2 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS S Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment for y our not ebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factor y for normal operating conditions, therefor e there should be no need to set or change the BIOS enviro nment to operate your not ebook.
3 3. If an error message is displa yed on the screen, and you want to enter the setup utility , press the [F2] k ey . 4. W hen the setup utility star ts with a fault present, the system display s the following message: Warning! Error message [Continue] 5.
4 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS MAIN MENU – SETTING ST AN DARD SYSTEM P ARAMETERS The Main M enu allows y o u to set or view the current system parameters.
5 Serial A T A Port 0: Selects the Ser ial A T A Port 0 submenu. The product # of the Serial A T A/IDE Drive Display the type of device on this A T A/A T API interface, if there is one. Pressing the Enter key selects the Serial A TA Port 0 submenu allowing additional device c onfigur ation option s for this interface.

8 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS Exiting from Main Menu W hen you ha ve finished setting the parame ters on this menu, y ou can either exit from the setup utilit y , or move t o another menu. If y ou w ish to exit from the setup utility , pr ess the [Esc] key or use the cursor keys to go to the Exit menu or to mov e to another menu.
9 ADV ANCED MENU – SETTING DEVICE FEA TURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allows you to: ■ Set the I/O addresses for the ser ial and parallel por ts. ■ Set the features of the keyboard/mouse. ■ Select between the display panel and/or an e xternal CR T display .
