1 Power On P ower On Follo w the instructions below to power on y our Humminbird® contr ol head. 1. Press the POWER/LIGHT key. 2. When the T itle screen is displayed, pr ess the MENU ke y to access the Start-U p Options Menu.
2 How Sonar W orks Sonar technology is based on sound wav es. T he 300 Series™ Fishfinder uses sonar to locate and define structur e, bottom contour and composition, as well as depth directly below the tr ansducer .
When all the echoes ar e view ed side by side, an easy to interpret “gr aph“ of the bottom, fish, and structure appear s. The sou nd pu ls es are t rans mi tt ed at var iou s frequencies depending on the applica tion. V ery high frequencies (455 kHz) ar e used for gr eatest definition but the operating depth is limited.
4 DualBeam PLUS™ Sonar (DualBeam PLUS™ models only [345c]) Y ou r 3 4 5c Fishfinder uses a 200/83 kHz DualBeam PLUS™ sonar system with a wide (60°) area of cov erage. DualBeam PL US™ sonar has a narro wly focused 20° center beam, surrounded b y a second beam of 60°, expanding your cov erage to an area equal to your depth.
Down Imaging™ Sonar (Down Imaging™ models only [345c DI]) Y ou r 345c DI Fishfinder uses Down Imaging™ technology . The Dow n Imaging™ transducer scans the w ater with razor -thin, high-definition beams. T he beams are wide (side to side) but very thin front to back.

Bottom Presentation As the boat mov es, the unit charts the changes in depth on the display to create a profile of the Bottom Contour . Understanding the Down Imaging™ Display The images you see on the Down Imaging™ display are pr oduced using sonar technology . Each time the unit pings, a strip of data repr esenting all the echoes receiv ed by the transducer ar e put together on the display to f orm the image that you see.
16 Down Imaging™ Sensitivity Use Imaging Sensitivity to control how the sonar returns appear on the display . Increase the sensitivity to re veal w eaker r eturns that ma y be of interest, especially in very clear wa ter or greater depths.

Sonar V iew Sonar Vie w presents a historical log of sonar r eturns. T he most recent sonar returns are charted on the right side of the displa y . As new informa tion is received, the historical informa tion scrolls left acr oss the display .
20 Sonar Zoom V iew Sonar Zoom View pr ovides a magnified view of the bottom and structure. T he Sonar Zoom Vie w makes it easier to see separ ate sonar r eturns that w ould usually be displayed close together , such as those caused by fish suspended close to the bottom or within structure.
Split Sonar V iew Split Sonar V iew displa ys sonar returns fr om each down beam frequency on separate sides of the screen. Y ou can use the Split Sonar View to mak e side by side comparisons between the sonar r eturns from both beams.
22 Big Digits V iew Big Digits View pr ovides digital data in a large, easy -to-see forma t. • Digital Readouts: Depth is always displa yed. Readouts for temperatur e, speed, and T riplog information are displa yed automa tically if the appropria te accessory is connected to the Fishfinder .

24 Circular Flasher V iew Circular Flasher View pr ovides two ways to vie w sonar data in tr aditional flasher format . The vie w is controlled b y the Ice Fishing Mode menu option in the Sonar Menu T ab. • When Ice F ishing Mode is off , the Circular Flasher V iew displays Real Time Sonar (R TS™) data in a traditional flasher format.

T o activate the Depth Cursor: Use the Depth Cursor to identify depth on the flasher display . 1. Set up: Press the VIEW key r epeatedly until the Cir cular Flasher V iew is displayed on the screen. T urn on the Ice Fishing Mode (see Sonar Menu T ab ).

Ke y Functions Y our Fishfinder user interface consists of a set of easy-to-use k eys tha t work with various on-screen vie ws and menus to give you flexibility and control ov er your fishing experience. POWER/LIGHT Ke y The POWER/LIG HT key is used to po wer the Fishfinder on and off .

