22 G etting Started 1.2 Installing the USIM/SIM Card and Batt ery Always turn off your devic e before installing/replacing the USIM/SIM car d and battery. The USIM/SIM card contains your phone number , ser vice details, and phonebook/message memory. Y our device suppor ts both 1.

T o install the battery Install the battery by aligning its exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors inside the battery compar tment.

26 G etting Started 1.4 Starting Up After inserting your USIM/SIM card and battery and charging the battery, you can now pow er on and start using your device. T urn your device on and off T o turn on the power • Press and hold the POWER butt on for a few seconds .

Select the profile you want to use from the drop down list and tap OK . O2 Connection Settings then star ts to configure y our device ’ s data connection settings.
28 G etting Started Calibra te the device Calibrating the touch scr een involves tapping the c entre of a cross with the stylus as the cross moves around the scr een. This process ensur es that when you tap the screen with your stylus , the tapped item is activated.

30 G etting Started 1.5 The T o day Screen The T oday screen displays important information, such as upcoming appointments and status indicators . Y ou can tap a section on the screen to open the associated program.
Getting Started 31 1.6 The Start Menu The Start menu, located at the top left corner of the T oday screen, displays a list of programs . Y ou can start a program by scrolling through the prog rams list and then pressing ENTER, or by tapping a prog ram with the stylus.
32 G etting Started 1.8 T ouchFL O™ T ouchFL O™ is a special feature that g ives you a better touch panel experience on your device . With T ouchFL O , you can use your thumb or fingers to scroll and pan the screen. T ouchFLO also f eatures the T ouch Cube wher e you can launch messaging programs , Internet Explorer® Mobile, and more.
Getting Started 33 T o navigate the T ouch C ube The T ouch Cube is a three-dimensional, cubic user inter face. T o flip the interface from one side to another , slide your thumb left or right on the touch screen.
34 G etting Started Select an empty slot to add a favourite contact. If the contact has more than one contact number , select the number to call when you touch the contact. Open Call History. (See Chapter 3 for details.) T ap to call the number associated with the contact.

The Symbol pad is a vailable when using both the T ou ch Keyboard and T ouch K eypad .

60 Using Phone Features 3.1 Using the Phone Like a standard mobile phone, y ou can use your device to make, r eceive , and keep track of calls and send messages. Y ou can also dial directly from Contacts, and easily cop y phonebook entries from your SIM card t o Contacts on your device.
Using Phone F eatures 61 T o enable or disable Airplane Mode Another way to turn off the phone function is to switch your devic e to Airplane Mode . When you enable Airplane Mode, all wireless r adios on your device are turned off, including the phone function, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
62 Using Phone Features 3.2 Making a Call With your devic e, you can make a call from Phone , C ontacts , T ouchFL O , Speed Dial , Call History , and SIM Manager . Make a call from Phone 1. T ap Start > Phone . 2. On the Phone keypad, touch the keys with your finger or tap the keys using the stylus to enter the phone number .

64 Using Phone Features One -touch Speed Dial Use Speed Dial to call frequently-used numbers with a single tap . F or example, if you assign a c ontact to the location 2 in Speed Dial, you can tap and hold the number 2 key on the Phone screen to dial the contact’ s number .
Using Phone F eatures 65 Make a call from SIM Manager SIM Manager allows you to view the c ontents of your SIM card , transfer SIM phonebook entries to Contacts on your device , and make a call from your SIM card. T o call a SIM contact 1. T ap Start > Programs > SIM Manager .
66 Using Phone Features T o put a call on hold Y our device notifies you when you hav e another incoming call, and gives you the choice of rejecting or accepting the call . If you are already on a call and accept the new call, y ou can choose to switch between the two callers, or set up a conferenc e call between all three parties.
Using Phone F eatures 67 3.4 Making a V ideo Call Y our device allows you to make video calls when y ou are within a 3G network coverage ar ea. Y ou need to use a 3G enable SIM card to make video calls. T o make a video call Do any of the following: • On the Phone keypad, tap the phone number t o call, then tap .

When you pr ess NA VIGA TION up or down or rotate the NA VIGA TION WHEEL during a video call, a brightness bar appears at the bottom the screen. • Press NA VIGA TION right or rotate the NA VIGA TION WHEEL anti-clockwise to increase brightness.
