A normal (or soft) reset of your device clears all active progr am memory and shuts down all active programs. This can be useful when your device is running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly .

88 Getting Connected T o set up a dial-up connection to your ISP When you use your device t o dial up to your ISP and connect to the Internet, you will be billed by the number of minutes that y ou use. T o establish a dial-up connec tion on your device , you need the same settings that you normally use when you dial up from y our computer .

92 Getting Connected 6.3 Using C omm Manager Comm Manager acts like a central switcher that lets you enable or disable phone features as w ell as manage your data connections easily . T o open Comm Manager • T ap the Comm Manager icon ( ) on the T oday screen; or • Pr ess the Comm Manager button on the right side of the device.
Getting Connected 93 6.4 Using Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology . Devices with Bluetooth capabilities can exchange inf ormation within a distance of about 10 meters without requiring a physical c onnection.
94 Getting Connected Note By default, Bluetooth is turned off. If you turn it on, then turn off your devic e, Bluetooth also turns off. When y ou turn on your device again, Bluetooth automatically turns on. T o turn Bluetooth on and make your devic e visible 1.
Getting Connected 95 T o accept a Bluetooth partnership 1. Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on and in visible mode. 2. T ap Y es when prompted to establish a partnership with the other device. 3. Enter a passcode (the same passcode that is ent ered on the device requesting the partnership) to establish a secure connection.
96 Getting Connected T o connect a Bluetooth hands-free or stereo headset 1. Make sure that both your device and the Bluetooth headset ar e turned on and within close range, and that the headset is visible. Refer to the manufacturer’ s documentation t o find out how to set the headset in visible mode.
Getting Connected 97 2. Y ou also need to set Bluetooth on your computer to visible mode . Do one of the following: • If your computer has W indows XP SP2 and your c omputer’ s built- in or external Bluetooth adapter is supported by W indows XP SP2, open Bluetooth Devices fr om the Control P anel.
98 Getting Connected T o receive a Bluetooth beam Y our device will not detect and notify you of incoming Bluetooth beams unless you set it up to do this. 1. T ap S tart > Settings > Connections tab > B eam . 2. Select the Receive all incoming beams check bo x.

T o do this, create a Bluetooth modem connection on your device and then send information to the phone by using Bluet ooth.
102 Getting Connected 6.5 Using Int ernet Sharing Internet Sharing connects your PC or notebook comput er to the Internet by using your device ’ s data connection (GPRS or EDGE, for instance). Y ou can choose to connect via USB or Bluetooth. Follo w the procedure in this section to set up your devic e as a USB modem.
Getting Connected 103 6.6 Using Spb GPRS Monitor Spb GPRS Monitor measures the amount of data transf ers that you hav e made via GPRS or a phone dial-up connection, and calculates network usage costs.
