8 Quick Star t Guide 4. Installing the SIM Car d and Batter y Make sure y our device is turned off befor e installing the SIM card and batter y . Y ou also need to remov e the back co ver bef ore y ou can install these components . T o remo ve the back c ov er Hold the device secur ely with the fron t facing down.
Quick Star t Guide 9 T o install the batt er y Align the ba tter y ’ s exposed copper contacts with the batter y connectors inside the batter y compar tment. Inser t the contact ’ s side of the batter y first and then gently push the batter y into plac e.

T o charge the ba tter y Connect the USB connector of the AC adapt er to the sync connector at the bottom of y our device .

Quick Star t Guide 13 T o switch betw een the tabs of the Home screen Do one of the follo wing: T ouch or tap the desired tab on the Home screen. P ress Na vigation R ight or L ef t. P ress and hold y our finger on the ac tive tab , then slide your finger right or left over the tabs .
14 Quick Star t Guide 8. Mak ing Y our F irst C all T o place a call 1. Pr ess the T ALK/SEND button to open the Phone scr een. 2. T ap the keys on the keypad to enter the phone number . T ip If you tapped a wrong number , tap to erase each subsequen t digit of a number .

T o selec t a profile: On the Home screen, slide t o the Settings tab and then tap Sounds . Choose one of the f ollowing: Normal , V ibrat e , Silent , or A utomatic .
18 Quick Star t Guide Devic e lock Enabling device lock r equires y ou to enter a passw ord t o unlock your devic e af ter it has been left idle for a set period of time. On the Home screen, slide t o the Settings tab and then tap All Settings . On the P ersonal tab , tap Lock .

Back light and ba tter y saving settings Conser ve ba tter y pow er by adjusting backlight and batter y saving settings . On the Home screen, slide t o the Settings tab and then tap All Settings .
20 Quick Star t Guide 11. Adding F av orite C ontac ts On the Home screen ’ s P eople tab , you can add up t o 12 fav orite contacts. This allow s you to quickly make calls, send text messages, and send e -mails to contacts who you most frequen tly communicate with.

T o connect your de vice with a Bluetooth st ereo headset Make sure that both y our device and the Bluetooth ster eo headset are turned on and within close range , and that the headset is visible .
