INTRODUCTION TO CARDBUS Cardbus is the next generat ion 32-bit version issued by PCM CIA PC Card standard. In additi on to support a wi der bus (32 bits instead of 16 bits ), CardBus also supports bus m astering and operation speeds up to 33 M Hz.
Due to variant design of not ebook computers, some m odels implement a setting in th e Com puter’s BIOS to swi tch between Ca rdbus and 16-bit PC Card modes. You could consul t the User’s Guide of your notebook and properly set on the CardBus or Auto_Detect mode.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION Inserting the CardBus Dual-Speed PC Card 1. Hold the CardBu s PC Card with wide connector toward the slot and the brand label facing upward.
Connecting to the Netw ork Connect RJ-45 port of t he CardBus 10/100 Ethernet PC Card Adap ter to the Category 5 Network cable before loadi ng any network driver.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION Windows 95 Installation (OSR2) 1. Boot up com puter to Windows 95. Make sure the CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card is well conn ected to the CardBus Socket. 2. Cli ck Next in the Update Device Driver Wizard Windows . 3. Cli ck Others Locations to select an installation d river manually.
5. Insert the original Windows 95 CD/disks to reset the system as requested. 6. For the first installatio n, please select Network in the Control Panel window to add Protocols, Cl ient and Service if needed. 7. Restart the system to activate the card.
4. Insert the in stallation disk o r CD into the chosen drive (a floppy dri ve or a CD-ROM drive) and select the location where you load the device driver. Click Next to start the search. The driv er will be installed automatically. 5. Cli ck Next to contin ue when the suitable driver for the device selected.
6. Insert the original Windows 98 CD/disks to reset the system as requested. Click OK to continue. 7. Follow on- screen instruction to complete installation.
8. Cli ck Yes to restart the syst em to activate the card. Windows 2000 Installation 1. When the C ardBus 10/100 Fast Et hernet PC Card is well conn ected to the CardBus Socket, the system will automatically detect the card and ask for the necessary device driver.
3. Insert the in stallation disk o r CD into the chosen drive (a floppy dri ve or a CD-ROM drive) and select the location where you load the device driver. Click Next to start the search. 4. Cli ck Next to continue when t he appropriate driver for the device is selected.
5. Cli ck Yes in the Digital Signature Not Found window to conti nue. 6. Click Finish to complete installation. - 12 -.
Window ME Installation 1. Once the CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card is well conn ected to the CardBus Socket, Windows ME will autom atically detect the card and ask for the device driver. 2. Select Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended) and click Next to continue .
4. Cli ck Next to contin ue when the appropriate driver for the devi ce is selected. 5. Windows Me will copy the appropriate driver to your system. Insert the or iginal Windows ME CD/disks into the chosen drive to reset the system if Windows Me system requests you to do.

3. Windows will start searching for the appro priate installation driver. W hen the screen instruction appears as below, click Continue Anyway to proceed. 4. Wait for seconds while Windows copies the appropriate dri v er to your sy stem. 5. Click Finish to complete the installation.
Novell NetWare Installation 1. At the DOS prompt t ype Start under the path NETWARE . 2. The installation prog ram will automatically proceed. 3. Follow Novel l's instruct ions on using ODI programs. 4. Enter login at the Netware login prom pt, e.
