6 2 Getting to Know Your Mobile Phone 2.1 Mobile Phon e View 2.1.1 Phone at a G lance All the pictures in this gu ide are for your reference only. The actual appea rance and display featur es depend on the mobile phone y ou purchase.
7 2.1. 2 Key Funct ion s at Your Finger tips 2.2 Installing Your Mobile Phone 2.2. 1 Instal ling the SIM Card There are two steps to inst all the SIM card: 9 Home key 10 Back key 11 Menu key 12 Back camera 13 Speaker 14 Charging/Data interface • Press and hold to power on your mobile pho ne.
8 1. Remove the battery cover. 2. Insert the SI M card. 2.2. 2 Inst alli ng the Bat tery 1. Angle the edge labeled a (with the contacts) int o the bottom end of the battery slot. 2. Push down the edge labelled b until the battery clicks firmly into place.
9 If your mobile phone is charged when it is powered on, the battery ico n on the Notification bar sho ws the charging status. When the battery icon cha nges to , it indicates that your mobile pho ne is fully charged.
10 • Lower the volume. • Close power-draining programs, when y ou do not need them. • Turn off the data service. 2.3 Power On or Off Your Mobile Phon e 2.3.1 Powering On Your Mo bile Phone Press and hold . The first time you power on you r phone, you will be asked to sign in to your account and set up your mobile phone.
11 2.3.5 Restarting Your M obile Phone 1. Press and hold to open the Phone options menu. 2. Touch Restart . 3. Touch OK . 2.3. 6 Usin g Airpl ane Mode Some locations may require you to turn o ff your phone’s wir eless connecti ons. Rather than powering off your pho ne, you can place it in Airplane mode .
12 2.5 Locking a nd Unlocking the Screen 2.5.1 Locking the S creen • When your phone is on, press to lock the screen. When the screen is locked, you can still receive mes sages and calls. • If your phone is idle for a while , the screen will lock automatically.
13 2.6 Home Screen Touch and hold one of the shortcut s until the mobile phone vibrates, you c an drag it to your desir ed location or move it to the trash .
14 2.6.2 Notifications Panel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notifications panel also informs you of alarms and settings, fo r example, you w ill be notified w hen Call forwarding is activated.
15 Closing the Notification Panel Touch and hold the bottom of the panel. Then flick up to close it. 2.6.3 Viewing Other Parts of the Home Screen Touch > Home settings > Advance d sett ings > Screen number to set the screen number . 2.6.4 Customizing the H ome Screen Adding a New Screen Item 1.
16 Removing a Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the Home s creen until the item expand s and the mobile phone vibrates. 2. Without lifting your finger, drag the it em to the trash can. When the item and t he trash can turn red, th e item is ready to be removed.
17 2.7 Application List Application list ho lds icons f or all of the a pplications on your phone. You can touch on the Home screen to open the application list. 2.7. 1 Moving I cons i n the Appl icat ion Li st 1. In the application list, press . 2. Touch and hold the icon you want to move in the ap plication list until the phone vibrates.
18 3. Touch Turn on USB storage in the dialog box that opens to confirm that you want to trans fer file s. You can now transfe r files from your PC to your mobile phone’s microSD card. When your microSD card acts as USB mass storag e, your mobile phone will not use this memory space.
19 2. Touch the appropriate numeric keys to enter the pho ne number. Your mobile phone suppo rts the SmartDial function , that is, when you touch numbers on the diale r, the phone automa tically searches amo ng your contacts and lists the matching results bas ed on the accuracy.
20 3.2.2 Ending a Ca ll During a call, touch End to hang up. 3.2.3 Rejecting an Inco ming Call Drag the t o the left to reject t he call. You can touch the bar at the b ottom of the screen to reject a call and send t he caller a message.
21 3.3 Other Opera tions During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Conferenc e Call If you receive a new call while yo u are already on a c all, you can connec t the second call to the call you are on. This feature is known as conference calling. You can also set up a conference call with multiple callers.
22 3.4.1 Adding an e ntry to Contacts 1. If you are already working with Dialer or Contacts , touch the Call lo g tab. 2. Touch and hold the entry you want to add. 3. Touch Add to contacts in the options menu. 4. Touch Create new contact or scroll through the co ntact list and touch an exis ting contact name.
23 2. If you have more than one accou nt with contacts, to uch the account to wh ich you want to add the co ntact. 3. Enter the contact's name, and then add de tailed information such as phone number or address. 4. When you are finished, touch Done to save the contact informa tion.
24 4.7 Communicating with Your Contacts From the Contacts or Favorites tab, you can quickly call or se nd a text (SMS) or multimedia message (MMS) to a contact’s default phone numb er. You can al so open details to view a list of all the ways you can communic ate with that contact.
25 3. Enter the name and picture you want to s tore for the group, and th en give the group a ringtone. 4. Touch > Add Members to add members on the group list. 5. Select the contacts to be added to th e group, and then touch OK 6. When you are finished, touch Done to save the group informat ion.
26 Two contacts will be joine d together and display ed as one contact. Touc h the contact to view the joined information. If you touch the contact, and then touch “N Joined Contacts”, you ca n see that the contact is joined toge ther by two contacts.

