PREP ARA TION 17 VCR Operation Setup (Continued) Setting the Clock The DVD+VCR gives you two ways to set the time and date: 1) Auto Clock Set, or 2) Manual Clock Set. The Auto Clock Set feature enables the DVD+VCR to set the clock while the DVD+VCR is turned off.
18 DVD Operation Setup General Explanation This manual provides general instructions for operating the DVD+VCR. Some DVDs have special requirements or allow only limited operations during playback. When this occurs, the symbol appears on the TV screen, indicating that the operation is not permitted by the DVD+VCR or is not available on the disc.

The setup menu appears. 2 2 Use v v / V V to select the desired option. The screen will show the current setting for the selected option, as well as alternate setting(s).
20 DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Sound Digital Audio Output Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the DVD+VCR’s Digital Audio Output according to the type of audio system you use.
PREP ARA TION 21 DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Parental Control Rating Movies on DVDs may contain scenes not suitable for children. Therefore, discs may contain Parental Control information that applies to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc.
22 VCR Operation Normal Playback Preparation: T urn on the TV . T une the TV to the DVD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the DVD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.
Normal Recording Preparation: T urn on the power on both the DVD+VCR and TV . T une the TV to the DVD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the DVD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.

26 VCR Operation (Continued) VHS Hi-Fi Stereo System/ MTS Broadcast The DVD+VCR is equipped with a VHS Hi-Fi audio sound system for recording and playback. The informa- tion below gives a brief description of Hi-Fi audio and how to record and play tapes in Hi-Fi audio mode.
OPERA TION 27 VCR Operation (Continued) T ape Counter Memory Feature Real-Time Counter The tape counter shows length of tape in hours, min- utes, and seconds. Press CLK/CTR to select the real- time counter display . Every press of CLK/CTR changes the TV screen as shown below .

Audio system: T urn on the audio system and select the input source connected to the DVD+VCR. Set the DVD+VCR output source to DVD as shown in “Selecting the Viewing Source” on page 6.