EXIT Ke y The EXIT k ey has multiple functions, which depend on the situation: • If an alarm is sounding , press the EXIT ke y to cancel the alarm. • If a menu tab is selected , press the EXIT k ey to exit the menu mode and return to the view . • If a menu is active , press the EXIT k ey to r eturn to the pre vious lev el in the menu system.
34 T he Menu System The Menu Syst em is divided into easy-to-use menu modules as f ollows: • Start-Up Options Menu: Press the MENU key during the po wer on sequence to view the Start -Up Options Menu. From the Start-Up Option s Menu, you c an choo se the followin g Fishfin der Mod es: Normal, Simulator , and System Status.
Start -Up Options Menu Press the MENU ke y during the power on sequence to view the Start -Up Options Menu, and select one of the modes described on the follo wing pages. Also, see Po wer On for additional inform ation. Normal Use Normal for on-the-w ater oper ation with a tr ansducer connected.

Self T est displays results fr om the internal diagnostic self test, including unit serial number , Printed Circuit Board (PCB) serial number , software r evision, total hour s of opera tion, and the input voltage. Accessory T est lists the accessories connected to the system.

Upper Range (Advanced: Sonar , Split Sonar, Circular Flasher , and Big Digits Vie ws only) Settings: 0 to 990 feet or 0 to 327 meters [International Models only]; Default = 0 feet Upper Range sets the shallow est depth range tha t will be display ed on the Sonar , Split Sonar , Circular Flasher , and Big Digits Vie ws.

Bottom Range (Sonar Zoom Vie w only when Bottom Lock is On) Settings: 10 - 60 feet, 2-10 fathoms, or 3-20 meters [International Models only], Default = 15 feet Bottom Range allows you to contr ol how much of the wa ter column, measured up from the bottom, is show n in the Sonar Zoom Vie w.

60 The Do wn Imaging™ models (345c DI) allow you to choose 200 kHz or 455 kHz for conical sonar cover age in the traditional sonar views. • W hen set to 200 kHz , only the returns from the 200 kHz (25°) beam will be displaye d in the Down Imaging™ V iews.
61 Surface Clutter Settings: Low = 1 to High = 10; Default = 5 Surface Clutter adjusts the filter that remo ves surfa ce clutter noise caused by algae and aerat ion.

Fish ID Sensitivity Settings: Low = 1, High = 10; Default = 5 Fish I D Se nsi tiv ity adjusts the threshold of the Fish ID+™ detection algorithms. Selecting a higher setting allows w eaker r eturns to be display ed as fish. This is useful f or identifying smaller fish species or baitfish.
64 Sonar Colors (Sonar Vie w , Sonar Zoom Vie w , Circular Flasher V iew , and Big Digits Vie w) Se tt i ng s : Gra y, Gree n, I nv ers e , Or i gi n al Pal e tt e , P alette 1, P alette 2, P alette 3; Default = Original P alette Sonar Colors allows y ou to select which color palette you would like to use f or the display .
Zoom Width Settings: Narrow , Medium, Wide; Default = Wide Zoom Width adjusts the width of the zoomed view on the Sonar Zoom V iew , which is on the left side of the display .
66 Depth Lines (Advanced) Settings: Off, On; Default = On Depth Lines divide the display into f our equal sections which are separ ated by three horizontal depth lines. T he depth of each line is displayed along the depth scale. Y ou can turn Depth Lines On or Off.

W hen Max Depth is set to Auto, the Fishfinder will acquir e bottom readings as needed (within the capacity of the unit).

70 Units - Depth Settings: Domestic Models: Feet, Fathoms; International Models: Meters; Default = Feet/Meter s Units - Depth selects the units of measure for all depth-related r eadouts.
User Mode Settings: Normal, Advanced; Default = Normal User Mode sets the menu system to Normal or Advanced. W hen set to Normal (default setting), the basic set of menu options ar e shown in the menu system. When set to Adv anced, additional menu options are added to the menu system.

Depth Offset (Advanced) Settings: - 10.0 to +10 .0 feet, or -3 .0 to 3.0 mete rs [International Models only]; Default = 0 feet Depth Offset will adjust the digital depth readout to indicate depth fr om the waterline or boa t's keel.

Use the settings to change the display of the decimal place or remov e it from the digital readouts.
