10 Connections Panel VCR IN LINE 1 DVD/ VCR OUT DVD EXCLUSIVE OUT AUDIO OUT COAXIAL Do not touch the inner pins on the rear panel jacks. Electrostatic discharge may cause permanent dam- age to the unit. VCR IN LINE 1 (VIDEO IN/AUDIO IN) Connects to the audio/video output of an external source (audio system, TV/monitor , another VCR).

12 Connections (Continued) Basic TV Connections Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment. RF coaxial connection Connect the RF .OUT jack on the DVD+VCR to the antenna in jack on your TV using the supplied 75-ohm coaxial cable (R) .

15 PREP ARA TION VCR Operation Setup (Continued) VCR Setup Menu Options 1 1 Press MENU to display the MAIN menu. 2 2 Use v v / V V to select the SETUP menu, then press ENTER. The SETUP menu will appear . 3 3 Use v v / V V to choose the desired option on the SETUP menu, then use b b / B B to choose the desired setting.
16 VCR Operation Setup (Continued) Setting the Clock The DVD+VCR gives you two ways to set the time and date: 1) Auto Clock Set, or 2) Manual Clock Set. The Auto Clock Set feature enables the DVD+VCR to set the clock while the DVD+VCR is turned off. Auto Clock Set The Auto Clock Set feature is set to ON at the factory .

18 DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Initial Settings Y ou can set your personal preferences for DVD+VCR operation. General Operation 1 1 Press SETUP . The setup menu appears. 2 2 Use v v / V V to select the desired option. The screen will show the current setting for the selected option, as well as alternate setting(s).
PREP ARA TION 19 DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Sound Digital Audio Output Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the DVD+VCR’s Digital Audio Output according to the type of audio system you use.
20 DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Parental Control Rating Movies on DVDs may contain scenes not suitable for children. Therefore, discs may contain Parental Control information that applies to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc.
OPERA TION 21 VCR Operation Normal Playback Preparation: T urn on the TV . T une the TV to the DVD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the DVD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.
Normal Recording Preparation: T urn on the power on both the DVD+VCR and TV . T une the TV to the DVD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the DVD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.
OPERA TION 23 1 1 0 0 Use V V to choose the SPEED option. Use b b / B B to choose the desired recording speed (AUTO, SP or SLP). AUTO mode determines how much tape is left and automatically switches from SP to SLP , if necessary , to complete recording of the program.
24 VCR Operation (Continued) Instant Timer Recording Instant T imer Recording allows you to easily make a recording of a preset length without using the program- mable timer . Preparation: T urn on the power on both the DVD+VCR and the TV . Be sure the TV is tuned to the DVD+VCR output channel (3 or 4).
OPERA TION 25 VCR Operation (Continued) T ape Counter Memory Feature Real-Time Counter The tape counter shows length of tape in hours, min- utes, and seconds. Press CLK/CTR to select the real- time counter display . Every press of CLK/CTR changes the TV screen as shown below .
26 DVD Operation Playing DVDs Playback Setup T urn on the TV and select the video input source con- nected to the DVD+VCR. Audio system: T urn on the audio system and select the input source connected to the DVD+VCR. Set the DVD+VCR output source to DVD as shown in “Selecting the Viewing Source” on page 6.

The DVD+VCR will go into Pause mode. 2 With a DVD, you can advance the picture frame by frame by pressing P AUSE/STEP ( X ) repeatedly on the remote control.
28 DVD Operation (Continued) General Features (Continued) Marker Search Y ou can start playback from a bookmarked point on your disc. Up to nine points can be memorized. To enter a mark, follow these steps. 1 During disc playback, press MARK when playback reaches the point you want to bookmark.
OPERA TION 29 Operation with Audio CD and MP3 Disc Playing an Audio CD and MP3 Disc The DVD Player can play MP3 formatted recordings on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs. Before playing MP3 recordings, read the notes on MP3 Recordings on right. 1 1 Insert a disc and close the tray .

Moving to another T rack Press REW ( . ) or FF( > ) briefly during playback to go to the next track or to return to the beginning of the current track.
OPERA TION 31 V iewing a JPEG disc This DVD Player can play discs with JPEG files and Kodak picture CD. Before playing JPEG recordings, read the notes on JPEG Recordings on right. 1 1 Insert a disc and close the tray . The MP3/JPEG choice menu appears on the TV screen.
32 Programmed Playback MP3 CD Programmed Playback with Audio CD and MP3 Disc The Program function enables you to store your favorite tracks from any disc in the player memory . Program can contain 30 tracks. 1 1 Press PROG.PLA Y during playback or in the stop mode to enter the Program Edit mode.
REFERENCE 33 T roubleshooting Symptom No power . The power is on, but the DVD+VCR does not work. No picture. No sound. The playback picture is poor . The DVD+VCR does not start playback. The remote control does not work properly . Cause The power cord is disconnected.
