The front panel ha s the following components: 1. The Data light is off when the pr inter is not receiving data, and flashing when data is being received. 2. The Error light is off whe n there is no pr inter error, flashing to warn of an error conditi on that requires operator intervention, an d on when th ere is a serious in ternal error.
15. The ONLINE ke y switches the p rinter online or offline, and p rovides access to menu groups. 16. The Power ke y turns the prin ter on or off. Safety precautions The following symbo ls are used in this manual to ensure th e proper use of the p rinter and to p revent the printer from being damaged.
● Do not operate printer within 8 meters (25 feet) of open flames, spar ks, or other sources o f ignition. Do not smoke within 8 meters ( 25 feet) of the p rinter.
Handling precautions These precautions ar e recommended to avoid da mage to your printer and its components. Power supply ● Use the power supply voltage specified on the nameplate. ● Check the printer electrical o utlet for proper po lari ty and grounding before connecting printer.
● Use only an HP Waste Ink Bottle. The bottle m ust be installed according to instru ctions or waste ink may overflow. An HP Waste Ink Bottle must always be installed before turning the printer ON. Automatic and manual service cycles produce waste in k that must be contained in an HP Waste Ink Bottle.

How do I calibrate my printer You can adjust the mechanical and electrical settin gs of your printer based on a series of printe d patterns. These patterns allow you to calibrate your printer setti ngs for the media you are using. Based on the resu lts of these patte rns, you can optimize the perform ance of your printer.
Selectable print mode s are: ● NORMAL — standard and high speed print modes (7 20 x 720 dpi – 8 passes). ● H-QUAl — high quality print mode ( 720 x 720 dpi – 16 passes). ● H-DENS — high density print mode (720 x 720 d pi – 16 passes).
Five patterns are printed in 0.5 % steps in a range of 99.00 % to 101.00%. ● A — Dark line s are visible; the value is too low. ● B — No lines are visible; the value is correct. ● C — Light lines are visible; the va lue is too high. NOTE Select a mean valu e if the media advan ce va lu e is differen t in every c olor.
13. Press the key, and then the OK key to display the med ia advance calibratio n value. 14. Enter the media advance adjustment value, an d press the OK key. Set a numeric value with the and keys. NOTE Select a mean value if the media a dvance v alue is d ifferent in ev ery co lor.
