1 Product Features HP LCD Monitor The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitor has an acti ve matrix, thin-f ilm tra nsistor (TFT) panel. The monitor features include: ● E221c model, 54.
● Intelligent M anagement AssetControl ● Compliant with the follo wing regu lated specifications (fo r additi onal certificatio ns and agency notices, refer to the HP LCD Monitors Reference Guide .
2 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turn ed off to the mon itor, compu ter system, and other attached devices, then follow the instructions below. Unfolding the Monitor 1. Lift the monitor fro m its box and place it face down o n a flat surface.
Rear Components Component Function 1 USB 2.0 Downstream Connectors (2) Connects optional USB devices to the mon itor. 2 AC Power Conn ector Connects the AC power cord to the monitor. 3 DisplayPort Connects the Displa yPort cable to the monitor. 4 VGA Connects the VGA cable to the monitor.
Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well- ventilated l ocation near the computer. 2. Remove the cable ma nagement clip from the back of the stan d by pressing inwa rd on one si de of the clip (1) and pulling outward on the other side of the clip (2).
● For DVI digital operation, connect the DVI-D si gnal cable to the DVI connector on the rear of the monito r and the other end to the DVI co nnector on the computer (cable provided with select models).
4. Connect one e nd of the provided audio cable to th e audio conne ctor on th e rear panel of the computer, an d the other end to the audio conne ctor on the monito r. 5. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the USB hub connector on the rear panel of the computer, an d the other end to the upstream USB conne ctor on the m onitor.
6. Connect one end of th e power cord to the AC power connecto r on the back of th e monitor, and the other end to an electrical wall outlet. WARNING ! To re duce the ri sk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: Do not disable the power cord groun ding plug.
Front Panel Controls Control Function 1 Webcam Active — Blue LED; with open/close cover . 2 Menu Opens, selects or exits the OSD menu. 3 Minus/Volume If the OSD menu is on, press to navigate backwar d through the OSD menu and decrease adjustment levels.
Adjusting the Monitor NOTE: Your monitor model may look different than the model in the following illustrations. 1. Tilt the monitor's panel forward or backward to set it to a comfortable eye level. 2. Swivel the monitor to the le ft or right for the b est viewing angle.
3. Adjust the monitor’s height to a comfortable position for you r individua l workstation. The monitor’s top bezel edge should not exceed a height that is para llel to your eye h eight. A monitor that is positioned low an d reclined may be more comfortable for users with corrective lenses.
NOTE: To view information on the screen in po rtrait mode, you ca n install the HP Disp lay Assistant software included on the software and documentation di sc.
Turning on the Monitor 1. Press the power but ton on the compute r to turn it on. 2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to turn it on. CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that displa y the same static i mage on screen for a prolon ged period of time .
Connecting USB Devices USB connectors are used to connect devices su ch as a digita l camera , USB keyboard, or USB mouse. Two USB conn ectors are located on the side panel of the mon itor. NOTE: You must connect the USB hub cable fro m the monitor to the computer to ena ble the USB 2.
Removing the Monitor Stand You can remove the monitor pa nel from the stand to install the pa nel on a wall, a swing arm, or other mounting fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to d isassemble the monitor, b e sure the moni tor is turned off and the power and signal cable s are both disconne cted.
Mounting the Monitor The monitor pane l can be attached to a wall, swing arm, or other mounting fi xture. NOTE: This apparatus is intend ed to be supporte d by UL or CSA Listed wall mount bracket. 1. Remove the monitor panel from the stand. Refer to Removing the Mon itor Stand on page 15 .
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the mon itor provide the sp are part number, product numbe r, and serial number. You may need th ese numbers when conta cting HP a bout the moni tor model. The ra ting labels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor di splay head.
3 Using the Webcam Install CyberLink YouCam software and driver from the disc that came with yo ur monitor. NOTE: USB connectivity between the mo nitor and PC is require d for the webcam to operate. Use your webcam to: ● Create videos from files on your computer.
Before yo u can set up a video chat: 1. Download an Interne t messenger or video p hone call program. Ma ke sure the person you are calling has com patible video- calling software. 2. Enable your webcam as the default video input. This is usuall y done thro ugh the video setu p in the Tools menu in the softw are program you ar e using.
4 Using HP MyRoom HP MyRoom is your online m eeting room. Connec t with bu siness colleague s “face to face” an d collaborate with useful tools. Installing HP MyRoom from the Disc To install HP MyRoom: 1. Insert th e disc th at came w ith your monitor into the co mputer CD -ROM driv e.

Entering User Modes The video controller sig nal may occasionally ca ll for a mode that is not preset i f: ● You are not using a standard graphics adapte r. ● You are not using a preset mode.