Select an input method to customiz e the keyboard settin gs. 6 Messaging The Messaging application allows you to exchange text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with an yone using an SMS-or-MMS-cap able phone.
29 The message list opens, and y our name appears in the list, followed by the message you just sent. Responses appear in the window. As you view and send additional messages, a message thread is created. 6.1. 3 Creat ing and Sending a Multimed ia Messag e You can use mult imedia messages to mak e everyday commu nications very spe cial.
30 6.1.4 Opening a nd Viewing a Mu ltimedia Message 1. In the message list, touch the message t hread you wish to view . 2. Touch the multimedia message to view the mess age. 6.1. 5 Replyi ng to a Message 1. In the message list, touch a text or multimedia messag e thread to open it.
31 2. To customize your email settings , answer the onscree n prompts, and then touch Next . Or touch Manual setup if you want to set the mail se rver yourself. If you choose to set up your account manually, you will need the correct parameters for the account.

33 7 Getting Connected 7.1 Using the Smart Traffic Manager Smart Traffic Manager allows you to en ter the total amount of traffic includ ed in your 2G/3G monthly package and se t traffic notification thre sholds. When the tr affic reaches these threshol ds, you will be warned.
34 Your mobile phone will automatically read the acc ess point of the SIM card. For this reason, do not change the parameters of the access point ; otherwise, you might not be able to acce ss network sources. 7.2.2 Turning on the D ata Service 1. Touch > Settings .

37 7.5.2 Opening a W eb Page 1. In a browser window, touch the U RL field at the top of the sc reen. 2. Use the keyboard to enter the web pa ge address. You can to uch to enter the web page address by voice. 3. As you enter the address, matching web page addresses will appear o n the screen.
38 7.6 Bluetoo th Your mobile phone has Bl uetooth, which allows you to crea te a wireless connec tion with other Bluetooth dev ices so you can share files wit h your friends, talk hands- free with a Bluetooth heads et, or even transfer phot os on your phone to you r PC.
39 7.6.3 Sending Files v ia Bluetooth With Bluetooth, you can sha re pictures, videos, or music files with your family and friends. To send files via Bluetoot h, do as follows: 1. Touch and hold the file to be sent in your mobile phone or SD card. The active options menu is display ed.
40 Capture Screen On the capture screen, press to show the capture panel. 8.1. 2 Taking a Photo 1. Open your camera and switch to the camer a mode. 2. If necessary, change the camera settings. The preview cha nges as you change the settings. 3. Compose your photo within the ph oto capture screen.
41 8.1.4 Recording a V ideo 1. Open the camera, and then sw itch to camcorder mode. 2. If necessary, change the c amcorder settings. 3. Frame the scene which yo u want to start your vide o. 4. Touch t o start recording a v ideo. 5. Touch t o stop recording .
42 3. Touch the screen. Then the zoom panel appears. You can zoom in or zoom out on the picture. The picture view er supports t he automatic rotatio n function. When you rotate your mobile pho ne, the picture ad justs itself to the rotation. 8.2. 3 Rotat ing a P ictu re 1.
43 8.3.2 Opening the Music Library Touch > Huawei Music to open the music library . Music Library a utomatically scans for music st ored on your SD card and displays them in Albums ， Songs ， Playlists ， Folders . Touch More to view musi c of other types.
44 By default, the album cover is display ed in music playing screen. You ca n flip left or right to switch to visua lization effects or lyr ics screen. During the music playing, press . You can use other applications and the music will be playing in background.
45 2. Press and hold the playlist you want to play. 3. Touch Play to play the playlist. 8.4 Listening to FM Radi o FM Radio lets you listen to FM radio stations on your mobile phone. Since FM Radio uses the provided wire d stereo headset as the antenna, connect the headset first to the audio jack of your phone befor e you open the application.

You can use it to communicate in real time with other people using Talk on a phone or on the web.
49 9.3.5 Setting Notifications for New Instant M essages Whenever you receiv e an instant message, your mobile ph one can play a sound, vibrate, or display an icon. To set up one of these handy notif ications, start in the friends list, and then touch .
50 9.4.2 Opening M aps Touch > Maps to open the application. 9.4. 3 Searc hing f or Plac es of I ntere st 1. On the map, touch , and then touch Search . 2. Enter the plac e you want to sea rch for in the sear ch box, and the n touch the Searc h icon.

53 10.1 Managi ng Your Accoun ts You can synchronize co ntacts, email, and other information on your mobile phone with multiple Google accounts or other kinds of accounts, dep ending on the applications installed on your mobile phone.

Set the time of your event reminder in Reminders , and then specify in Repetition whether the event recu rs and, if it does, how freq uently. 7. Touch Done . To quickly create an event in the Day , Week , or Month view, touch and hold an empty time slot, and then touch New event .
57 • Set alerts & notifications : Touch to set event reminde rs to alert you, send you a notification, or to turn of f event notifications on your mobile phone. • Select ringtone : Touch to s elect the ringtone to sound when you receive an event reminder.

Customizing Alarm Settings On the alarm list screen, tou ch , and then touch Settings . 11.3 Using the Calculator Use the calculat or to solve simple arithmetic pro blems or use its advanced oper ators to solve more complex eq uations.
59 12.1 Setting the Date and Time By default, your mobile phone aut omatically uses the date, time zone, and time provided by the network . When your mobile p hone is using date and time settings pro vided automatically by the network, you can not manually set the date, time, an d time zone.
60 12.3 Setting Ringers 12.3.1 Turning On S ilent Mode 1. On the Settings screen, touch Sound . 2. Select the Silent mode check box to silence all sounds except alarms, and music and video media sound.
61 12.4 Setting Phone Services 12.4.1 Customizing Ca ll Settings You mobile phone service pr ovider offers differ ent services such as call forwarding , call waiting, fixed dialing numb ers, and voicemail. You can customize many of these services if they are part of your calling plan.
