the official product name .
18 Installing the Bundled Software The f ollowing describes ho w to install the b undl ed software from the “SETUP D VD-ROM” contained in the scanner pac kage. Y ou can select either the [INST ALL (Recommended)] or [INST ALL (Custom)] menu when installing the SETUP D VD-ROM.
4 Installing the Scanner Software 19 4 Clic k the [INST ALL (Recommended)] button. D The list of scanners appears. 5 Select the scanner model name y ou will be using. Then, clic k the [Next] button. 6 Install the software, follo wing the on-screen instruction s.
20 3 Insert the SETUP DVD-R OM into your D VD drive . D The [FUJITSU Image Scanner Setup] screen appears. 4 Click the [INST ALL (Custom)] button. D The [INST ALL PRODUCTS] screen appears. 5 Click the b utton f or the software to be installed. 6 Install the software, follo wing the on-screen i nstructions.
4 Installing the Scanner Software 21 Installing Adobe Acr obat The f ollowing describes how to install Adobe Acrobat using the "Adobe Acrobat D V D-R OM" provided with this scanner . 1 Insert the Adobe Acrobat D VD-ROM into y our D VD drive .
22 5 T est-Scanning Documents Using ScandAll PRO , you can test-scan documents to check if the y are scanned with the ADF correctly . F or how to scan docume nts with the flatbed, ref er to “Chapter 5 V ar ious Documents” in the Operator’ s Guide.
5 Test-Scanning Documents 23 4 Load a sheet into the scanner . 1) Load the document on the ADF P aper Chute f ace down. 2) Align the side guides to the width of the document. 3) Pull out the Stacker to the length of the document, and then raise the Stopper .
24 10 Select the [Scan] men u D [Scan Settings]. D The [Scan Settings] dialog bo x appears. 11 Clear the [Save to file] chec kbo x. 12 Click the [Scanner Setting] b utton. D The scanner driver’ s setting dialog box appears . 13 Configure scanner settings suc h as the resolution and paper size.
