Y our Civic G X runs on compr essed nat ural ga s (CNG ), a highly pressurized version of t he same clea n-burning nat ural ga s used in many home s. Y our Civic GX opera tes a nd perf orms lik e a ga soline-power ed Civi c. Ho wever, t he re are a f ew dif f erenc es you should be a war e of .

Y our Civic GX is designe d to oper ate on co mp ress ed natural gas (CNG ). T he nat ura l gas you use t o ref uel must meet NFPA -52 and SAE J1616 st andar ds f or f uel composit ion and qualit y.

− − Turn the i g n i ti o n sw itch to the L OCK (0 ) position, and a pply the parkin g b rake. T he re f ueling equipme nt and pro ced ure can vary with the ref ueling st at ion. T he CNG f ill nozzle m ay not look or wor k like t he exa mple on the next pa ge.
CONT INUED Securely con nect t he CNG f ill nozzle to t he f uel receptacle. T urn t h e l ever un til the arrows on t he nozzle point t o each ot her, t hen f ollow t he inst ruct ions on t he ref ueling st at ion to begin ref ueling. While re f ueling, you ma y hear a chat te ring sound.
If dirt or other d ebri s are adheri ng to t h ei n s i d eo f t h ef u e lr e c e p t a c l e ,g a s may le ak out af te r ref ueling. If t his happens, clea n of f t he dirt or de bris with a cle an, dry rag f ro m the CN G f ill n ozzle. I f you need to add more fu e l , d o t h e r e fu e l i n g p r o c e d u r e agai n.

Fuel sy stem ma intena nce and repa ir should be done only by a n author ized Honda Civ ic GX de aler. T he in-t ank f uel shut of f va lve is cont rolled by t he ignit ion swit ch. Wh en the ignit ion swit ch is in t he L OCK ( 0) or ACCESSOR Y ( I) posit ion, the va lve is c losed, shut ting of f f uel f low t o the engine.

− − − If you r egularly driv e your v ehicle in very col d weather [ be lo w 4°F ( 20°C)], consider having an engine block hea ter inst alled. It should great ly improve sta rting in very c ol d weather.
Y our ve hicle displays e ngine oil lif e and mai ntenanc e s ervi ce items on t he inf orma tion displa y t o show you when you shou ld h ave your dealer do engine oil r eplaceme nt a nd indicat ed maint enance serv ice. Operate your vehicl e on reaso nab le road s within t h e l eg al speed limit .
If t he rema ining engine oil lif e is 15 to 6 perc ent, you w ill see t he engine oil lif e indicat or ev ery t ime you t urn the ig ni ti o n swi tch to the ON (II ) posit ion.
If you have the required service done but do not re set t he displa y, or rese t t he display w ithout doing t he ser vice, t he syst em w ill not show t he corr ect ma intena nce inte rvals. T he f uel tank meets the saf ety sta n dards of NGV -2/NFPA-52/DOT NHT SA F MVSS 304. T he f uel ta n k shoul d b e insp ected every 3 years af te r i ts pro du ctio n da te. Hav e a qualif ied Honda Civic GX dea ler or a qualif ied NGV t echnicia n inspect t he f uel tank f or damage or leaks.

Open the trunk. R emo ve the socket f rom the light asse mbly by t urning it one -quart er turn counterclockwise. R emove t he burne d out bulb f rom t he socket by pulling it st raight out of it s socke t. Push t he new bulb st raight int o the so cke t un ti l i t bo tto m s.
R einstall the socket . T urn it clockw ise unt il it loc ks. Mak e sure t he new bulb is wor king. R einst all the t runk lining. Af ter sto ri n g yo ur ve h i cl e f or an extended p erio d, an d bef o re start i ng t he engine f or t he f irs t t ime, open the tru nk and leave it o pen for sev eral minut es.
